If you are playing on a TV make sure that Game mode is on. It really makes a difference. If doesn't change then there's a problem with your internet or EA servers are trash.
How come everytime I do a well placed tackle with B/circle they always seem to be keeping the ball. It like bounces off there legs and they keep possession it's screwed me over so many times. I have players with good strength aswell so I don't think its that.

I rage quitted the other day, exasperated at how the team just stand idle while the one I was controlling could either not tackle, or if they did tackle, it went straight back to the opponent. Lost the game 5-0. I watched this video, and followed the advice, and replayed the game, lost it 2-1 but with a much closer battle and defenders much more in control. And much more realistic! Great video and thanks for the tips!
i'm so glad they went back to total manually defending. The last part of Fifa 19 with AI defending was so ridiculous and made way too OP saves which was bullshit because most people just controlled midfielders and letting AI do all the defending! so i'm happy and great to see you being back early on in the game with tutorials and stuff!

I don't recommend taking out the keeper for corners anymore. I've conceded a goal straight from a corner kick in Rivals this way. Near post defender didn't move a muscle. My opponent tried it several times and put it on target every time (my keeper saved the others). Somehow it seems really easy to put the ball on target from corners this year...

The jockey button is good, I use it against my brother-in-law and use the same butting to dribble when in possession.. I went from losing 4-1 now winning against my brother-in-law 6-3.. Hi, great videos that are very helpful! I`ve seen them all, and are practising the different sequences of the gameplay. I`ve never defended manually and have often used X to press, and not used L2 og R2 to hold back. Therefore, I`ve often exposed myself to much and an easy way for the opponent to create chances. In attack, I mostly have relied myself on speed and crosses in earlier Fifa versions, which are not working in this Fifa at all.. In this Fifa, I`ve been losing to mates I used to beat without problems, and especially those who uses X to press me all the time. They intercept me again and again, and it it so frustrating. So obviously, I have to adapt my game. Keep up the good work! Greetings for Norway.
Defending is ruining the game for me because I can dominate the game and still lose because the opponent score on almost every chance because I can't defend. I struggle to focuse on everything on the pitch. I feel almost every player I face can defend really well. When I'm in attack every player of mine are marked which ends up with me passing the ball back to try and rebuild the attack. :(

I lost 7 out of 13 Games yesterday, with 4 draws and 3 wins. It just seemed so easy for my opponents to get through my defence. I definitely learned some things from this video. Hopefully it will help me. Now I just have to learn to become less predictable in attack.
I used to ONLY use the Contain button, but it’s impossible to do in FIFA 20 and now Jockey L2 is essential. But not enough. The key is L2 AND R2 together. Perfect. Thanks Legend 😎
Played every fifa since 97 and im now nearly 25, this fifa wow, i have no problem attacking, i can be like 3 nil up in the first half but then all of a sudden my defence just flaps it and let's everyone through! BRING BACK FIFA 14-15 DEFENCE TECHNIQUES!!
For some reason I was alright at defending last week then I suddenly just got worse I can't defend for shit now. I'm consistently a Gold 3 and 2 player but I can't even get past silver 2.
There's using a contain button, then there's AI tracking off-ball players until the back line looks like a lightning bolt, or leaving 10 yards of space when the opposing player is at the top of the box. It should never be THIS difficult to have a basic AI defensive setup.
Thanks man your tutorials are lit it helped me a lot . i just realized a lot of complains here basically apart from the fact that the defending is slightly difficult most of y'all should be focusing on the devices you playing on if its a console check out for input lag (this can make you cry u will never win a match ). If its a Pc checkout for lags and stuttering. Also check if your machine meets the required minimum recommendation if not Upgrade!
To be honest I am having games tougher than ever in FIFA.. My first 5 games the score line was 1-1 2-1 1-1 2-1 4-3 it's more competitive much more realistic and harder.. No more ping pong passing at least.. Or over powered finesse shots frm anywhere...
There still is ping pong passing, its so easy to pass. Only thing thats hard is defending and wingplay and one-two's are very OP works everytime for me.

If you have to manually defend and only able to use 1 player at a time while the rest of the defenders are jacking off and not man marking unless until I control them, that'd make for a shitty unorganised defensive unit. Meanwhile, the AI is able to use 4-5 players at a time to defend, all of them man marking and closing passing spaces. I say bring back man-marking tactics. It worked wonders for me in the pre-2010 Fifa games.

It’s because your pressing L1/LB which switches to the closest player try using R3/RS and point it to the player you want to switch to
It always switches to the wrong player when the opposition are in a good position, so there’s basically no way you can defend their attack

I find myself passing the ball to my opponent (by pressing x on ps) when defending a cross way to often. How to avoid that? Anyone?

What I hate is that there's always 1 defender than follows runs playing the other teams full attack onside. And there's no way to prevent it
Use right stick to switch to the person making forward or inside runs he's far more dangerous than some one static
It is almost impossible to defend without the X or the contain button...I tried, I couldnt defend and I gave up..
I used to ONLY use the Contain button, but it’s impossible to do in FIFA 20 and now Jockey L2 is essential. But not enough. The key is L2 AND R2 together. Perfect. Thanks Legend 😎

Played every fifa since 97 and im now nearly 25, this fifa wow, i have no problem attacking, i can be like 3 nil up in the first half but then all of a sudden my defence just flaps it and let's everyone through! BRING BACK FIFA 14-15 DEFENCE TECHNIQUES!!

It's really disappointing me a lot. I got a 1 win - 7 losses in FUT so far just because I don't know how to defend.
For some reason I was alright at defending last week then I suddenly just got worse I can't defend for shit now. I'm consistently a Gold 3 and 2 player but I can't even get past silver 2.

There's using a contain button, then there's AI tracking off-ball players until the back line looks like a lightning bolt, or leaving 10 yards of space when the opposing player is at the top of the box. It should never be THIS difficult to have a basic AI defensive setup.

Thanks man your tutorials are lit it helped me a lot . i just realized a lot of complains here basically apart from the fact that the defending is slightly difficult most of y'all should be focusing on the devices you playing on if its a console check out for input lag (this can make you cry u will never win a match ). If its a Pc checkout for lags and stuttering. Also check if your machine meets the required minimum recommendation if not Upgrade!
To be honest I am having games tougher than ever in FIFA.. My first 5 games the score line was 1-1 2-1 1-1 2-1 4-3 it's more competitive much more realistic and harder.. No more ping pong passing at least.. Or over powered finesse shots frm anywhere...
There still is ping pong passing, its so easy to pass.
Only thing thats hard is defending and wingplay and one-two's are very OP works everytime for me.
What’s the point when this game has lag spikes that take out 3 or 4 players, before you know it your opponent is 1on1 with the keeper...

@@vhshshshsjskakal Things is, defending is a group work. That's why they call it a defensive UNIT. If you have to manually defend and only able to use 1 player at a time while the rest of the defenders are jacking off and not man marking unless until I control them, that'd make for a shitty unorganised defensive unit.
Meanwhile, the AI is able to use 4-5 players at a time to defend, all of them man marking and closing passing spaces.
I say bring back man-marking tactics. It worked wonders for me in the pre-2010 Fifa games.
