Willemijn Forte I think it was too painful- the lyric has this beautiful double meaning that gives it twice the punch. On one hand, he could be talking about his own parents, one who died of cancer before he could ever make something of himself, or himself and Adrienne, since he probably missed huge chunks of his own children's lives on tour and may still be today. He knows his mother misses his father and that his wife misses him- and it pained him to sing those words because he realizes it.
Yeah so true! Gosh the song juat has so much meaning to it. Not only for Billie, but I think for a lot of other people also. It's just very relatable. The song is about the band waiting for Billie's recovery too right? After the incident at iheartradio festival when he went to recover. I will cry for sure during this song when I see them in Amsterdam!
