- Consisting of two identical channels Lúbadh allows you to instantly record, playback, overdub, trim down, scan through and pitch up or down any audio signal.
Inspired by the aesthetics and mechanics of early tape techniques each channel features an analogue input circuit which adds slight compression, filtering and saturation. On the first recording, the sound may appear slightly fuller and warmer,
re-recording audio back and forth will compound this effect over time allowing you to create dense tape like textures. - Hudba
Oh man, I just got one yesterday and I'm deeply in love... Anyway, I'm sure that I will come back to this video for reference more than once so I thought this might help :)

Omri Cohen thank you Omri. Could you tell me please where you got this module ? Cheers 😃
@@dorientexp I got it from Schneidersladen in Germany...
Omri Cohen Cheers thanks
much appreciated!
you are a gentleman and a scholar
Hello everyone!
Here it is. Full feature length Lubadh video.
For anyone in quarantine or self-isolation, this will hopefully serve as some distraction for a couple of hours.
I maybe ran a bit long on certain examples, but I tried to keep it all musically relevant and example driven.
The written manual will be following soon. Day to day Instruo operations are mostly as normal, but there have been hold ups in supply chain. So anyone waiting, I really appreciate your patience. More Lubadh, Arbhar and of course øchd are all in the pipeline.Stay safe, and please enjoy :)
Cheers!
Jason
Instruō I was curious, can you record the reverb effected signal on to the second deck? Great video, I should be getting mine this week
@@briangarrison2021 You can indeed! Both decks can function completely independently from the other. Any audible result from one side's output can be captured directly onto the other deck :)
Calm Instruktion thanks ! But as much as is Shown the almost constant use of the time knob I really wonder why you didn‘t gave it a decent knob, or of course I’m gonna use a big knob and get it‘s cv in 😌
Really dig the feedback patching and microphonic stuff
most beautiful aesthetic modules ever!
Another amazingly beautiful, elegant, and powerful module - super inspired! Can't wait to have one in my rig.
This is such an outstanding demo in terms of format and functionality. Great explanation of the module!
WOW Jason ! the end is a pure music jewel !
Can't wait to have mine tomorrow ! early Xmas !
Continuous great product review demos focusing specifically on modules and show stages of effects names on screen. Great module by the way.
Such a great module! Very inspiring and seriously made! I just realized what I was missing from Magneto and I sold it. Looking forward on getting a Lubadh!!! I love your in depth overviews Jason and the fact you personally doing it. Cheers!
GREAT video, I'm learning so much.
Excellent video. Thanks for taking so much time to run over the possibilities. Now mine arrives tomorrow... :)
wow what a demo, and the guitar jam is incredible, I want asleep on it and was feeling like I was in clouds. I got the module for a week now and it's incredible how deep it is. fantastic job
Masterpiece. Period.
Thank you for this instructive video. I'm going through it with the module and I appreciate how you keep it simple while touching on every detail.
Thanks Kyle! ☺
you are truly brilliant.
On my sonic rocket now. Instinctive, beauty, high quality.
It's kind of sound manipulation tribute.
Love it! Thanks.
Take care Instruo!
Nosp
Perfect for the quarantine.
Outstanding module and video. This thing should be put in a capsule and sent out to distant galaxies. Teach ‘em how it’s done. We may hear overdubbing signals back, with lovely delay, tape saturation, warble and all.
Oh no - I'm still waiting vor my Arbhar. And now you make me want this one... I really dig that design too :)
Clock divider is fantastic feature. Possibility to build loops incrementally from deck to deck is what I love. Eurorack Looper I was waiting for :)
Yess! Thank you! 🙏
Very fun module. I'm still learning how to use it and a playlist would help to browse the long video for bits and pieces. I'm not sure how it's done but I'll try...

Oh, the guitar is a nice treat. That's pretty exciting actually, I've always been obsessed with guitar delay pedals. Nice to see your approach to mixing them. Would love to see the approach with two pedals if you ever feel like making a video of it.
Ohh, I rewatched and realized the second pedal would have been going into erase and not the right, so all a single recorder approach. I'll have to imagine a two deck approach. But the single deck sounds great.
those black gold panels look dope.
looks like we are getting into the backbone of tape and pitch delaying wow
Can I please get more info on how you got a footpedal to trigger the rec function? I love this module btw!
I'd love to completely control it generatively, using Max 8. I now need one ⚡
V.interesting indeed!
