Out of all the Disney villains I've seen, Ursula has and always will be my favorite and I have Pat Carroll to thank for really giving so much life to such an iconic antagonist. I never get tired of hearing that amazingly evil laugh.
Thank you, Pat, for bringing so much joy to us poor unfortunate souls. For a character who's after someone else's voice, we will always cherish yours.

Oh c'mon now. Pat Carroll IS a legend; no one can take that away from her. But I think either Melissa McCarthy or Queen Latifah (which one did they decide on?) can step up to the plate and knock it out of the park. They're both good actresses.

That was awesome! It was so creepy and scary. Ursula's voice sounds exactly like the type of voice that you would hear at The Haunted Mansion.
So, there's only one question left to ask. Why didn't Disney hire Pat Carroll to do the Ursula voice-over for The Haunted Mansion? That would have been a really cool way to combine/overlap two completely different worlds. Unfortunately, Disney missed that opportunity. Pat Carroll passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2022. RIP.
I suppose the only way Ursula's voice could be added to The Haunted Mansion, now, is with some pretty sophisticated technology, which I'm sure Disney already has their hands on and knows how to use it.
Yes they do. They did it for Carrie Fisher in Rogue One. Most of her scenes in the movie are computer generated as well as her voice since she died during the project.
