    These definately work. Ive seen homemade versions work in the past. Definately best to check with any fishery that already has fixed feeders banned tho folks.
    Ps. If you buy map tks elastic u get 6m for about £7

      Thank you for confirming this works, there are others that don’t think it will 😂 even though I have used them. I agree though always check with the fishery you want to use them on 👍🏻 is the Map elastic as strong? 💪🏻

    This rig works great, I made some last night with elastic I had on my pole, the people in the comment saying that It doesn’t work are incorrect. You can cast perfectly with it. It doesn’t pull out on the cast because that egg quick change is wider than the stem. Take no notice of the haters westy this is brilliant and will be using it from now on 👍🏻

      So, please explain why what you see at 9 mins 19 seconds can't happen on a cast when the main line is pulling at the swivel and the tail cap offers little resistance?

      @@JohnBall-gw8cl The quick change egg swivel can't stop the elastic stretching out of the opposite end of the feeder though. Although the design allows the elastic to only pull completely out one way, this design allows the elastic to STRETCH out BOTH ends (especially on casting), thus stretching the elastic instead of compressing the rod.
      My question is... what stops the elastic stretching out at the tail end where you tie the swivel to the main line? Take a look at the video titled "How to make ANY METHOD FEEDER ELASTICATED!" Feeder fishing" at 12:30 and he describes the same issue (that will happen on both systems).

    Great tutorial film pal 👍 ive always loved the idea of an elasticated stem but unfortunately the lakes I fish have banned them😢 mostly due to fish care which is totally understandable. The preston version I agree is a death trap and its relying on the ics to do the work which doesn't always happen as we know. The Guru one is bang on and works more or less on the same principle as your version 👍well done mate 😊👍

    What about really heavy cast...? That's why in Preston's mainline is tied to a stemp not to a elasticated gum, during heavy cast gum will come out from a stemp.

    • @WestysAngling
      @WestysAngling  Před 7 dny +3

      No this doesn’t happen as the tail rubber /sleeve stops the elastic coming backwards 👍🏻 it’s mostly for commercials this anyway so casts of like 20-30ft max 🎣 also when your casting the egg quick change won’t fit back through the stem, it will only pull out forwards

    The Guru X-safe system does not allow the elastic to pull out of the rod/reel tail sleeve end of the feeder. This is due to the hole in the end of stem being narrower than the bead. You cut that narrow end off the preston stem, so the your swivel can pull out that end and stretch the elastic out on the cast (against the weight/inertia of the feeder), and pull the tail sleeve off. Why not simply take a x-safe stem (that works) and change to a heavier elastic if that's the problem you have with them. It's unlikely that a venue that permits x-safe only, would permit your attempt to achieve similar.
    Your system would work if you kept the narrow stem end and used a squashed diamond eye swivel small enough to pull through the hole in the stem, with a barrel too big to pull through.

    • @WestysAngling
      @WestysAngling  Před 7 dny

      You aren’t thinking about this correctly the pressure on the cast pulls in the opposite direction, so the ‘quick change egg’ part of the rig pulls snug into the feeder it’s too wide to go up the stem 👍🏻

      @Bob-sh9sw Před 7 dny

      @@WestysAngling The egg part WILL stay in place during casting, that's not in question. The tail end swivel will pull out the other end and stretch the elastic on the cast. Tie some line to your tail end swivel, hold the feeder and pull hard (like the shock of a cast). Elastic will now pull out the wrong end of the feeder, albeit the egg swivel will stop the elastic pulling all the way out or just watch your own vid at 9 mins 19 seconds to see what would happen.
