It was helpful to hear the amounts of yardage needed at the beginning. I like the way you fold large pieces. I may copy that. I don't save fabric bits either. I also cut left over fabric into 5", 10" and jelly strips and allow myself one tote of stashed scraps. Then I keep turning the irregular scraps into scrappy blocks until I have enough blocks for a quilt and I use the cuts for baby quilts for charity. Thank you for a well done, concise video of useful info.

It is frustrating when I know I have a cut of fabric and cannot find it. Also I would love to reorganize the fabric so I can see and shop in my fabrics. I have a huge amount of fabrics and sometimes I cannot understand why I am not able to find what I need. This video has helped me to rethink how everything is organized and what needs to change.

I recently got all my fabric out of tubs (well almost all) and out where I can actually see it. I fold my yardage around my ruler like you do and then store it in 1 yd - 2 yd - 3 yd or more shelves. I have bins for my leftovers cut into 2-1/2 strips sorted by color. We currently have a basket of 2-1/2 squares also but that's because my great grandsons are working on Minecraft projects with me. Your stash is beautiful and I don't have any where near what you have. Slowly working my way through it all so my granddaughter (who unfortunately does not quilt) won't have to deal with it. But I keep buying more for some reason. Those Friday unboxings are killing me. Thank you for sharing

My husband just built me a cutting table for Valentine’s Day and I’ve been trying to store the fabric in color ways so that I know what I have. This video gave me lots of ideas. Especially the 6 x 24 folding method. I already have a bin I throw my scraps in and am getting ready to go through again. I also have just moved and now have a sewing loft so am unboxing fabric that I forgot I had. I don’t just quilt, but also do fashion sewing and home dec sewing so this gave me lots of ideas. Thanks so much and keep doing these amazing videos!!!

Very informative. I keep my fabric in large tubs, mainly. I do have three quilts being worked on, and they are in their own containers. One is all paper pieced and I need to bring that tub into my living room, so I can take all the paper off the back, before I sew the squares together. "(It is what I call a pineapple quilt). That may be its official name, but I'm not sure. Thanks for sharing what you've learned over the years. I'"ve been quilting for about 35 years, when I was sewing for my two daughters. I sewed many doll clothes, including for Barbie, and started piecing bits together to make quilts for their dolls. I ended up making doll wardrobes for my friends; daughters, and even had some in a consignment shop. But now, I would say that making Irish Chains and paper pieced are my favorite to do. Again, thanks so much!
