It’s all the damn adds now. Even adblockers are allowing commercials. It used to be that yes you sit thru the obligatory ad at the beginning, but now a 30 to 40 minute video is getting interrupted 4 or 5 times, and that is pissing all of us off.
and has anyone else been having the problem where videos start buffering constantly, no matter how strong your connection is then after a bit offer you the new higher bitrate youtube for a price?
What makes less sense is I've watched a number of videos that were between ten and twenty minutes long, with an ad before, maybe one in the middle and then one at the end. If I put on a long video, like forty minutes to an hour, suddenly I'm seeing a two-to-three minute unskippable as block every five minutes. What makes it even more infuriating is that they run a caption in the corner that notes "fewer ads in this long video". Fewer ads than what? A ten minute block every minute?
This is absolutely happening. Late January this year subscriber growth fell off a cliff, with the lowest impressions my 1.6 million sub channel received for over five years. I've just released a video showing the analytics. It's killing the channel.

CZcams is trying to kill itself. The amount of ads forces users to either not watch content, or find better ad blockers. I REFUSE to watch ads that have blatant porn, foreign audio, are every 2 minutes, or have 15 minute long videos embedded as 'ads'. Shorts are complete cancer that you cannot even steam them to TV. I keep getting recommended videos from the past that I have watched instead of new content. But for real, the average 10 minute video goes something like this: Pre-roll Ad. Channel intro for 1 minutes. Sponsor content for 2 minutes. Content actually starts. AD. It is nothing that you are or are not doing Tyler, it is just the giant corps trying to extract more value, with no regard to the consequences.
once again, Average UBlock Origin win, haven't seen any CZcams ads on my PC since they updated it to block the CZcams ad blocker blocker. However, my phone that isn't protected doesn't get many ads anyway not totally because I'm not recommended Monitized channels with videos over 10 min but also it seems because I'm also not sure if CZcams minimizes ads when on Data but I certainly get fewer to no ads when i'm on data.
My CZcams,has the extra ads like everyone else, but heyho, it’s not worth paying the money to go ads free. Also, before when I was on the homepage, I got lots of options/themes of channels that I watched a good bit off eg baking, ghosts, comedy etc. Now I have to ‘fight’ with my tablet to get those titles up and even then I’m only getting 5 or 6 options with VERY limited recommendations which mostly are nothing to do with my demographic or 80% of stuff I have already watched. They seem to be looking after themselves now rather than creators and users. I have to watch the ads until I can skip but I have yet to see an ad relevant to me xx
Interesting. I tried watching a video with no adblock and I have waited like 10-15 minutes and it still doesn't seem to count my view. I wonder if they don't count Firefox views anymore? 🤔 yeah that could totally be it. The percentage of views dropped is almost exactly the amount of people who don't use Chrome.
@@Highlander055 "this video" maybe but a lot of videos I've seen when I switch adblock off, have an ad that goes straight into an ad (sometimes skippable sometimes not). then regardless of adblocker, you get staright into a video sponsor. not to mention the ads in the middle of a video. This is way too many ads in one go lol
My feed is JAM PACKED with shorts. And I hate it - but I just keep scrolling and watching them, and the more I scroll the more I hate them.... Its a cycle thats killing me.
I don’t know if this will help but a trick that I have tried is watching every short I see full to completion and not skipping any of them. It sounds weird but if you sit and watch every single one you get bored a lot faster and ultimately you spend less time on shorts. Maybe give it a shot

You can remove shorts from showing up in your recommended by clicking the three dots and choosing the "not interested" option. Do this for all the shorts in the category, refresh and do it again. After a couple times shorts should stop showing up for you entirely.
I have noticed the algorithm has been very aggressive towards new channels/genres. If I view a video all of a sudden my entire feed is 90% that channel. But I also noticed I was suddenly unsubscribed from a ton of channels I normally watch.
Yeah my account was created 12 years ago so yt knows me very well and I recently too kept getting recommended videos with like 150 views and completely unrelated to what I'm watching

