God bless whoever these people were who had the foresight to record Elliott's performances. Very common in the jam band scene, but the indie scene, not so much. My deepest appreciation to you folks!
What a testament to Elliot that he could reproduce album quality performances of his songs live without appearing stressed at all. Also kudos to his band. RIP to him we miss you dearly!
I was at this show and it was amazing. Met Elliott after in a bar in Albany and asked for his autograph…his response was “yea if you leave me alone “

George de Piro Ha! You have no idea how much I wanted them to just stfu. One really loud guy kept requesting Guns & Roses. It was horrible! But you know, that sort of thing comes with the territory of a free outdoor show. In addition to the die hard fans, you also get random interlopers who are there just because it's something to do, who probably had never even heard of Elliott Smith.
Hope you're not the guy yelling Elliott all the time ! 😂

Seen this a bunch of times but I never noticed how obnoxious the one guy in the audience is. Smith seems to get annoyed with him eventually too. He either couldn't or didn't want to play the first four or five songs he asked for but he keeps yelling "ELLIOTT! ELLIOTT!"
right? like why do you need his attention?what are you going to say to him? stfu and just listen.

Love all the shows from this era with Scott on the drums. I wish the keyboard player would have picked the tempo up a little on "Everything Means Nothing to Me," IMO with the arrangement being so thin compared to the studio version the slow tempo makes it much worse. Great show though.

I remember it being the golden hour at one point, with the long rays of sun shining in through all the buildings around the plaza. One of the best live shows I’ve ever experienced.
