Letting Billy use an electric guitar is like letting mike Tyson bring a baseball bat into the ring.
OK, now that was funny! And spot on.
💯
Letting him? Who would disallow him?

Perfect
Nice.
I really appreciate his “If I likes it, I plays it” attitude.
2023 and we can see a bluegrass band play Sabbath and everyone loves it!
I like that he’s not completely partial to one genre even when playing live
A lot of guys like him will appreciate this music but only play their usually genre live
Billy is different
@@samouellette5130 He is a bit bold. And it shows....
Play it well at least. does the band even know the song?
@@alexanderdubious9469 most likely they do but if it seems like they dont then maybe it's because they could be playing by memory and on the spot live, pressure sinks in and you start to forget what you thought you knew
A Wizard is never late....especially when laying down a slick bass beat
👏🏼
He drops the beat precisely when he means to
Or at 7:09
Right..........
Let me guess.....you're jewish
Insane talent that passes the cool test, covering Sabbath while dressed as a tricksy hobbit. Guy just keeps getting more awesome every time I listen.
Naww what you don't get is it they actually dressed liked this and wrote songs about the Hobbitverse of TOLKIEN. Billy did such an incredible job. I'd have to see him in person to give full props haha.
I thought he was dressed as Jimi Hendrix 😂
I wore those ears for a Mr Spock costume once, keeping them on for 10 minutes was hard enough
@@masediggity mansplain harder daddy 🥵
Holy shit...wasn't expecting the vocals being so spot on!
For real totally off the hook
I took a double look too 😮
crazy right?!?
Definitely one of T-Pain's best songs
Oh, did he sing it too?
Seriously? He owned that cover. Ozzy said his cover is the best he’s ever heard.
Guess I missed it, had the original on vinyl.@@90whatever
T-Pain’s cover is excellent
That is a blasphemous statement!!!! Lol T-pain did do an excellent version!!! Black sabbath owns this one!!!
I was a teen when this song came out by Black Sabbath. That was a LONG time ago. 72 now. Still love it. Hearing it played to perfection by this band is just fantastic. Keeping the best music alive in this day and (sad) times. The song is as relevant now as it was back then. They absolutely nailed this song, note for note.
@@davekegley4724 I would agree. However I can only imagine what older people, and my parents were thinking when they heard me play Black Sabbath or any of those great late 60's band with their evil or crazy lyrics and sounds (e.g. In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida). They grew up with Big Band, Swing, Perry Como, Dean Martin, etc. That music was excellent for that time (and still is). Classic Rock (in my opinion) was the greatest, maybe because that is what I grew up with thru high school and college. I am trying to keep and open mind with todays "music" since I have 5 young grandchildren I have introduced one of my grandsons to the Beatles. He is 10. He likes the pre-64 Beatles music the best. I think I do too. Peace.
Played to perfection? Not possible. Billy and his band are great musicians but Black Sabbath songs of the 70s can't be covered by anyone to perfection!! I have to mention the reversal of the lyrics, they are as follows by Sabbath. "Death and hatred to mankind..poisoning their brainwashed minds." Not the mistakenly sung version here by Billy. Although a very good executed cover, don't get me wrong. I love Billy and company but no comparison to the overwhelming power of the original War Pigs by Black Sabbath line-up of Ozzy Iommi Butler and Ward. I think Billy would agree also.
@@jjustice39 Played to my perfection. Wow. You like to argue.
72 means you got to live through the best music has ever had to offer , fact ! I'm 48 i feel a little robbed I do, of coarse being the hillbilly I am would of loved to seen Skynyrd, i was 2 when they went down, in Kentucky if your drunk and don't holler free bird they can take you to jail , lol, remember a time the CRUE was so hated around here from older religious folks cops write ya tick for noise pollution, they kinda come off as devil worshippers ,when they came out may have been who knows,
1970…
A banjo on War Pigs.
Fucking monster move.
Made my day.
Billy's great, but the drummer deserves a nod too! He's killing it!
Got to be a good drummer with Sabbath
Duane Trucks , Derek's brother on the drums
Samwise Gamgee can shred. I didn't realize The Shire had such a great metal scene.
It's due to all the Dust in a (Bilbo) Baggie the Hobbits have inhaled!