And if I click on something just out of curiosity and it turns out to be clickbait....crap! The "Do not recommend" thing doesn't even help then; I have to go delete history.
CZcams tried to fight against people using ad blockers. As a result, I suspect users with updated ad blockers and apps like Revanced stopped showing up as views on videos. I know my history in CZcams was messed up for a while, and may have been related, but it's fixed now, so when my history wasn't updating it's possible my views weren't being logged. I don't know for certain this was the cause, but it seems likely related.
It may be a coincidence, but CZcams has started recommending me more obscure videos, stuff made by people with half a dozen subscribers. I like this, as it makes the recommendations less monotonous, but if it's a general trend I can see it being concerning to someone with a large viewership.
I've noticed that as well. As a consumer I find myself being way more interested than before by the recommended videos. I think this change in algorithm is the very reason why I saw a video from this channel in my recommendations a couple of days ago. I had never heard about this channel before and now I've already watched a few videos and really got to like it. I just wish companies had to be more upfront about future marketing decisions with creators working on their platforms, since they are ultimately the reason these platforms exist at all.
YT has been cramming even more ads in videos, pushing shorts even more etc. i have personally watched less YT due to the amount of ads and longer ads being shown. Ad blocker works on PC, but on mobile or through TV the amount of ads they try to show is crazy. 30 second add at the start, 2 mins later they show another ad? if that happens i just close YT and watch something else with no ads or far less ads. I see shorts are now shown first before anything else on mobile , which just deters me from watching youtube.
The ads have been insane lately. I had about 10mins of ads on a 90second video. Every 5ish seconds a new round of ads would pop up and most of them I couldn't skip due to the skip button not being there or the skip button would have it's timer reset over again.
3 to 5 ads back-to-back and you can't skip, then another stream of 3 to 5 a few minutes later. YT is my favorite entertainment, but because of the ads, I find myself noping out of some of my favorite creator's videos if they don't get to the point quick enough. If they get to the point within the first few minutes, and I'm intrigued, I'll tolerate the ads. But yeah, I have to feel like the quality and/or the entertainment or educational value is going to be worth sitting through the stupid ad streams, and that really sucks.
I think CZcams is pushing smaller CZcamsrs more in the algorithm compared to big CZcamsrs. I’ve personally been seeing a BUNCH of smaller CZcamsrs when I go to my recommended tabs and far less popular CZcamsrs recently.
Which wouldn't be a bad thing if they actually made relevant content with some level of professionalism. All the ones I have had recommended use a camera from 2015 and make vlogs, something I have minimal interest in.
Honestly, I think its a combination of youtube fatigue and youtube tweaking the algorithm so badly that people just don't want to use it anymore. My recommendations are completely atrocious, even the search does not work anymore, I get like one page of results for a topic that should have tens of thousands of videos, and its basically impossible to find videos older than a few years. I find myself no longer using youtube nearly as much now, it feels bland. I also got recommended a Mr. beast video yesterday, me a 29 year old man... the whole thing was terrible, just a giant ad for his chocolate bar, I think I got brain rot from just clicking on it.
I believe there are 3 main factors 1. The feed page algorithm appears to be ineffective, inundating users with irrelevant or repetitive content instead of prioritizing videos from subscribed channels. This can lead to frustration and general disengagement among viewers. 2. Personally, I've noticed a significant issue with the pre-roll ads. I consistently encounter the same set of unskippable ads for months on end. This lack of variety can become tedious for viewers and might deter them from watching as many videos (in particular long videos). But it may be just me because I have personalized ads turned off. 3. CZcams's aggressive promotion of shorts could also be impacting viewer engagement. Short-form content tends to capture attention quickly, potentially diverting viewers away from longer videos. Considering also the fruition of shorts is much “faster” with ads that can be easily swiped away. I’m not suggesting that ads are the main culprit, but rather that they may not be managed as effectively as they could be. These combined factors may be contributing to the overall decline in CZcams views globally. However, it’s difficult to pinpoint them as the sole reason for the one-month drop. Despite these concerns, I hope CZcams doesn’t fail, but recent management decisions have been concerning, especially considering the platform’s established status and the challenges of transitioning to alternatives.
My feed is very stagnant and many times does not update with the latest content from people I subscribe to, including yours. CZcams has also been trying to crack down on ad blockers which may be partially responsible.
yup my recommended shows really old videos and my sub feed doesn't show all the videos of the people I want to watch. I know this as I go and check a channel of a youtuber ( I aint seen for a while for some reason) and realise I've missed a whole week of content from them.
Right now, first 8 videos on my feed are 3-8 years old. I am subbed to dozens of channels that posted new videos TODAY. I shouldn’t see videos on the home page that’s are almost a decade old before the new ones of things I’m subbed to.
I have noticed YT aggressively suggesting new smaller channels to check out over the past few weeks/months so I wonder if ppl are just more divided with their viewing.
I mean I guess it would make sense that yt would be diversifying their portfolio. So many big youtubers say they are leaving that if they don't find new youtubers their profits might tank.
I am so disappointed in humanity... We had successfully ditched traditional T.V. that cost us 80 bucks or more a month to have. In favor of streaming services to get away from ads and subscription fees to only go and pollute the one place we could go with no ads and fuck it all up. Back to square one and we complicated it by having 100 different fucking subscriptions and still have ads. Fuck
Tylertube Too NEVER shows up in my feed anymore. I just happened to be scrolling through my subs and found this video. I think YT is starting to recommend other random channels in order to gain views on random channels. I think YT is doing this to make more money. More channels with more views equals more money for the half-baked leaders of this platform...IMHO
As someone who’s regularly watched CZcams as a hobby for years, I now, as of around this year/end of last year, seemingly always have to have my phone either jailbroken, or sideload CZcams++ so I don’t have to deal with the ads. You get two pre rolls, get comfy watching your video, and 5 minutes later get smashed with 2 more ads, sometimes just one, but now usually unskippable, so I’ve just gotta get whatever free method I can avoid seeing what feels like just as many commercials as cable TV. If every CZcamsr is going to have a sponsor that takes up 10% of their video, why do I need to also watch 4+ ads on one video that’s only like 20-30 minutes? ☹️🤔
The algorithm is so bad now, it doesn’t recommend that good of videos, it’ll recommend I watch a video I just watched earlier. Not to mention the search is god awful too, the people I watch the most I feel never show up in my feed, and are never recommended. Sometimes I don’t even get notifications for people but they also never show up in the subscription tab either
From my personal subscriber list I've noticed that the content creators have been making less videos the last 1-2 months. Normally what keeps me coming back to youtube is having a queue of videos I need to catch up on, but now I find myself caught up all the time and checking subscriptions to see nothing new there and I end up going off to watch Plex or Netflix or something. Once I get "away" from youtube I end up staying on Plex or Netflix to finish the series I just started, etc.

