    Good review. Maybe a bit short because this can be a intimidating scanner as for the novices. But, the best method for getting to know the ins and outs of this product is to be thrown into the deep first and learn about the basics which you explained quite clearly. Oh, maybe a bit of a advice about the antenna. This short rubber antenna is only for real strong stations or nearby signals. A separate telescopic whip that can be adjusted as for the received frequency does do the radio much more justice as it will bring in many more signals. At least, this is my experience. Regards, Willem.

    Hi mate, I currently have the Uniden Bearcat 75XLT version. How different is the XLT125 in comparison and is it worth the upgrade? I only really use Air and Marine but have never tried Military. Not really sure that I will but live and let live ... Also I only have a basic Windows laptop or an Ipad so was also wondering about the downloads etc. Please let me know, Laurie

    • @driverfilmsshortwavechannel
      @driverfilmsshortwavechannel  Před 7 lety +1

      The 75XLT doesn't cover UK military band and has more gaps between the frequency bands. The 125XLT does. As to upgrading.. I depends where you are located, if there are no Military airbases or flight routes close to you then you wont pick anything up.
      Regarding programming Ive made a simple video on how to do this. I programmed it manually and using ARC125.

      Ditch the rubber duck antenna and get a Nagoya Na-771 whip, it depends on how far away you are from the transmission source and what you want to listen to. If you live within 30 Miles of a Major airport you can pick up Departure/Arrival control and within 10 miles you can pick up the Tower.

      The Nagaya NA-771 antennas get good reviews, I use a Diamond RH770 whip antenna with mine, but it makes the scanner top heavy. The scanner can detect ctcss and dcs tones using the close call feature.
      If you live in the UK you cannot pick up the Police frequencies anymore.

It extends also to a maximum of 119cm height. I live in Greece,as far as i know here they dont use the TETRA system anymore,i dont know if they use digital or not. But as far as i know,police here operates at VHF and UHF,and some utilities at 800Mhz.

      HI ufm10 xxl, using Scan125 Control Program software version 2.7.0.0. (free) allows you so record audio from the scanner. You will need to connect the USB lead to the PC and also an audio cable from the headphone socket to the mic input on the PC.
      You can set the software to record sound only whilst the squelch is open, it will also list the date, time, channel number and any names you have stored in the radio against the audio.

      Close call feature will only work when there is a strong signal close to the frequency, it also depends on the antenna being used. The one that it comes with is not brilliant, but an upgrade will bring better results. Regarding the band numbers, they do flash when they are being scanned.

    Shame it takes such a long , long time to charge up 12 hrs Maybe using DURACELL ULTRA or ULTIMA batteries might be a far better idea to use on holiday or if you can be bothered waiting this boring length of time fine charge it up from about 6 pm night before till after breakfast (9 am) next day. But, length of running time on batteries average is not known. But, be great to know a estimate running time or someone to a running test one on the original rechargeable & another on the DURACELLS & let us all know which is best. ( i say personally Duracells ) but, that's just my own personal opinion. I am sure someone can do these two test. As i really think this is my next added radio kit but, i need to be more certain.
