I had a 12yr from probably 2018 or 2019 (bought it based on Ralfy's recommendation) and thoroughly enjoyed it. It had this marzipan note that I really liked. The newer one is quite a different proposition, and I'd agree with you that it's a mood thing which one I would prefer. And thanks to you I picked up a batch 3 of the 10yr cask strength, that was great advice!

Ok, so I completely agree with your take on the wine finished product-particularly GA. One exception, other than PX and Olo-the Grattamacco. The neck pour was just blah. Came back to it 10 months later and it was off the charts
50:08 then id imagine that you and Jeremy would adore the Glenfarclas 185. In my opinion, few other whiskies, especially at that price point, have done the young and old blend quite like that bottle.
I love it. Not sure if Jeremy tried it.
I have the new batch and its really good whisky the color is something to behold anything Glenallachie is usually top notch.

The best Glen 12 for me was bottled in 09.2021. It was less than 40$ back then. That was my fav Glenallachie 12 of all so far. Loch Lomond 12 is 40USD in Bulgaria right now. Bought 10 cask strength Batch 5 for 55USD. 2 months ago bought Batch 7 for even less like 50USD! Amazing promotion.

I've enjoyed the older batches of GA 12. I did a side by side of 2018 and 2021 and picked the 2021.
Also, that Flaming Heart 5th Edition is my favourite Compass Box I've ever had. I have 3 bottles of it currently and would hoard more. Hope you like it as much as I did.

35:23 a lot of people actually sell fancy boxes from expensive and/or rare whiskies. The fraudsters especially would love to get their hands on those bottles.

Ya cask strength almost always wins for sure. It depends on batch for the 10 but I agree.
Flintstones vibe on the lettering of the Glenallachie. The single cask bottles look better imo. The new 18 is £138 which was a tad disappointing.
Glengoyne is only 13 miles NW of Glasgow. Not cold, pretty damp though.

13:22 - Exactly how old is that bottle of HP 18? If it dates to 2009 or earlier, it's likely to be very, very good whisky, and it was still quite good up to the point Highland Park began the viking themed promotion.

hey rob, have you tried the most recent Laphroige 10 Cask strength batch 15. It's amazing. It won blind between batches 7, 8 , 12, 13, and 14 between my and ma boys. I might even like as much as the 18 that was all the rage.
Nice! I have two bottles sitting on the shelf unopened of batch 007. I bought a bottle of 8,9,10 and my friend had batch 11. I remember being really into 9 but really liking all of them obviously, hard to go wrong. Ha.
Haven’t tried the new one unfortunately l. Sounds like I have to.

Batch 9 had the most epic moments for me, but batch 10 was the most consistant imo.

glengoyne is hot as hell even for a 40yo, I i tried a malt of Scotland IB at a whisky fair. really burnt my palette😢
