I had a bad case of art block that lasted for two years.....what brought me back to art was drawing diavolo from jjba in a huge mixed media sketchbook....
Artblock is stressful. Like you get all your art stuff out then boom no motivation! Anybody who is struggling from artblock don't push yourself take time! You got this!
Am not a pro so obviously take this with a pinch of salt but I think there is a deeper problem with art block then not feeling like drawing. Personally I think if your struggling with art block you likely don’t have a balanced art diet. What I mean by that is you need to make sure your not just churning out work and your also taking the time to find influences, jotting down ideas, analysing your work, tutorials, talking to other artist about your/their art ect. It’s no good only taking action when you get in a rut. Personally the biggest problem is that people don’t give themselves enough time to be bored. Boredom feeds creatively since your imagination is trying to occupy its itself when your bored. So the one tip I would give is to stop listening to podcasts on route to work and take a pocket notebook and write down keywords and any ideas you can come up with because then if your not feeling motivated you will have ideas to kick your brain into gear.
Thanks for your comment, that’s actually super helpful and so true. I think allowing you to get bored and procrastinate is crucial. As I said in the video, I’m deeply convinced that creative people will always feel the urge to create something. So if you get away from it for some time and just relax, you’ll get back into it.
Yup I had one art block that lasted over a year due to feeling like I just was t good enough. Telling myself that nobody ever buy or look at my work even though I have a full degree in fine arts Turns out my work is valuable and valid and I found my own self worth.
Good point, honestly I think social media plays a big part in this as well. It’s kinda sad that we value our selves so much on how many appreciation we get from others 😮 on the other hand, it’s really hard not to these days
I hit a massive wall of art block last year. I doodled when I really felt like it, but for the most part didn’t do much at all. You’re totally right about being away making you want to come back even harder! The new year started, and I made one of my resolutions to draw something to post on Instagram at least once a week, and so far I’ve done even more than I set out to do! :D
I know this doesn’t have anything to do with art block. But at 2:50 you show a bit of how you film your videos. How do you avoid getting back pain from drawing on a flat surface. I have to have my desk tilted or else I get horrible back pain. I’ve been trying to find a way to get a good angle and make my drawings look like it’s on a flat surface, but I can do that without my head being in the way constantly.
Oh, that’s bad and I know how it feels. So I don’t draw that much anymore, it’s just a day or two peer week for long hours. For the most part though, it’s the chair. It’s pretty expensive but amazing, the part where you sit on, moves with your spine the whole time. So yeah, I can only recommend to get a good chair and take breaks.

That’s crazy long but I’m super happy that you’re back at drawing. Seems like you did the good old ‘connect your art with other interests’ trick 😁
@@modauth yeah it sucked big time
Omgg. Relatable.

@@modauth that’s a very cool sounding chair. Thank you for the response I’ve always wondered how people avoid back pain. I’ve learned a lot. 😁
How to solve my artblock
1. Scribles
2. Read Some manga
3. Listen to musics
I can't enjoy musics if i don't draw Something
These are some awesome tips 🙂 I should definitely try the music one. Usually watching CZcams or listening to Podcast on the side
Jazza is the pewdiepie of art
