It's certainly got potential, but there's also some room for overlap with the Fragile persona in that they could both be pushed too far, snap, and kill someone else. Maybe even you if you're not careful.

The very intelligent ones are masterful actors who are in the highest positions of power, which is something Ayano would be perfect for, if she aims for the student council. And then the sad fact remains, they really do exist and play us out like pawns ala conquer et devide.

This is just from what I’ve heard from fans but I’m not sure if it’s true :) When Yandere-chan gets heartbroken, the snap button (I think) is an option where Yandere-chan will snap and kill the current rival and Senpai. The reason why she does that is because she feels that if she can’t have Senpai, no one else can have him either. After she kills both of them, she’ll also kill herself since there’s no point for her to live without Senpai. Hope I helped :3

I suggest that changing your persona too often could affect your reputation, because being considered "fake" is a huge deal in high school. Also you could do something like, perhaps if one student is in multiple social groups, and sees Yandere-chan acting differently in different situations, they could notice? Or something like that? Also, the Spiteful persona is SO much better than the evil persona, good on ya.
A potential idea about the mirror thing. If you could have it in Yandere-chans room. It would lock her personality to that persona for that day. Making the player think really hard as to what persona to use, as prep for the elimination of the rival on a day to day basis. And adds further need for Yandere chans room
Feather Sword Isn't there a planned hard mode for Yandere Sim? If so, I'd imagine that idea could be implemented in the hard mode of it. While the player would have access to it in the regular difficulty.
Mia I kind of agree with you. But I personally think the spiteful persona is also a good idea. If he will add more personas, he could add your idea of an evil persona. Both of them in the game would be great.
I think it would be great for the occult club members, when they don't hate the person they act all cowardly and stuff, but if they hate them they wouldn't mind seeing them hurt or suffering. It sounds more satanic and fitting for them.

Perhaps it would be better to keep the mirror in your own room. If your persona changes too much in one day or in one week, wouldn’t it be suspicious to the students who you commonly interact with to see your personality change so much? It would give an air of inauthenticity. In addition, I think that if you put the mirror in Yandere Chan’s room it would feel more realistic because it would give the impression that choosing a persona would be apart of her getting ready for school everyday.
You have a good point. A good solution would also be, that you're only allowed to change your persona once a week. And if you join the drama club you can change it multiple times or as often as you like. If we only keep it in the mirror in Yan Chan's room she couldn't change persona during the day and has to wait until she's back home. The player would loose one day.
Some suggestions: 1: Maybe he could add a lesbian/gay character? I know that he dosent want to add one because apparently in Japan they dont come out before they graduate, but maybe it would work well as a secret that you pay info-chan to get and that you can blackmail the student with? 2: (Personality idea:) Someone that calls their closest friend/s after witnessing a murder and informs them that someone dangerous is in the school, wich puts the friends that they called really at edge. Maybe this could be called a "Caring" personality? (Maybe it would fit for the gardener girl?) 3: I know that this is a very strict school, but if students can manage to get away with literally selling panty shots to eachother then some graffiti in the toilets or maybe where the delinquents hang out will be the last thing they'll be worried about getting caught for. Maybe you'll also see new graffiti appear as the week progresses. It'll definitely add a more realistic and " *Woah* technology! " feel to the game. 4: More options for the computer: Like looking at other peoples posts, being able to post photos, changing the wallpaper, writing down notes (etc) 5: Being able to take selfies with people (and posting them). Also depending on the person you post a pic with you might get a small boost or a drop in your reputation.
if yandere chan is switching her persona too much, i suggest people could become suspicious, and eventually her reputation would drop as people think shes just a "poser" or whatever
Good, you are right. That would balance the game and make it harder, so the player can't just change too much and need to be clever about the steps he takes
The persona thing is easily one of the coolest new implementations I've seen for the game. Here's an idea: The Psychology Stat doesn't really do anything at the moment. How about each rank in the Psychology Stat nets you new personas? Or perhaps it could increase the bonuses that those personas give? Perhaps a persona won't be all that useful at all unless you know how to manipulate people properly. Players tend to use features more creatively when they're trickle-fed rather than dumped on them all at once.
Look. lore is fine and all, but it should be about player convenience. Imagine having to travel back to the same spot each time you want to change personas? Especially if it's only in the music room. It would be BS. Though, I'm assuming (or at least hoping because it makes sense) that Yan-Dev will put the mirrors in places they make sense. Like the bathrooms. It doesn't HAVE to be on the cellphone so long as there are more mirrors.
Yandere dev wont read this, but... Outside, behind the school, is a huuuuge place. So huge, that i can easily ask the rival to follow me out there, kill them, and get rid of the corpse without anyone seeing me, because the distance to everything is pretty far away. I think this is important to remember... Not to be rude or anything, its an amazing game he's/you're making, and i just want it to be more challenging and fun :)

