This song was played at the funeral of my best friend.... a horse lover, whose own "Wildfire" was named Loco. When he died, she was very grieved. I get what some are saying about this being a secular song, but at least it's not filthy. As I listened, I thought of my friend (and other friends who have recently died), but I look forward to seeing them again. Our Redemption draws nigh!

Michael Martin Murphy and Larry Cansler wrote this song. It's been covered many times but I think Jimmy's is as close to the original than anyone.

I have loved this song since I was a little girl! I"m a Gen'xer, 47 years old, and this song takes me right back to my childhood. My little sister, cousins and I used to play this song on my Grandparents 8 Track and dance to it in their living room. Thank you for posting this video! It brought back a lot of good memories. This song was beautifully written and composed and your rendition of it is perfect! The piano solo at the beginning and end is beautiful too!

I feel the power of God when I hear this song, and recognize the God-given talent of those who wrote and played it as well as the incredible talent of Jimmy Fortune in singing this song.