A banjo, fiddle, mandolin, and cello. I must admit, not quite the ensemble I had envisioned for a Black Sabbath song, but it works... LOL
Man does it..
Check out Toni and the KiKis version ... Also very different but amazing as well... Warpigs on a jazz-master with a piano solo with excerpts from "freedom" interwoven? Not something I knew I needed but damn glad I found em.
Missing didgeridoo , oh well
@@cliffsandifer3877 ya can't please all the people lol.

Jesus Billy nailed this one ....!!! Talented SOB, he can play OH he can play, awesome voice he's got it all....😮
Just when I thought I couldn't be anymore impressed with Billy Strings... bamm, he changes it up to another level! Brilliant!
He's a once in a generation talent
Genius
Seriously. Covering Sabbath dressed in LOTR attire..WHAT!?!?!
This song rings just as true today as it did when made. 😢
this song would ring true in any era, because of the nature of war.
Yes but for today it stands even more so these days
netechnology
@SeanEnginetechnology which is exaclty what every generation says
This man’s a true musician can go from the fastest cleanest flat picking you could ever want to classic rock.
Never listened to this dude before now. Extremely talented.
This dude looks like that bard that single handedly keeps the campaign going and the party alive
Straight out of Witcher
His voice stands with all greats in southern rock and country
Certainly sings better than Ozzy lol
All rock. 👊🇺🇸🧂
Go Dawgs!

The Shire is fucking lit, can't believe they convinced Ian McKellen to get up there and shred for one last show. Shine on you crazy diamond.
Geeze he even sounds like Ozzy singing. Billy actually has many different sounds with his voice depending what he’s singing. The man is talented in so many ways.
Caught him do Paranoid at red rocks with string cheese incident… I’m young but I grew up loving Black Sabbath. They rocked my socks off. It was like listening to the original studio version. Billy got the juice…
@@squishybuffalo
Well I’m an old fart that grew up in the 70s listening to many of the old bands from Black Sabbath to Rush. I appreciate someone being able to have Ozzy’s sound because It’s so very unusual. Now if he can sound like Geddy Lee then it would double blow my mind😁
Billy is cool. He gives me hope for this younger generation of musicians. He’s proof that you really can still make it today through musical talent and playing with your soul. Right on.
Black Sabbath... the first metal band meets a good ol country boy like me. I almost feel like my life is complete
Heavy rock , acid rock not metal !
THE DUDE IS AN ABSOLUTE WIZARD WITH A BASS!
Never talking
Just keeps walking
Spreading his magic

