This is one of Jay's most lyrical records. He was in his bag with the metaphors. The sample in the hook is Prodigy from Mobb Deep. Funny thing is years later Jay and Prodigy would end up taking shots at each other. Shortly after Jay and Nas had their epic rap beef. Dope reaction, keep em coming.
Also the producer of this beat is called Dj Premier. He is a legendary producer who has made beats for all the legendary rappers past and present. He use to be in a group called Gangstarr with Guru who passed away.
