Hello from Australia, Kev and Donna. We recently found you on u tube. Really enjoying the Kruger N.P episodes. The wildlife footage is amazing! Question: when your bbq - does the smell attract the animals to the fence? Do you get scavenging animal around the truck at night? How safe is it travelling around SA? We are preparing to overland and you guys are inspirational. Keep up the good work. Marie & Col
Oh wow this is fantastic to hear. Sorry for the late reply but we’ve been out of service . In Kruger, most of the camps have hyenas that patrol the fences at night and can definitely smell the meat . When camping wild, it’s always wise to take no meat to your tent as this will attract carnivores just as citrus will attract Ellies. When wild camping in Big 5 territory, you will inevitably get predators around camp at night and always need to be very vigilant. Despite what everyone says, SA is safe to overland and like anywhere in the world avoid crime areas, but the Parks are absolutely safe as can be and driving SA is generally very safe . Would love to meet up when you do get out to Africa to overland
Hi Kev and Donna, Have really enjoyed the series. That motorhome is awesome - a real thing of beauty. I was interested to see the butchery at Satara, the meat looked great. How was the quality ? We'll be in Satara at the end of October and was wondering whether to buy our meat in Hazyview just before entering the park or buy it fresh daily from the camp shop ? Any thoughts ? Keep up the great work, looking forward to the next adventure....
Aah so glad you enjoyed our series . We found the butchery at Satara great and very pleasant and helpful . They didn’t have too much on display over Easter weekend, but the guy behind the counter was very helpful and went to the back and got us what we needed and the quality was great too. We also found the Parks Shops also really well stocked with some really good meat products and a great and different variety as well. If there is something specific you like regarding your meat needs, you may find the bigger butcheries or supermarkets outside the Park better, but you will not be disappointed with what you get in the Park either . We are also back in Kruger towards the end of Oct and through November so hopefully our paths cross 👏🙌
@@thebuffalooverlander Thanks for the reply, Kevin. I think we'll make good use of the butchery at Satara. I hope our paths do cross at some point, we're in Kruger from 26 October to 10 November (satara/lower sabie/berg en dal) I,ll certainly recognise your vehicle, that's for sure. All the best Steven
