  • I have had a very annoying rattling sound while driving at any speeds below 40mph since I purchased our 2017 Lexus LX570. I also had noticed that the starfish shaped center caps on the wheels were loose, all 4 of them were loose. BUT What I didn't realize is that the noise while driving was from the loose center caps. I tried to repair them and they are still loose. I can probably wrap some tape around them to make them fit tighter, but I did not want to do that.
I then found that the overseas (non-USA) LX570's from 2016-2022 had the option to go with a smaller solid center cap for the wheels. I got 4 of them ordered, installed them in this video, and now there's no more rattle while driving. And they look cleaner too in my opinion.

Thank you your very informational videos. These are the same center caps that are on a wheel option on the 2021 LX models. The wheel is different but the same caps.

Absolutely. Glad you find them helpful. And thank you for the support! Good to know on the 2021. I didn’t know that. Learn something new everyday 😁

You got it! I'm loving the rattle free driving on ours. The rattling of the starfish caps drove me crazy. And the more sporty look of the smaller center caps is actually growing on me. Let me know how you like them once you get yours on.

That’s awesome! Still loving them on my LX. Now that they’ve been on for a while I prefer the look of these over the old ones.

I am reminded of being a kid in the 70's taking a snap together toy apart and putting it back together again too many times. The grief, annoyance and disappointment 🤣

Oh man, I had so many of those, and I grew up in the 80's and early 90's. So many broken tabs and loose parts. I was always the kid trying to take apart broken electronics around the house to see how they work.

My 21 with the sports package came with those center caps and exposed lugs

How do you like those versus the starfish style? I think the smaller center caps are growing on me, they look really clean.

Pretty lame that after all the decades of making vehciles Toyota cant get this right. I'd expect Lexus to replace these at their cost.
    You made the right choice.

I totally agree. Disappointing that this is a Lexus/Toyota part which fails on almost every single 2016-2022 LX570.

Rattling can be fixed by bringing it in to the dealer lol. Idk what they did but they tighten mine

I think most of the dealer fixes I have seen for these has been wrapping the clips with electrical tape to make them fit tighter. I guess that works, but for me I preferred this fix.
