    My Daughter bought me a wax seal kit from Samyo, and gave it to me for Christmas. I am just now getting around to using it. I practiced on a few things: Wood, Paper, and Metal. The first few attempts my wax was running away from me, which had me laughing after the second run and confusion, when I found I had been working on an unlevel surface. It's level now. I really appreciate the time you took to make and share these pieces of content to help others work toward perfecting their ideal seals (

    good advice, especially about the temperature, most of my stamps are 2" to 3" inch diameter so I have to use a single burner on low to heat up that amount of wax & keep the seal on top a bag of ice. to hot can really mess up the stamp as well as the seal.

    • @katrinacrouch
      @katrinacrouch  Před rokem

      If you’re using a standard 1” stamper, I would estimate 6 sticks to get about 50 wax seals. BUT. It depends on the brand and size of the stamper. Artisaire has a handy calculator on on the listing pages for their wax (just scroll down a little) that can help take the guess work out for you ❤️

    Thank you so much for all those amazing tips to make our wax seals perfectly round, specially when using wax seals gun! I’d never realised before that we can turn off the gun from time to time, even if I choose to switch to low temperature. Brilliant!
    But one doubt is still in my mind. What should be the technique when we’re making square, oval, or even more complex shaped stamps seals?
    I loooove your approach! ❤ Love from Brasil.

    • @katrinacrouch
      @katrinacrouch  Před 4 měsíci

      Oh I’m so glad this was helpful!
      For ovals, you pour similar but you slowly pull your pouring device down a little bit until you form an elongated “puddle”. It takes a bit of trial and error because it isn’t as exact but pretty quick to master ❤️
      Squares: unless you have a wax seal “border” (I have a video on these coming soon), you will always have a slightly irregular look because you are mixing geometric and organic shapes-which I think is part of the charm of square stampers! You can try a slow “zig-zag” style pour to get more of a square edge (but then you get the ripples in your wax, which I personally dislike), or you can pour a slightly bigger circle and enjoy the thinner edges at the corners that highlight the unique qualities of your stamper

    • @katrinacrouch
      @katrinacrouch  Před 2 lety

      Pour super close to the surface! Like, have the glue gun/spoon be almost “in” the wax itself. The higher the pour, the more ripples it creates because the wax is cooling at different times

    My wax seals have bubbles but not so noticeable as seen in the video. They are smaller and not so noticeable. I admit my wax spoon can get too close the flame, but the bubbles form while the wax is still melting.
    I suppose bubbles are welcome if you have a mermaid stamp
    When it comes time to check if the wax seal is hard, I usually use the waiting time to clean the wax spoon, then I check the edges of the stamp to see if it is hard before lifting the stamp.