I'm 56 . NO CLUE who he is . This video " Suggested on the right, THIS is my FAVORITE song of all time, GREAT COVER .
May I suggest literally every single video on my channel. I've seen Billy 43 times now. This is where real, genuine music is now. Thanks for coming.
@@BillytheKid-33 cool alright
Billy started off as a metal singer. What a badass cover.
Bro he slays this song. Doing Black Sabbath serious justice!
Drummer is killin it. Damn.
The over the head clap as an ode to Ozzy really hit home for me on this one… Good job, Kiddo!!
Props to the drummer. Excellent timing. \m/
The true backbone of the operation, especially with this song .
The drummer def nailed it.
I wasn't feeling the drummer
Rocking the Bill Ward bandanna headband, too! Bonus points!
He was what I first noticed, He did a fine job.
Such a versatile musician. Also very humble. Needs more praise and recognition.
Holy shit....I just discovered Billy Strings recently in a concert on PBS. I thought he was just Bluegrass. He nails this awesome Black Sabbath classic.
check out his zeppelin, pink floyd, pearl jam covers.
Dude is hitting it all for me...I'm a child of the 80s..sabbath...zep...floyd...and I love all the bluegrass too...
This dude can play anything. Bad ass
Honestly. this is one of the 3 greatest Black Sabbath covers I’ve heard EVER, and no doubt theee best one outside the HM genre.
That was Freaking Awesome. I'm 60 and a guitarists and huge Sabbath fan. Incredible rendition Billy
Billy Thankyou for visiting our planet you can stay as long as you want !!!!!
It is so great to see musicians again actually playing instruments! The future of music is still alive!
song still relevant 70 years later
and will be 70 more
Yes, There's no shortage of War Pigs around the world!!!!!!
70? It came out in 1970…
The song was actually about a book they read which was a satanic holiday. The distributors (record label) said they had to change it to war pigs.
53 years lol
How this song is timeless and ever relevant
There is nothing Billy can't master in music. The more I listen the more he becomes my favorite all around musician.
If TOOL lets u jam onstage with them u are definitely something special
Billy Strings is a chameleon of Rock and Roll. He can channel virtually anyone.
ummm he's a bluegrass guy who can do anything
Lol
Would love to see Billy and John 5 sit down and trade licks and pick together. 2 super diverse dudes that absolutely love playing anything and everything.
@@rb3011 Who is this John 5 you speak of? I will use the sacred Google to find out.
@@rb3011I looked him up. He is obviously a great guitar player. I just don't care much for angry white boy music. It's like the opposite of gangster rap yet still somewhat the same.
The band is smokin..friggin unreal..and that's from a 60 yr old
I am also 60 years old and I agree 100%. Billy is one hell of a musician.
@@mikepetry2410
Yup. I'm 72. Gotta love guys like Billy
Billy is gnarly.. I remember first hearing Dust in a Baggy years ago... back when I, myself, typically had some dust in a baggy laying around.. But damn he's talented.. That's so awesome to see him jump back and forth between Bluegrass and Sabbath and perform both like he's freaking Jimmy Paige or the patron saint of guitar or something.. I love Bluegrass, classic rock, folk, etc. It's cool that he only resides in the best genres. I guess this is kind of like heavy metal Bluegrass or something lol...
First time hearing this guy and have to say this is the best rendition of this classic that I’ve ever heard before.
Keep an eye on "this guy" cuz he's absolutely insane on the guitar (any kind). He's young and he's already one of the top 10 (easily) best of all time.

This dude is badass.
Billy goes from BS and Ozzy to singing at the hollywood bowl singing at Willie Nelson's birthday party....... and rocked them both.
Now that will certainly put a smile on Mr. Iommi's face!
“One does not simply walk into Mordor…unless you can shred!”
Honestly might be one of the best covers I've ever seen
Maybe that's the problem. You should listen to it instead of looking at it.
@@slave_planet It ain't that deep bro, relax
This guy is probably the best ever he can play any type of music just pure brilliance
They can all do it billy just needed the recognition, this is just a cover boy
Versatile, Improv and pure raw talent!
Ozzy and Iommi all in one....Damn, you go Billy!
Freaking rocking! So...Gimli on drums, Gandalf on bass, Aragorn on banjo, Sam on mandolin, and Frodo is, of course Billy. Amazing!!!
Don’t forget Legolas on violin!
Dude Billy is like Ozzy, Johnny Cash, Elvis, Ricky Skags all into one. Great talent... Im going to come find him and watch him for a night. Going to be a good time. Billy we Love ya bro.
One of the great rock songs that Black Sabbath put out there to warn humanity what we're up against. I've got this song at #5 in my top 10 channel playlist. Great cover by these guys by the way.
So what v are the 4 songs above this one?
@@AndyWrasman , channel playlist
Wow, he sounds like a young Ozzy!
Absolutely! Love his talent, whatever he picks is just crazy, his crop pants, colorful outfit doesn’t even take away from it! My husband is a country musician band leader of older (true genre) generation. Showed him some recorded shows on PBS of Billy Strings and he was glued to the program. It was one of those fund raisers for PBS. It really was fantastic. But you never see him when he have you amazed at his God given talent. Billy tells you it was watching his dad play with all his friends, but I feel his Heavenly Father had His hand in it too! ❤ what a celebration! 🎉🎉🎉❤❤
Awesome cover. Billy is amazing on the guitar, but his voice blew me away. Thank you for Sabbath.
Banjo on War Pigs? IM IN!!!!!!!!
Song is over 50 yrs old and still better than current music. My 17yo rocks out to this and Zeppelin! These guys did a great cover!
All songs that are from 40 to 60 years ago are better than the music of today! Only a select few bands from off the beaten path today can compete! Avi Kaplan, Paper Kites, are both great. But most music today sounds like it was all spun and produced on the same crappy conveyor belt! So glad I got to hear music back in the 60s and 70s and early 80s. Back then, the music was created by artists, today most of it is just sung by those who are handed something to them and told what to sing. Brainwash the young into thinking it's good, when in reality it's all the same crap without any creativity.
Ok boomer
@@gregkuhn7123 Ok Shit he*d. Music from '65-81' * Rock, Country, Blues, Mountain Music & folk was incredibly free-flowing & genius. Natural flow of Appalachian tunes, lyrics, & lifestyle - felt natural. Billy is courageous for "War Pigs". DAVID GILMOUR with DAVID BOWIE Comfortably Numb! Billy does it all and right on point..amazing
While I was listening I thought of him and Derek Trucks playing together. Some of the best of the best.

