I have nightmares thinking’s about what the Saints would have looked like if we had either one of those blokes, let alone both….
Scharenberg is too harsh. Blaming blokes for injuries is not right. Its the blokes that get drafted top five, spend three or four years on a list and play only few or no games. Or blokes that bring criminal behaviour. Not injured ones.
Will Walker was a horrible pick or North in 2017. Kid had barely played AFL after coming from a soccer background and kept getting serious injuries. Taken at pick 23, North could have had Balta, T Kelly, L Ryan, Daniels, S Taylor, Fritsch (who had North ties) or TDK. What a joke.
Scharanberg looked quite Good but 3 ACL's Stopped him having a Proper Crack
Was ravaged by injuries but also feel Bucks never really gave him a crack when he was fit
West Coast should have taken Allen with the Brander pick and Tim Kelly with the Allen pick.
Hindsight is wonderful, this would’ve been very good for us.

he did win the rising star award, but hasn't done much since, he's cooked though now that punting thing better work out for him

He was traveling really well until the gambling incident. He was never the same after that.

Patrick Mccartin is comfortably the worst because Petracca was the consensus pick 1 all year
he almost won a flag for Sydney . He was just unlucky
Rubbish. He was potentially a very good player. Was fantastic for Sydney in 2022. Career destroyed by concussions.
@@ma3stro681 Sydney didn't draft him, numbnuts. St Kilda drafted him with pick 1 over Petracca who was clearly the best player in the draft, and St Kilda got nothing out of him. This isn't a debate, McCartin is comfortably the worst draft pick in the last 10 years.
Sydney picked Dylan Stephens ahead of Caleb Serong and Hayden Young. Imagine their gun midfield with one of those guys included. Sydney have picked quite a few duds with their first picks in the past 5-6 years … 🎉
Think Matt Scharenberg shouldn’t be on this list. When healthy he was decent, he was elite in 2018 before that ACL. His body just couldn’t handle it. Jono O’Rourke is someone who comes to mind for me. Pick 2, 20ish games for 2 clubs.
Don’t disagree that O’Rourke didn’t live up to his pick - but he was drafted in 2012 so falls just one year outside eligibility for the list!

Pretty harsh video as hindsight is a beautiful thing. These players were drafted before those “better” players because they performed better than them in the junior competition and played the style and position that team was looking for at the time.

McGovern was not in the 2013 draft. Also it is irrelevant listing a player taken 50+ when talking about top 10 picks. No club in the league would have drafted mature age Tom Stewart over Jordan Gallucci for example.
Thats because Geelong were hiding him in their VFL team, they don't select these players by accident