That is a great point, but I would like to add a couple counter-points that will hopefully soothe your concerns: 1. I can't remember exactly which video(s) he said it in, but I recall Yandere Dev saying that he plans to add WAY more students to the final game. So it seems big and empty now, but it probably won't be so empty once the entire student body is finally implemented. 2. Let's imagine that worst case scenario, you are able to do exactly that to Osana in the final game. You are not going to be able to do that to ALL the rivals. Each rival is supposed to be harder to eliminate than the last, so (assuming Yandere Dev does his job correctly), asking the rival to follow you to a quiet corner of the schoolyard and then killing them WILL stop working.
Maybe there are lots of Sports Club members that hang out around that area. Also, he wants at least 90 students in the school :3 I’m pretty sure they’ll be spread out all over school grounds
Yandere dev, I was thinking that when Yandere Chan trips and falls with a bucket, nearby students will ask if you are alright but with a high reputation, they will try to help you up but when your reputation is low, they will have the current reaction
It's the little tiny, world-building, features; that don't add much, but are just little "Ways-of-life" thingy. It makes the game feel more real.... They're just great.
I like it, but it could go like this. High: will run up to you with a worried expression and desperate to help you up Normal: will ask if you are alright and help you up. Low: will not help you and will respond with a different expression and reason why they didnt help (depending on your persona) No persona: will snicker at you and start to tease you *maybe Senpai will notice you again, and help you up* Tough: will be too scared
I really like this idea! I think adding more features that take reputation into account for small things like this will really make the game feel more real.
I feel like the mirror that changed Yandere-Chan's personality should only be available at the beginning of every day in her home, so the player has to think carefully on what they will do that day, and which personality will benefit them the most
I think that the different personas should grant you advantages with some types but at the same time should get disadvantages with other personas (e.p. with the shy persona you get advantages with the Occult Club, but disadvantages with the bullies).
Maybe for the spiteful persona, if you befriended them prior to the murder, so when you do murder, you could do a challenging task for them so they'll keep secret. The task will have to be challeging of cource and that way the player won't have to spend so much time getting them bullied or getting your vittim bullied.
What if you killed someone that the bullies were.........you know bullying and made it look like a suicide and in the letter they say they killed themselves because of the bullies and the Bullies reputation went down a lot
for anyone who read the persona list I think the aggressive persona should have the bonus of being able to pressure shy/fragile characters to help you in ways a bit more complex and a bit more disturbing than what you can do in the game currently with almost every student but with the drawback of lowering your reputation with most other students and maybe getting in a low caliber fight with heroic/delinquent students and possibly only being able to pressure students only when there alone.
I think that's oddly clever that all of the students laughing at Yandere-Chan in the game-over sequence look the same, but Senpai is his normal self. It really adds on to her personality (or lack thereof). If she lacks emotions and doesn't care about people or other things, why should they stand out to her? Her world's very black and white... except when it comes to Senpai. Senpai is her clarity, anchor, and everything that his been missing previously. Great job YandereDev! :)
I know Nemesis makes Mission Mode unique just with her being an obstacle but like... I really wish she was in the normal game mode too! I'm very interested in her, despite her not appearing much (and her also being an option to Mission Mode), but it would be cool if she was an actual student in school with a bit more background info/more interactions with her, ya ya. Why don't you make the evil students blackmail yandere chan ? For an example after the day of the murder they tell her to do certain tasks for them or they'll report her to the police ? I think this persona might be better alongside the spitful persona !
Tag should become available after you take a photo of them, if you don't have a photo you can ask other students to tell you where she is or where they saw her/him, maybe even tell you false info if they hate you