What a great fucking take on this tune. That intro with the much straighter, quarter notes on the ride cymbal, but still laid back, country-western type of rhythmic cruise to it. And what a great voice he’s got!!
Never thought I’d see Billy cover this amazing T~Pain song
He's wearing elf ears.....awesome
I love the lyric slip that he just powers through
Wow, his voice is perfect.

Amazing
Knew he could play it but didn’t think how perfectly he could nail the singing.
Way go Billy! And a great job by the drummer.
Are you kidding me?! This is incredible.
❤ ❤❤ saw Billy in Pittsburgh and he was awesome!!!
Great cover! Gandalf on bass-makes sense: the steady grounded backbone to the Fellowship.
While Frodo humbly shreds the Ring to its doom!
While plucky Aragorn regains his rightful throne on banjo!
While Gimli gloins the depths of the Mines of Rhythm
While steady Sam humbly serves the band on his mando!
And last of all, while the graceful Legolas strings up his bow!
I thought that was Banjomir!
just ,,,,,,, WOW !!!!! no words
Perfectly stated.
You may as well own this song Billy. Best Cover in History. Musician on Musician! Not a Single Nuance Missed.
Amazing musician
Cannot image anyone covering Black Sabbath’s classic “War Pigs” any better than this. He sounds exactly like young Ozzie. I trust that someone has shown this performance to Ozzie and Tommy Iommi.

So freaking good! You made Sabbath proud!
I always listen to this song on Easter 🐇 Billy resurrected war 🐷🐖 from the ether.
Don't think I've been this impressed with a guitarist since SRV.
I had been in Asheville a couple of years when he played here. God wish i could've gone to this one.
tough to play and sing that song at the same time! great version, band played it loose and kept the train on the tracks!

Amazeballs. One of my favourite songs from back in the day.
This young man is just amazing and will go down in history as one of the most talented guitar/musicians of all time ,I have watched him since he was a teenager and I am in awe of his natural ability.
This dude', is what you call''' a Prodigy", he not only played all the proper notes, but adlibbed a lot that should of been'', that just shows his talent beyond the notes''.
This was some ballsy shit man . Billy stepped WAAY out of his comfort zone and pulled it off . Right on, he's not scared to pull anything . :)
He definitely did not step out of his comfort zone here. He played in a metal band before bluegrass and lists sabbath as one of his favorite bands of all time.
I knew from the first time I heard this boy play with his daddy he was gonna be something big he has a talent that all the greats have
He has the single best rendition of don't think twice i have ever heard.
