I'm giving it a chance, from between now until WrestleMania. It's been up and down so far, but too early to decide.
Yeah. If people dislike the gimmick that’s okay.
The thing is Cornette has a lot of new listeners who are not used to Corny's takes on modern wrestling. They just want him to trash on AEW, but don't expect Jim to dislike WWE, when in reality Cornette has been always very balanced in the fact that he mostly hates ALL modern wrestling, including WWE (and the indies). The new ones just expected him to mock AEW for TK's antics and not WWE, so they're surprised.
AEW haters watch it for entertainment, and some watch to see the flaws of AEW and what Jim has to say bout AEW. Jim Cornette have always been critical of WWE as well, he is outspoken why he doesn't like to watch NXT. Jim Cornette likes the current direction of WWE, because it doesn't have major flaws like it used to, hence we don't see him criticising much. When it comes to AEW it has major flaws from top to bottom, Cornette was the same guy who sayed Dynamite was the best show a year back when Tony was doing things right.
And I agree with Jim on Wyatt 6, year back when Wyatt returned I didn't agree with Jim but latter on Jim was proven right again when Wyatt booking turned to be spooky and directionless in the end.

Jim Cornette, Vince Russo, Konan, Kevin Nash, Disco Inferno, and Eric Bischoff is the only balanced CZcamsrs when it comes to calling out Pro wrestling
Everyone else either constantly rips AEW or defends everything AEW does

I definitely disagree with Jim Cornette on this one but I appreciate that he's being honest and isn't just blindly praising the segment because Bray Wyatt passed away.
Jim does a very solid job of explaining his position I think. I disagree with some things, but I will say, they’re accelerating things very quickly with this stable. The comments about the backstage crew and production just being magically safe the next week is one of those things, a thing that a casual viewer might see and be like, “ wait but how did they do X?” The video packages with Howdy are great on the other hand!

Suspension of disbelief is the bedrock of professional wrestling. I can't suspend disbelief enough for mass murder & people possibly wrestling in costume, which if they don't then they're just Rowan, Lumis, etc.; so that serves as nothing more than a wider disconnect. I think it was a What-a-Burger, but they still should have used the drive thru.
Exactly that's what killed my excitement of the group I could care less about the Wyatt Sicks now
I feel like he’s going to enjoy the VHS segments
For me the wyatt 6 kinda strange they keep having vhs tapes and a random player at the ready to play the tapes each week
One thing that I don't get/like about the Wyatt Sicks stuff so far is how the guards just keep passing out on the commentator's table every time they show up. Like, can't we at least see one of the Wyatt's beat them down or something 'cause it's bordering on comedy how only guards get knocked out by the mist and nobody else

What people have to understand is, Jim was an adult when wrestling became popular. He will never understand what its like to be a kid and seeing the Undertaker and Kanes supernatural powers and thinking they are those characters. Which explains why he was never on board with that stuff. Its much easier for us to suspend belief with the Wyatts, because we know what it was like to be a kid and see that stuff.

I agree with Jim on this 100%. It takes away from the rest of the show. Its too fake and boring for my liking but not all of wrestling is for every wrestling fan. This is a perfect example.

The thing is, they never said it wasnt entertaining. They just said it shouldnt be on a wrestling show. The argument of "well, i was entertained" means nothing, really. Hell, Jim always praised Bray for his promos and being able to get people invested, he just hated the phony supernatural stuff. And its the same here.
I love the Howdy saga, and I disagree with Jim. But I also love that Jim is being real and staying true to it it's gold 😂

I think it depends on how they take it.
so far, to me, the wyatt sicks are meant to be more mentally ill rather than spooky, more along the lines of mankind when he first joined wwe, with the boiler room interview.
they use the spooky/horror stuff to creep you out and get in your head, mind games, i might be proved wrong but that is how i see it going.
And Jim wouldn’t have liked that at the time either. Man is consistent.

One thing I learned a long time ago is that I'm not always going to agree with Cornette, but I'm still most likely going to be entertained by the way he states his opinion. Only time he really bothers me is when he starts going off on religion or politics. I don't really care for either of those topics in a wrestling podcast.

The Wyatt stuff can work if they're mostly dominant due to simply being a good term like the Bloodline and don't abuse the supernatural too much.

