It’s time for a top-of-the-range Audi showdown!
As we all know, the R8 is the top sports car that Audi produces. We may not have the latest R8 V10 Plus here with us today (we’ve got the previous generation), but thanks to it having a stage 1 tune, it’ll produce identical stats to the Plus - 600hp & 580Nm!
As for the RSQ8, it’s the top-of-the-range Audi SUV, and it'll produce 600hp and 800Nm of torque from its 4-litre twin-turbo V8! But given that it weighs over 600kg MORE than the R8, is the result a foregone conclusion? Or will Mat's experience in drag races prove to be the deciding factor?!

The RSQ8 is nice and just about keeps up. The R8 is an interesting vehicle bc being naturally aspirated w/a 7 spa gearbox sets it back against twin turbo 8 plus speed luxo vehicles. Love that V10 though.

That’s just because there are SQ8 is so heavy that got so much grip when it’s breaking so it can get nearly as good results as the r8

To be honest. These brake tests are pointless unless you get a drone overhead. We can’t tell who hits the brake first. It would also help to determine the winner. You have this problem often.
they should do them separately and pick a mph to start the breaking and measure really that would be the most accurate
The wind would probably take the drone with it in those conditions.

They brake at the same line, not necessarily the same time. If it's so close that you can't tell then obviously the difference is so negligible to not really matter.

here’s a tip : try to use your “specialist timing gear” to determine the braking test winner..cuz some of the test ends up soo close to call a winner..btw nice video though

As a person who owns Audi’s, I have to say the 2020 RS cars have lost their performance edge against the competition. They are morphing into also rans on this channel.
Because there isn't a performance version of any new audi like on merc is the amg s and bmw is competition. The old rs6 had 560hp and the performance version had 605 HP the new rs6 have 600 HP so when they would bring the performance version on the new rs cars, they would surely compete very well.

A supercar is built to go around corners very fast, not do drag races. The R8 would probably lead by 10s a lap if not more on a circuit like Spa.
Considering the RSQ8 is a behemoth of an SUV, I say it wins the brake test.
The brakes on that car are insane~ They're huge, and for its size, it stops really well.

R8 finishes it in 10.8 sec while the Q8 in 12.2 sec which is a not so close

@@TheUnPlayable Lambos aren't overpriced audis. They are more expensive audis. However, since that V10 is derived from a lambo engine, the R8 isn't completely an Audi.
Just a thought, the RSQ8 went very fast in the first run and gets progressively slower due to heat soak (the intercooler is pretty small). I suspect if you run it again with both cars cold (not back to back runs) you would find that RSQ8 would duplicate run #1 or something similar. Back to back runs definitely favor the normally aspirated 5.2 V10.
Your right. These have rubbish air to air intercoolers. Same engine as on my rs7 c8 mine tuned to 770 bhp 1145 nm. But after two runs your down 60 bhp on power. Might put csf intercoolers on mine next

It’s actually pre facelift model bro.The new one is having a slightly revised bumper with more horses and rounded exhaust tipes. That v10 sounds little muffled due to PPF.
The new facelift actually does and it also has a stupid soft limiter. Makes virtually no sense buying the new R8

Not really. There was a drag race where he was in an R8 Performance and he raced a 911 Carrera 4S, Nissan GTR Nismo and a BMW M850i and he won
All cars have to slow down the same when braking more or less, if not the security distance between two following cars must be adjusted depending on the cars.
A drone with a downwards facing camera could be super useful in these videos for figuring out the brake test, or just for a cool shot. They're really not that expensive
