Thank you, though I grew up in the 70's/80's, this was fabulous, I miss Steigers, Baystate West and Johnson's Bookstore and how Eastfield Mall looked then.

There was a time in the from 1967 throughout the 1970's and into the mid 1980's you could walk up the Northend into the Southend of the city and there were lots of little mom & pop stores with deals!

You can go in the settings and adjust the playback speed. The music sounds kind of creepy though.

Wow! The Shoe Box! I bought my very first pair of sneakers there with my own money I saved up from summer jobs. Mom took me downtown on the bus from Hungry Hill so I could make my first official purchase! Great seeing my old hometown. Thank you for sharing these images!

"Scumbag invasion?" Enlighten me please as to whatever "scumbag" you are referencing. I'd like to know the history of the town i was born in.

@@BboySquidfoot Yes. No problem. Anyone over the age of 20 would know clear as day what I'm talking about and who I'm talking about. These said "scumbags" would be those that insist on carrying around illegal guns for shooting people because they're low intelligence cowards, those that stab people, mug people, assault people, and make areas of Springfield decline into misery because the intelligent and hard working people leave, the businesses close down and no one wants to be there. Those who steal rims off cars or the whole car itself, those that deal drugs, especially to kids, screwing up their own community, those that litter everywhere and have no self respect or pride in their surroundings, again like "scumbags". Those that disregard the laws and endanger others constantly, especially driving. Those that are stuck on stupid and don't take advantage of public education and financial aid to better themselves in life. This has increased dramatically over the years. It never used to be that way. There was always issues, but not on the scale it is now or has been for many years. ANYONE actually from Springfield knows this. There's basically two types of people in life, those that work, try to do the right thing and respect others...and then there's scumbags. It's unfortunate there's such a large amount of the latter in Springfield. It's like there's a "scumbag culture" and some are fully embracing it. Proud to be dumb, negative and a menace. SMH
Look at the photos in this video and go look up the crime statistics from then compared to recent times. Roll around Springfield any day or night from the north end to the south end to The X to Mason Square to East Springfield and it's painfully obvious. Talk to teachers and administration in the schools. Talk to the police and firefighters. It's facts, it's not accusations. Even still, there's nice areas and good people in Springfield. It's just too bad there are so many degenerates.