David Ryder well wisdom teeth grow in weirdly and you have to get them removed because they can cause health issues. When they remove them they put you on anesthesia so you don't feel the agony of your teeth being ripped out. The anesthesia however can cause you to see weird things and make you act differently.

What if a member of the drama club were able to catch YanChan changing personas in front of a mirror, and then start following her around? You could make it so that when you talk to the member, they beg you to join the drama club because they're impressed with your acting, giving you a prompt to answer yes or no. If you say no, you could end up losing reputation. If you say yes, you would, of course, join the club. However, you would have a few days before you'd be able to join a different club, and not attending activities for the week will not affect whether or not you're out of the club in the next week. Also, saying no to the member will make it so that when you actually join the club, if you actually choose to, that time period in which you can't join another club will then be extended. Just a thought. :)
This would result in a watch dog kind of situation. You either join the Drama club to get rid of them, which depending on what your actual goal was have a chance for it to be a negative, lose reputation but continue on your path (still a negative), or kill them (can be negative in various ways). Literally unless your goal was to join the Drama club, it would be a whole lot of negatives with little positives.

Would it make sense in a game design perspective if the Evil persona blackmailed Yandere-chan? Maybe they agree to not tell the police anything, as long as you give them panty shots or your own panties permanently, assuming panties give you other abilities. They could ask for you to humiliate yourself for them, lowering your reputation, and could also ask for other disturbing favors. That would make it so that they're distinct from cowards (Cowards only leave and get fucked over it, evil people fuck you over) and that there's a risk/reward associated with killing people in front of someone evil; especially if they're popular enough that they can't just be killed without anyone missing them.
I was thinking that as well! Like, you do favors for them for not telling. Like: "Oh... I see your good at this... Don't worry, I won't tell anyone what I saw. All I ask is a little... favor for my silence. I have a student I rreeaally don't like. I want you to kill them/ make their lives hell. I was going to do it myself, but why get my hands dirty?"
They're not different personalities, they're different faces that Yandere-chan puts on. Like removable masks that change the way others perceive her and how she acts towards them.

honestly it's kind of calming to hear you straightforwardly explain your games and your mechanics, your update videos always flow so nicely and you always seem to know exactly what you're talking about and how others will understand it. I don't play yandere sim but I watch these videos of yours because I enjoy them so much.
Personally I think a cool personality trait would be one where if they see you doing something suspicious they would black mail you, and if you don't give them what they want they will get you expelled or lower your reputation.
That's what I expected him to change the "Evil" persona for, someone who's evil won't just let you get away with murder, it's not evil, it's passive. An evil character would find a way to use the murder to his advantage, for example to blackmail you to kill someone else he hates.
the game ending reputation cutscenes were amazing! however, i dont like the persona mechanic, its too situational, just change when you need to doesnt sound strategic nor challenging, instead of the school, the mirror should be at ayano's house so you have to think about the benefits and consequences of using that persona, maybe the more you use a persona the less effective others will be, since it wouldnt be believable one day you're preppy and the next shy and timid, idk something to not abuse it, with kisana go elegant, with the deliquents go tough, with the occultists go shy, something to not be able to abuse the mechanic so easily, maybe having to spend in psychology so the persona penalty is less of a big hit on it or having to carefully plan which you're gonna need most throughout the game

