    Hey I like all the ideas! I know you posted this a long time ago and have probably learned a lot about kayaking since but a couple times in the video you did a very high brace with your arm extended high above your head. This puts your shoulder in danger and makes it more likely that you could dislocate a shoulder. When I paddle, even while high bracing, I try to keep my elbow next to my body to keep them in what’s called “the box”!

      Spot on! I’ve learned a lot since recording these videos. Hopefully I’ll put out some more soon. Thanks!

    Glad I found this. Looking to do a whitewater trip next summer but haven't been kayaking since 2019 so hopefully these exercises will help prepare me.

    I have never been in a kayak.
    My friend and I are prepping for a kayak trip. I am in reasonably decent shape for my age. However I struggle with a bad back. My big concern is my back not holding out in the kayak position. Do you have an y experience or tips for me. I have been going to the gym for 8 months now working on core and upper body. I have lots of aches and pains but the two chronic and worst being back and knees. Any help for me to ready myself is appreciated.

    These exercises would be good for rock climbers, too.

    Thanks. Really useful. However, it would be great to have a slightly different video focused more on the mobility and less on the conditioning. As a CrossFit / strongman Athaleat who is getting into Whitewater I'm finding that my hipsnap / lataral hip movement is very short of where it should be. Slot of the hip mobility excercises (at the beginning, ) I can't really achieve without raising my hips with blocks. I'm already doing this, and pelvis openers, but any other ideas for lateral hip mobility and speed?
    Thanks.

      Great question. I think it takes a little bit of time and work. I have seen some really big dudes with very por mobility make some serious gains in one season. As much as I enjoy giving my input, I would regret not linking you to one of my mobility heroes, Laura Kummerle. Check her out her Instagram videos. She has countless hip mobility exercise. instagram.com/paradigmofperfection/?hl=en
      Let me know if this helps. See you and the water!

    I'd like to know about the mat you have in your home gym. After checking out several on Amazon and reading the comments, it seems there is no mat that would be good. What is your recommendation?

    • @everydayfitness6793
      @everydayfitness6793 Před rokem

      Sorry for the delay in this response. The black mat is a commercial gym mat I was given from a friend. I really do not know how to get mu hands on those. The dark grey mat is a carpet fatigue mat from Amazon. I have it double thick to match the height of the black mat. I know this is not supper helpful. Sorry.

      So two years later….I found where those mats came from. You can get them from tractor supply. Lol.
