    I came across the 13 Luohan qigong during a time of severe illness and passing away of my younger brother who I grew up with in Singapore. Observing the movements I intuitively felt that this was the form that my system needed to cope with, balance and heal the strong emotions going through my heart, mind and body.
    It is a Buddhist practice to share merit with departed relatives. If, in any way the sharing of this film benefits another human being, I pray that the merit, coming forth from such a deed, be bestowed upon my departed brother.
    "Bhavatu sabba-maṅgalaṃ
    Rakkhantu sabba-devatā
    Sabba-buddhānubhāvena
    Sadā sotthī bhavantu te
    May there be every blessing. May all heavenly beings protect you.
    Through the power of all the Buddhas, may you always be well."
    Luohan quan (Chinese: 罗汉拳 Luóhànquán), which means "Arhat fist", is a general name for the styles of Chinese martial arts that are named after the Arhats, the Enlightened Ones. Luohan style is the oldest and the representative style of Shaolin Kung Fu. The original roots of Luohan style date back to the early eras of the Shaolin Temple. The first Shaolin Temple (of Denfeng) dates back to 494 AD. The heyday period of the Shaolin Temple was during the early Tang dynasty (618-907 AD).
    A „Luohan“ (Arhat) is regarded as the original follower of Gautama Buddha. He who has followed the Noble Eightfold Path and has reached the state of Nibbana, has become free of craving and ignorance and is no longer subject to rebirth and kamma.
    Shaolin Luohan Style Qigong is a set of 13 movements that was developed by Shaolin Monks, after contemplating and imitating different forms and expressions of Luohan statues in the monastery. It belongs to the classic repertoire of Qigong exercises in the Shaolin Arts around the globe.
    In comparison to the two previous Shaolin style qigong films in my playlist (the 8 brocades ‘Ba Duan Jin’ and the Muscle and Tendon Transformation Excercises ‘Yi Jin Jing’), the movements in this set can also be applied for martial application. All three qigong sets develop a strong foundation to remain powerfully calm and aware. It is recommended to start with the Ba Duan Jin, followed by the Yi Jin Jing and then the 13 Luohan.
    The postures names are:
    1. Old Monk Chopping Wood • Lao Seng Pi Chai
    2. Luohan Draping Coat • Luo Han Pi Yi
    3. Lazy Monk Lying on Pillow • Lan Seng Wo Zhen
    4. Double Hands Pushing Mountain • Shuang Shou Tui Shan
    5. Wind Swinging Lotus Leaves • Feng Bai He Ye
    6. Luohan Carrying the Flag • Luo Han Qi Ba
    7. Cloud Hands 7 Star • Yun Shou Qi Xing
    8. Tiger Hugging Head • Hu Bao Tou
    9. Rolling Hand Pushing Palm • Gun Shou Tui Chang
    10. Luohan Sifts Flour • Luo Han Luo
    11. White Snake Spits Center • Bai She Tu Xin
    12. One Hand Inserts Incense Stick • Dan Shou Cha Xiang
    13. Luohan Carries Basket on Arm • Luo Han Kua Lan

    I just want to thank you for your wonderful and very teachable!!! Videos.
    I watched wistfully for two years at the Louhan video while practicing ti Jin hing and 8 brocade
    Then today I discovered my tv has a setting to slow a video to 1/4 speed.
    I spent the last 2 hours going through Louhan! It’s my new project for the next 3 months… then maybe I’ll be able to do it at full speed.
    Blessings from the universe of unconditional love
    I am SO grateful for your videos.

    Can you teach us Daoist breathing methods?
    It would be also nice to see some standing meditation pracitces.

    • @Tara0Tao
      @Tara0Tao  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Thank you for your question and suggestion. In my own practice, I keep coming back to simplicity and living from the core. Concerning the breath, just to feel/know, accept and befriend my breath, moment to moment and relax into it. Likewise, concerning meditation, I am aware of all things coming and going through body and mind, be it standing, sitting, lying down or moving. When still, be aware of the movement going on inside, when moving be aware of your inner stillness. In the ever changing flux and flow of life, let it come, let it be, let it go. Anchoring within the realm of the Buddhist and Daoist teachings can keep the boat steady and give reliable guidance on the journey. May you be safe and well 🙏

    Today I've started the Luohan following you. Thank you.
    Ca I justask why is luohan movements faster then qiqong . I am used &practicing the last one & I am surprised hiw different is the Luohan

    • @Tara0Tao
      @Tara0Tao  Před 2 lety +1

      Luohan 13 is a form of qigong which originated from the Shaolin tradition. You can practise it at any speed you like, also much slower then what you see on the video. This applies to all the qigong forms in my playlist. I usually do my forms at a medium slow speed, otherwise the videos would become very long. Both slower and faster requires even more balance and control; as a practice you can try it out. Start at a pace where your attention, the feeling of your body and movement can more easily become one. Qigong is wide and deep with so many forms, lineages, ways to approach it, etc. Bear in mind that what is most important is to find that which links them all: the underlying basic principles like posture, sung, a concentrated empty mind. Be serious, yet light hearted, and use the energy of joy in your practice to carry you along. If you are sincerely motivated, then keep kindling your enthousiasm so as not to give up 🙏❤️

      @@Tara0TaoThank you so very much for taking the time to reply to me. Yes, I am, very serious& I will continue to develop and expand the QiQong practices to more &more levels and challenges. After all we are here to learn as much as we can for our higher self.
      Blessings ❤ to you&family

    hi! how about breathing during the excercises?

    • @Tara0Tao
      @Tara0Tao  Před 3 lety +2

      In general when you start practicing, be more concerned about being relaxed (sung). Practice often and you will find that your body will naturally indicate where the in and out breaths are in combination with the movements. Trust the intelligence of your body. In this particular form it is fairly obvious where the outpour of energy is, for example 1:50 in, 1:54 out. Happy practice!
