Don't worry. I'll add some layers. So as everyone knows, Jared is incredibly insecure. He doesn't have any real friends and he makes jokes to cover up what he really thinks and feels because he fears that if he reveals his true stuff his life will become a never ending nightmare as everyone will laugh at him. He could sympathize with Evan's fears but then everyone would laugh at him for being friends with THAT loser. Instead he can just tease him and he can say to his aquaintences that he only hangs out with that loser so his parents will pay for his car insurance. He also has more power over Evan because as he usually acts like a jokster, lackey, ect. for others people's amusement always worried they'll stop hanging out with him so never REALLY talking just hiding between quirky things like video games and THAT loser. With Evan however, who needs him so he's not completely alone he is more free. Making Evan more afraid helps him hide even more behind the aloof cool guy he wants to be.
AlwaysGonnaSing I mean there's already two songs about the Connor project does it really need another? Besides I think it's more negative, maybe it could have been something in the second act before 'good for you' to explain in the soundtrack why everyone was mad at Evan
I honestly wished that this song made it into the musical because I really like this song but I understand why they decided to go with the thirty-second dialogue
I feel like they could have kept it but cut it down to like 2 minutes and made it short (kinda like the Sincerely Me reprise) because I do think Jared makes some good points especially in the very beginning..... Also, I feel like it would have worked because yes it feels different but Jared also gives off a very different vibe than the other characters

Even though Jared has some funny parts in the songs there isnt a whole song. The musical is still suppose to be sad and this song will just make it play off as a joke.
I think that DEH needed one more poppy song, to kind of help the audience get through the tears. I mean, I'm not saying the musical isn't utterly amazing as it is, but I feel like this song should have been in the musical, and it also gives us some more character development for Jared. I don't know, that's just my opinion.

Will Roland always wears a button up shirt unbuttoned over a graphicnt-shirt. His character, Jared, has the same style though he had it first so it was based off him. Often in these videos where he sings stuff, he is in that style or at least just wears a button up shirt buttoned but in this video he is wearing a suit jacket over the button up which makes him look more like a 28 year old singing a song then a Jared.
Callum Wallace I feel like if they changed the song a bit, then it could have fit. I really wish there would be another Jared solo or an Alana solo. We don't get to hear them sing too much, which is unfortunate.
It matches the tone of the dialogue in the show more than it does the tone of the songs in the show, which could also explain why it was removed. This more raunchy song would definitely stick out from the rest of the album released for the show, which for the most part is family friendly. I always forget though how much language was actually in the show outside of the songs, especially from Jared and Conner. I’d say if you plan on taking your kids to this show, you might want to check out this song first to make sure you’re comfortable with them seeing it because from what I remember this was how the dialogue was for at least a good portion of it.
