This model has been a labor of love but we finally got it all correct and it’s a beautiful bird now. It’s flying on two 6s 5000 smart packs on a power safe receiver. Using the recommended admiral motor and gecko ESC.
The Fieseler Fi 156 Storch (Stork) was a German liaison aircraft built by Fieseler before and during World War II. Production continued in other countries into the 1950s for the private market. It remains famous for its excellent STOL performance and low stall speed of 31 mph (50 kmph). French-built later variants are often seen at air shows today.
The model is scaled to approximately 1:5 and attention was paid to a true to original appearance and best flight characteristics. The model can be operated using an electric power system or with an internal combustion engine about 30-35cc displacement.
    Features:
High level of prefabrication right out of the box
Lightweight, strong, laser cut balsa and plywood construction
Panel lines and details printed directly onto the pre-applied, high quality covering
    Aerofoiled tail surfaces
Recessed hinges on all control surfaces
    Pre-drilled hinge mounting holes
Heavy-duty pin hinges on all control surfaces
Large easy access fuel tank/battery/servo access hatches with sprung loaded latches
Painted and detailed cockpit, pilot and interior included
Fiberglass control horns with ball link connector
comprehensive control and fitting accessories included
Two-piece, plug-in wings simplify transportation and assembly

I have not seen a model Storch doing scale-like STOL and extreme slow flight yet. It looks to me like most are too heavily wing loaded due too heavy light-ply laser cut construction. The full scale Storch flew at 110mph and took off and landed in a very short space. I'll bet that Pat Tritle could design a very lightly loaded 60 inch wsp model Storch that would fly very scale-like on a small light but adequate brushless motor/prop and battery combination albeit in calm air. Congratulations on getting the BH version flying as well as you did.

That is just awesome. Above my expertise. I love to see big planes low and slow. Did you say this flight was December 22nd?
A beautiful model. Great job. Great weather there.

Guys, I want to say this has been a great experience between Wesley and myself. Sometime frustrating, but always a challenge. In todays Modeling is the lack of challenge. I must ask you, are you really challenging yourself. Maybe its time to assemble something that takes more than four screws. This plane still does not fly like I want it too, still challenging.
I hope this makes you think about your hobby and where you are going. Maybe your missing the challenge!

Well done guys. Your setup is very similar to mine. Where is your cg at? I had mine way too nose heavy at 115mm measured from LE of slats.

Have you gotten it to slow down on the landings...Looks a little hot on landings? I just bought a 1/6 scale (93) inch Fieseler Storch kit. Its going to take a while to get it together. RC

@Merry Boozer RC Thanks - any idea on the wing loading? Curious because that’s what would make it fly like the real one: a nice low wing loading 🙂