Personally I'm not a fan of a group with superpowers in modern wrestling because of the history we had with the last 2 attempts, it worked with undertaker because he can actually wrestle since the day he started working with bret hart and he wins by wrestling great matches while the find was kicking out at 1 and basically imminent to everything and now we got 6 of them unbeatable guys that sell nothing and when you put them against an LA knight, cody or seth you don't know what to do with these people and it literally happened at hell in a cell 2019 people need to be reasonable than fall in line with the cool stuff yes it looks cool but it doesn't get you far

Also, you say this as if all of his fans, even his most hardcore, don’t already know that politics are a major blind spot for him. Virtually everyone starts hitting the skip ahead button when he starts talking politics.
Anyone that thought he’d like it clearly haven’t listened to him for very long. I usually skip those ones that I know he’ll hate that I like. Or 95% of his videos about womens wrestling. It’s his opinion and part of the character/draw is that he’s outspoken and unwavering in his opinions.
That all being said, the “unbelievability” of it is either going to bother you or not. But if it really does, then you should probably be really concerned about how the Rock didn’t get in any trouble for his beat down of Cody Rhodes. Or any of the numerous assaults that happen backstage. Some of this stuff is just not for certain members of the audience.
The Rock not getting in trouble for whooping Cody is much more believable given how powerful he is not only within WWE but Hollywood at large than anything involving this angle so far. It’s still slightly far fetched in a sense, but I can suspend my disbelief enough for it. For this and pretty much all Wyatt related stuff, I absolutely can’t. Bad comparison.
The narrative I'm sick of the most is the "we'll see how it translates to the ring" talk, as if we haven't already seen that Bo, Rowan, Gacy, Lumis, and Nikki can all go in the ring. Plus any of them could put on a classic, and some of these "fans" would still find something to complain about.
They’re all mid at best. Don’t get me wrong, in ring action is obviously NOT the priority with this group, nor should it be. In WWE, character and promos are king. But don’t lie and say they can “go” in the ring. They’re nothing special whatsoever. I’m willing to have my mind potentially changed on Bo, I’ve never seen him with a serious character. But I’ve seen more than enough of the rest.

I knew Jim would absolutely hate it, but he went way beyond logic I feel like. I agree that it shouldn't be too supernatural with the Wyatts no selling all the time and so on, but he's acting like it'll sink WWE and the audience will leave which is the exact opposite of what's happening

I lean towards more of Jim's take. I'm good with having the characters in the ring fighting and the promo was pretty cool on the VHS to give context as to why. I am not impressed with the fake ass fog machine and the creepy lighting. Plus killing Gable and then he just shows up like nothing happened the next week is fake. It reminds me too much of that WCW faction with Kevin Sullivan and the Zodiac Man just with a bigger budget. They need to start showing up in the ring and taking care of business in the ring its starting to get old already.
Cornette is old school tbh it can be pretty stupid I wasn’t a big fan of the fiend but Bray Wyatt original character was cool

I don't like the Uncle Howdy stuff cause people are gonna end up turning on it soon. If Bray god rest his soul. Couldn't get this character and people ended up tuning on Bray cause of Uncle Howdy. When Bray passed away he was playing the Uncle Howdy character. People only fake like this character cause people are fond of Bray Wyatt. But I also understand that there were characters like Undertaker and Kane. Who were similar to Uncle Howdy. But Jim's opinions can be very well controversial. In an interview some while back you had Undertaker say that characters like his don't work now a days. Gotta admit it but Taker saying this means alot to the future of the Uncle Howdy stuff. But I am willing to give it a chance. Is it gonna work I don't see it lasting that long. People are gonna turn on Bo Dallas just like they did Bray.

I get nothing out of the Wyatt stuff. Never did even when Bray was doing the Fiend. Closest it ever got to being digestible was with the actual Wyatt family with sheep masks.
The FireFly Funhouse was good. It was entertaining and more believable. The teleporting though and , the Fiend could of been, but again they went over the top and had Randy set him on fire.

@@czbrat That match was bad, I know, that and for Bray, the match at Wrestlemania against Randy Orton, with the bugs projected on the ring. But, I really got into the darker Fiend character and then yeah they went that way with the matches. I was really actually kind of looking forward to that match with Orton. It was a great build, but the supernatural stuff ruined it.