Who else thinks there should be a mechanic in the game where eah persons reaction differs by how much blood there is and how many bodies they find. 1body, little blood: shocked, but their current reaction 2 bodies, meduim blood: very shocked, runs faster. 3 bodies, large blood: very very scared, runs faster. 4 bodies, huge blood: screams, runs the same as rank 3, nearby people wll investigate. 5+ bodies, enormous blood: terrorified, screams, nearby people will run there, runs same as rank 3, 50-50 chance of hiding. Goes to 70% if they see more boxies or blood on way to destination.
I don't think people even react to blood in the game right now. But something like that would be cool. Only thing is that all reactions should harbour a scream since they're just high school students, not hardened soldiers.
It might get annoying trying to constantly holding the button to get the right persona wouldn’t it be easier to use something like a choice wheel or list to pick from?
Yeah, also being able to change your entire personality on a whim seems like a *bit* of a stretch even for a sociopath. It seems like it would be more balanced and realistic to only be able to change it while at home, maybe include some minor changes to the character model to really show it off as well, such as a bunch of needless accessories while using the elegant persona.
Actually, considering that Yan-chan has been pretending to feel emotions for most of her life, I think that it's just consequential that she's able to change her appearing personality momentarily.
I have had an idea but I don't expect it to be noticed xD At the schools I have been to there is a canteen so people who don't have a packed lunch can buy foods this opens up a way to earning peoples trust by buying the students foods they may like for a higher reputation or lively persona as well as a reason why they have an incinerator (burning the waste) maybe one of the cooks help the cooking club bringing in difficulty defeating (second rival I believe correct me if I'm wrong) Amai Odayaka. *EDIT:* Maybe using the bins won't always be empty because the cooks have binned the food and things and maybe a cook going round back to the incinerator with a black bag and burn the contents preventing Ayano from using it for a period of time. These are just ideas that sprung into my head for a challenging but realistic environment

I think there are really evil people in real live who enjoy seeing others get hurt, so I didn't see anything bad in the evil persona. It was realistic
I think it would be great for the occult club members, when they don't hate the person they act all cowardly and stuff, but if they hate them they wouldn't mind seeing them hurt or suffering. It sounds more satanic and fitting for them.

That reputation cutscene is terrifying. Good job, Yandere Dev. I suppose that was that was what you were aiming for. Could you perhaps make all the cutscenes like this? Perhaps it would be better to keep the mirror in your own room. If your persona changes too much in one day or in one week, wouldn’t it be suspicious to the students who you commonly interact with to see your personality change so much? It would give an air of inauthenticity. In addition, I think that if you put the mirror in Yandere Chan’s room it would feel more realistic because it would give the impression that choosing a persona would be apart of her getting ready for school everyday.
It could also be a drama club feature, like, seeing a member acting would be represented as practicing (sorry for the english)
You have a good point. A good solution would also be, that you're only allowed to change your persona once a week. And if you join the drama club you can change it multiple times or as often as you like.
If we only keep it in the mirror in Yan Chan's room she couldn't change persona during the day and has to wait until she's back home. The player would loose one day.

Some suggestions:
1: Maybe he could add a lesbian/gay character? I know that he dosent want to add one because apparently in Japan they dont come out before they graduate, but maybe it would work well as a secret that you pay info-chan to get and that you can blackmail the student with?
2: (Personality idea:) Someone that calls their closest friend/s after witnessing a murder and informs them that someone dangerous is in the school, wich puts the friends that they called really at edge. Maybe this could be called a "Caring" personality? (Maybe it would fit for the gardener girl?)
3: I know that this is a very strict school, but if students can manage to get away with literally selling panty shots to eachother then some graffiti in the toilets or maybe where the delinquents hang out will be the last thing they'll be worried about getting caught for. Maybe you'll also see new graffiti appear as the week progresses. It'll definitely add a more realistic and " *Woah* technology! " feel to the game.
4: More options for the computer: Like looking at other peoples posts, being able to post photos, changing the wallpaper, writing down notes (etc)
5: Being able to take selfies with people (and posting them). Also depending on the person you post a pic with you might get a small boost or a drop in your reputation.

