- Christmas in the 1960's. Great footage of everybody dancing. There are so many fantastic songs from the era that would have been great to put on this film but then because of copyright, CZcams would take the video down so I have used something copyright free.It's still very evocative of the time though!

How lovely, just like it used to be.
People actually interacted with each other. I remember when many of the adults smoked and ash trays were everywhere. They had fun and kept it classy....interesting no one is staring at a phone.

great! I have a few 8mm rolls from the same period (1960/61) my father filmed, with almost the same images.
What's funny to look at is, of course, the fashion and the hair.
Everyone in top-dresses and suits. The ladies wearing their nicest outfit and lingerie.
One quite feminine movement in those years was the way a woman sat on a chair or on the couch ... always pulling down the dress to avoid the seeing of the lace of the petticoat / slip or even worse ... the nylons/suspenders!!! What a shame was that (lol) !!! (or sometimes intended, just to tease the friend or husband )
What I can see is that "adults" in those days looked older compared to today (at the same age)

Those were the days that I remembered. The girls were sexy and tempting and I loved it. No stupid pandemic at all..
First we had to eat off our laps, and I couldn't tell you what we were eating. Then someone turned on the record player, Debbie dug the music, danced her head off, had too much to drink and came on to Sweater Boy in front of Dad and evrybody. She got fired about a year later

Hi Sorry but I can't tell the exact year. I collect vintage films from estate sales and ebay, then digitise and post them on CZcams. There was no other information with this film other than the clothes etc to date it as being 1960s. The cine films on my channel range from 9.5mm film from the 20s and 30s to super 8mm taken as late as the 1980s. Whenever I can put an exact date on a film it will be in the description.
4 mins onward, that fireplace. Was this taken in the UK somewhere? It's looks like it. Wierd who that lady in the red chair smoked in the house. Reminds me of my aunt and grandmother

Hello Heather, The answer to your question is "I wish I knew", I collect vintage cine films, buying them from car boots, charity shops and ebay etc. Once I have digitised and edited them , the real detective work begins. Was there a postage label or anything on the box, can the locations be identified using google street view etc. Sometimes these orphaned films make a connection with someone, once I had a message from someone in Yorkshire recognising his aunty and realised it was his grandfather's film from the 1970's and I was able to send him a digital file but those occasions are very rare. So if you can add any information to any of the "cine film memories" on the channel I would be very grateful.

Me too, I source the films from eBay or car boot sales so have no idea who the people were.
Going by the comments here:

2. No mobile phones or internet meant people were in constant ecstasy;

Looks like a boring Christmas, not doing very much, just two women sitting in different chairs, hope it was more cheerful than this video suggests.
Perhaps whoever originally filmed the 8mm footage enjoyed a more sedate Christmas in those days 😊
