Rage is a first-person shooter video game developed by id Software and published by Bethesda Softworks, released in October 2011 for Microsoft Windows, the PlayStation 3, and the Xbox 360, and in February 2012 for OS X. It was first shown as a tech demo at the 2007 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference and was announced at the QuakeCon. Rage uses id Software's id Tech 5 game engine and is the final game released by the company under the supervision of founder John Carmack.
Rage is set in a post-apocalyptic near future, following the impact of the asteroid 99942 Apophis on Earth. Players take control of Nicholas Raine, a soldier put into hibernation in an underground shelter who emerges into the wasteland a century later, and finds himself a wanted man by an oppressive organization known as The Authority. The game has been described as similar to the movie Mad Max 2, and video games such as Duke Nukem, Fallout and Borderlands.
Rage received mainly positive reviews, with reviewers praising the game's combat mechanics, gameplay and graphics while criticizing the lack of story, characters, and direction. A sequel, Rage 2, was released on May 14, 2019. - Hry

Probably the best shooting mechanics ever in an FPS up until that point. While the writing was lackluster, it looked and played GREAT. I loved how each faction had it's own unique style that fit with whatever dungeon you encountered then in. A must play on the hardest difficulty.
I played the game without any expectations about 1 or 2 years after release. I liked it very much and still fondly remember that unique experience. Cool video, thanks.
I think that's exactly the case with this game. Take the game on its own merits, removed from the hype and the developer's history and you're left with a genuinely unique experience.

@@sueflewelling3657 Not sure if I'd review any souls games because I don't think I could say anything that hasn't already been said, but Darks Souls is my personal favourite game. I like the Arkham games but I personally prefer the first one.
I think it’s a cool game and I didn’t play it till 2020 lol. I don’t have crazy expectations. Although I didn’t finish it so I guess I didn’t like it that awful much but it was fun, rage 2 was way way improved and is an awesome game in my opinion, I bought all the stupid dlc (not the skins the extra game/weapon dlcs) just too let them know I think as much lol. Idk I try and vote with my wallet it makes sense to me. Also it’s not great and it’s not a great shooter, but for me being theee when it came out I love doom 3 to death, and still play it from time to time (reurrection Of evil usually it has a lot of added good stuff to make doom 3s base combat to make it more fun.
Microsoft is going to melt the studio down and sign the staff into slavery to toil in the Call of Duty mines.