Is it possible to precisely change the speed to intervals other than octaves? You say the speed cv is added to the knob value: can that be used to transpose the speed (and therefore the pitch) by rational amounts like 1.5x speed or 1.25x speed?
yes I control the cv via cc and I think theres 4 steps in "velocity" in between original and half time or double time. Each step in between being pitched and sped up/slowed down by rational amounts as you put it.
might be the best instrument demo I've ever seen. and a great instrument, indeed. wish it existed in non-euro format too, with some added modulation and sequencing capabilities and separate FX section, sort of two-tape-deck Octatrack. could be a hit.
Quick question: is an auxiliary module needed to raise a line level instrument to modular level or can the it handle that itself? Cheers
Whats next to the Cèis? Personal octave switch? Thanks for the video! Learning a lot! Love it so much already.
Santino that is the Tàin :) it’s still preproduction but moving forward! It’s two SPDT switches. CV controllable with momentary and latching modes. The revision has a built in reference voltage for use as I demonstrate it in the video. Super handy module!
During the One-Shot Play/Rec segment, there's audible clicks at the end of the triggered B deck. Is there a way to apply a short fade to reduce these artifacts?
Nice looking Cables! Who makes them?
Beautiful all around, especially your guitar work at the end. Probably not the question you’re expecting, but how were you accomplishing the octave shifts from the Cs-L?
The interval jumps are a 1V offset I'm switching off and on. This is patched to the 1V/octave in of the Cš-L. I am using a prototype module called the Tàin. It's a dual analog switch that is CV controllable. Momentary or latching. The production version will have internal reference voltages for use as manual gates/latching DC offsets.
Super useful little module!
@@instruo Well it certainly got my attention! Thanks. I'll keep an eye out for it.
Just realized that the pattern you've recorded kinda sounds similarish to that video of mr Muller playing with tape up on vimeo. I guess that was unconsciously? :) I'm gonna get one of these, too much of a 60's fan not to have one.
Since you created/modified the loop pedal that sends a gate to 'rec', can you recommend any accessible pedals that do the same? Will you ever make a pedal that sends CV gate? Thanks for the video!
I designed the Larachd module (which comes with a dual pedal) precisely for this reason :)

love those patch cables. Where can one get them?
I have more stock due to go out to distribution soon :)

What camera are you using? It looks lovely
Murray Turner It is the LUMIX DC-FZ82 :)
Any special foot controller that is working as a switch here. It would seem useful to be able to stop start recordings that way
Take a look at Flexibilité or Pointeuse from Ritual Electronics:
www.modulargrid.net/e/ritual-electronics-flexibilite
www.modulargrid.net/e/ritual-electronics-pointeuse
I think any simple foot controller should work well with them.
@@oleh.s9330 Man, this is really interesting!
At 7:16 it looks like you use the Start knob to change the clock pulse position - but wouldn’t this also change the start point? Would you mind explaining what’s happening here? Cheers!
This confused me too but what I think is happening is this: The start point DID change but the duration was still set to full so we were hearing the entire loop ... to make a visual analogy, a circle will still be a circle no matter where you start drawing it. When he changed the length so only part of the loop was playing, then moving the start point made an audible difference.
I wonder how to update the firmware. There is no instruction in the manual nor website. Thanks!
Full in-depth instructions and firmware versions can be downloaded on the support page :)
www.instruomodular.com/support/
Does the speed CV in respond to v/o or is it not feasible to consistently hit a multiple/division of the speed via CV?
This is a feature that is coming in the V2 firmware which is on the horizon :)
It's a surprisingly tricky detail to implement as the speed goes through-zero.
Operating ranges had to be defined as linear to exponential mapping would never reach the bottom even with infinite negative voltage!
I believe we've found a very nice solution though!
@@instruo Wonderful! Thank you :)
what does the shiekah module do lol?
i was instantly curious when i saw it too
A bit late, but its a custom panel for their random voltage source
Love this module but mine is full of issues, noise, freezing, buttonclicks audible in the audio path. Trying to get it resolved with instruo right now. Otherwise it's gunna go.
Hi Nick,
Apologies for any delays you've experienced.
Your support ticket was somehow split into multiple threads and we've had to piecing together the whole chain to figure out where we're at. Communication can be a little scattered as several of us are working remotely due to COVID as well as being in different timezones.