The persona thing is easily one of the coolest new implementations I've seen for the game.
Here's an idea: The Psychology Stat doesn't really do anything at the moment. How about each rank in the Psychology Stat nets you new personas? Or perhaps it could increase the bonuses that those personas give? Perhaps a persona won't be all that useful at all unless you know how to manipulate people properly. Players tend to use features more creatively when they're trickle-fed rather than dumped on them all at once.

Look. lore is fine and all, but it should be about player convenience. Imagine having to travel back to the same spot each time you want to change personas? Especially if it's only in the music room. It would be BS. Though, I'm assuming (or at least hoping because it makes sense) that Yan-Dev will put the mirrors in places they make sense. Like the bathrooms. It doesn't HAVE to be on the cellphone so long as there are more mirrors.
Yandere dev wont read this, but... Outside, behind the school, is a huuuuge place. So huge, that i can easily ask the rival to follow me out there, kill them, and get rid of the corpse without anyone seeing me, because the distance to everything is pretty far away. I think this is important to remember... Not to be rude or anything, its an amazing game he's/you're making, and i just want it to be more challenging and fun :)

That is a great point, but I would like to add a couple counter-points that will hopefully soothe your concerns:
1. I can't remember exactly which video(s) he said it in, but I recall Yandere Dev saying that he plans to add WAY more students to the final game. So it seems big and empty now, but it probably won't be so empty once the entire student body is finally implemented.
2. Let's imagine that worst case scenario, you are able to do exactly that to Osana in the final game. You are not going to be able to do that to ALL the rivals. Each rival is supposed to be harder to eliminate than the last, so (assuming Yandere Dev does his job correctly), asking the rival to follow you to a quiet corner of the schoolyard and then killing them WILL stop working.
Maybe there are lots of Sports Club members that hang out around that area. Also, he wants at least 90 students in the school :3 I’m pretty sure they’ll be spread out all over school grounds

Yandere dev, I was thinking that when Yandere Chan trips and falls with a bucket, nearby students will ask if you are alright but with a high reputation, they will try to help you up but when your reputation is low, they will have the current reaction

It's the little tiny, world-building, features; that don't add much, but are just little "Ways-of-life" thingy. It makes the game feel more real.... They're just great.
I like it, but it could go like this.
High: will run up to you with a worried expression and desperate to help you up
Normal: will ask if you are alright and help you up.
Low: will not help you and will respond with a different expression and reason why they didnt help (depending on your persona)
No persona: will snicker at you and start to tease you *maybe Senpai will notice you again, and help you up*
Tough: will be too scared

Maybe for the spiteful persona, if you befriended them prior to the murder, so when you do murder, you could do a challenging task for them so they'll keep secret. The task will have to be challeging of cource and that way the player won't have to spend so much time getting them bullied or getting your vittim bullied.

for anyone who read the persona list I think the aggressive persona should have the bonus of being able to pressure shy/fragile characters to help you in ways a bit more complex and a bit more disturbing than what you can do in the game currently with almost every student but with the drawback of lowering your reputation with most other students and maybe getting in a low caliber fight with heroic/delinquent students and possibly only being able to pressure students only when there alone.

I think that's oddly clever that all of the students laughing at Yandere-Chan in the game-over sequence look the same, but Senpai is his normal self. It really adds on to her personality (or lack thereof). If she lacks emotions and doesn't care about people or other things, why should they stand out to her? Her world's very black and white... except when it comes to Senpai. Senpai is her clarity, anchor, and everything that his been missing previously.

David Ryder well wisdom teeth grow in weirdly and you have to get them removed because they can cause health issues. When they remove them they put you on anesthesia so you don't feel the agony of your teeth being ripped out. The anesthesia however can cause you to see weird things and make you act differently.

What if a member of the drama club were able to catch YanChan changing personas in front of a mirror, and then start following her around? You could make it so that when you talk to the member, they beg you to join the drama club because they're impressed with your acting, giving you a prompt to answer yes or no.
If you say no, you could end up losing reputation.
If you say yes, you would, of course, join the club. However, you would have a few days before you'd be able to join a different club, and not attending activities for the week will not affect whether or not you're out of the club in the next week.
Also, saying no to the member will make it so that when you actually join the club, if you actually choose to, that time period in which you can't join another club will then be extended.
Just a thought. :)
This would result in a watch dog kind of situation. You either join the Drama club to get rid of them, which depending on what your actual goal was have a chance for it to be a negative, lose reputation but continue on your path (still a negative), or kill them (can be negative in various ways). Literally unless your goal was to join the Drama club, it would be a whole lot of negatives with little positives.

Maybe they agree to not tell the police anything, as long as you give them panty shots or your own panties permanently, assuming panties give you other abilities. They could ask for you to humiliate yourself for them, lowering your reputation, and could also ask for other disturbing favors.
That would make it so that they're distinct from cowards (Cowards only leave and get fucked over it, evil people fuck you over) and that there's a risk/reward associated with killing people in front of someone evil; especially if they're popular enough that they can't just be killed without anyone missing them.

honestly it's kind of calming to hear you straightforwardly explain your games and your mechanics, your update videos always flow so nicely and you always seem to know exactly what you're talking about and how others will understand it. I don't play yandere sim but I watch these videos of yours because I enjoy them so much.
Personally I think a cool personality trait would be one where if they see you doing something suspicious they would black mail you, and if you don't give them what they want they will get you expelled or lower your reputation.

That's what I expected him to change the "Evil" persona for, someone who's evil won't just let you get away with murder, it's not evil, it's passive. An evil character would find a way to use the murder to his advantage, for example to blackmail you to kill someone else he hates.

the game ending reputation cutscenes were amazing! however, i dont like the persona mechanic, its too situational, just change when you need to doesnt sound strategic nor challenging, instead of the school, the mirror should be at ayano's house so you have to think about the benefits and consequences of using that persona, maybe the more you use a persona the less effective others will be, since it wouldnt be believable one day you're preppy and the next shy and timid, idk something to not abuse it, with kisana go elegant, with the deliquents go tough, with the occultists go shy, something to not be able to abuse the mechanic so easily, maybe having to spend in psychology so the persona penalty is less of a big hit on it or having to carefully plan which you're gonna need most throughout the game

5+ bodies, enormous blood: terrorified, screams, nearby people will run there, runs same as rank 3, 50-50 chance of hiding. Goes to 70% if they see more boxies or blood on way to destination.
I don't think people even react to blood in the game right now. But something like that would be cool. Only thing is that all reactions should harbour a scream since they're just high school students, not hardened soldiers.
It might get annoying trying to constantly holding the button to get the right persona wouldn’t it be easier to use something like a choice wheel or list to pick from?

Yeah, also being able to change your entire personality on a whim seems like a *bit* of a stretch even for a sociopath.
It seems like it would be more balanced and realistic to only be able to change it while at home, maybe include some minor changes to the character model to really show it off as well, such as a bunch of needless accessories while using the elegant persona.

Actually, considering that Yan-chan has been pretending to feel emotions for most of her life, I think that it's just consequential that she's able to change her appearing personality momentarily.

I have had an idea but I don't expect it to be noticed xD At the schools I have been to there is a canteen so people who don't have a packed lunch can buy foods this opens up a way to earning peoples trust by buying the students foods they may like for a higher reputation or lively persona as well as a reason why they have an incinerator (burning the waste) maybe one of the cooks help the cooking club bringing in difficulty defeating (second rival I believe correct me if I'm wrong) Amai Odayaka.
*EDIT:*
Maybe using the bins won't always be empty because the cooks have binned the food and things and maybe a cook going round back to the incinerator with a black bag and burn the contents preventing Ayano from using it for a period of time. These are just ideas that sprung into my head for a challenging but realistic environment