It's Saturday, and I don't force my crew to do weekends ;) so you'll hear back on Monday with the next step.
We'll get you sorted as soon as we can.
Have a good weekend!
@@instruo Hey you recognised me. That's good. (I think).
We all need our days off.
I'm heading down to Nightlife Electronics here in Vancouver today to put the module on the bench and try and a/b it to another one he has.
We'll see how that goes.
Really want to keep this thing as it is a great concept and has a killer sound (when it's not hissing at me).
cheers
@@Nick-kb6jd Small world huh? :P
I/we are only a small team and all juggling many things, especially during these abnormal times.
If it's faulty, we'll figure out a solution.
Your patience is appreciated on the matter.
We'll get you sorted as soon as we can.
Have a good weekend!
@@instruo Glad I got your attention. Thanks.
@@instruo Hey thanks lots for sorting out the replacement for me. Fingers crossed this one is better. I'm confident it will be.
Chapter timestamps please
What's the module on the bottom left? "Ire"?
Something in the works ;)
@@instruo Am I the only one that noticed that, months later? ha!
Hi Instruo! When will firmware 2 be out for this module?
Soon :)
This week I’m shooting the new overview video!
Any word on the possible new firmware? Curious to see what’s all coming with that!
The new overview video run time is 2:25:12 😬
There is a lot in this update!!
@@instruo excited to see it! When will the firmware be released?
@@JxhnNichxlls same time as the videos 😉
@@instruo Looking real forward to it! :)
How much for the Sheikah Slate module? :)
Not for sale …in that form at least :)
@@instruo where can I get one? I would love to have one in my rig. It will go perfectly next to my Lubadh :D
The bloop sound is so extremely boring I’ve tried watching this video like 10 times and could ever get half way though I do love the lubadh though
Something I've fallen into myself, as an engineer you think, 'let me show the audience a very simple sound so that it doesn't distract from what the device itself is doing and the concept will be clear', but inevitably someone says 'hey, that sound sucks!'. But in the modular world, these are small companies, they don't have whole marketing arms making snazzy videos where you can't tell how many hours of work it would take to actually get something that good sounding out of the device. I think it's partly up to us to appreciate the work that someone put in to make the device and explain it, and then do the work ourselves to make inspirational artwork and videos with it. But, like all other homosapiens clicking away on youtube, I hear where you're coming from. I've just split the video over multiple weeks of listening and coming back to it and trying different things out.
When you design an instrument, you know all these nooks and crannies of it that you haven't yet had time to explore properly, and may never explore them as well as someone else does. You just know they're valuable and you want people to be aware of them.
Why do you do this to my wallet, insttuo man? Why do you insist on making perfect products?
Could there have possibly been a more unflattering boring sound to showcase the first hour+ of the demo? I love Instruo but this demo is painfully boring and annoying.
I’m very sorry the video pained you :(
Please consider that the purpose of the video was to simply demonstrate the mechanics and features of the Lubadh. I did not intend it as a musical masterpiece.
It is simply an expanded resource I provide in addition to the full written manual which can be found here:
www.instruomodular.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Lubadh-Manual-web.pdf
In reality, this video need not be watched at all! But I do appreciate you persevering through the experience :D
Was a bit buzzed when I wrote that. I already have the Lubadh. Love it. I was watching videos to get some ideas. It wasn’t very enjoyable to listen to but yeah I get that wasn’t the point of the video.
Hard to watch and process exactly what's going on here. I fell asleep on this video like 3 times. The clickety blippety sound being used for 1.5 hrs doesn't showcase the unit's true potential enough to convince my wallet. Do another video using pianos or human voices - maybe even a breakbeat. Better even, send DivKid a unit to review. I'm saying all this because I am trying to decide between this and a Make Noise Mimeophon. What I'm really trying to say is that a lackadaisical product review can lose a sale... especially to eurorack folks that are hungry to see what every little knob, switch, and patch port can do with all types of signals. I hate leaving a tutorial having more questions than takeaways.
totally agree and felt same, despite enjoying jason and instruo generally a lot. It just didn't make much impact imho. Have other sampler/loopers and was gonna get this but might just get another morphagene tbh.
I understand where you're coming from but this is the first lubadh demo where I could clearly hear & figure out what hte Lubadh was doing. The really basic sound really shows what the Lubadh is doing, no guessing what's Lubadh vs the other module people are using.