Congrats with your chickens. You can give them meat and tomatoes are good for chickens but not the tomato plant since its poisonous. If you have mice eating their grain mix some chilli seeds since chickens can handle spice but rodents cant.

And I have an extremely predatory chocolate Orpington that likes to nest 6-8 feet off the ground, swoop down, catch and eat the mice. She's a slayer if ever was one. I put cameras in the coop just to watch her hunt at night.
I have an entire playlist called "CZcamss Problems" now because of how bad it has been getting over the years. I have now added this video. It's all terrible and deliberate destruction of the platform, because they could do everything better but choose not to
It’s definitely probably YT trying to get rid of ad blockers. This point it’s crazy on the ads they have. Phone I got 2 no skip ads and the worse was on PlayStation where I had to wait a whole minute watching 5 ads till I was able to skip.
YT has forgotten WHY people abandoned cable TV for online. The more adds you force, the less people watch. The less people watch, the more adds you bake in. Until only Boomers watch and those die off.

Yt has gone nuts on ads most ads 3/4 months ago were under 30 seconds and only every 10-15 minutes. now there 60-90 seconds and every 5-10 minutes. People are moving away from CZcams because the ads are getting out of control and they’re a bit of platforms. Don’t get as many adverts. TikTok’s are becoming longer now at 10 minutes rather than two, which means you can watch a lot more content on TikTok, hence people have moved over to where adverts are not a problem.
What I’ve seen is when I look at my personal subscription list it has all the channels I watch but when I would go into the channels I watch and look to see if I was still subscribed I wouldn’t be even though it says on my subscription list I am subscribed. I think CZcams is unsubscribing people from channels to save some $$. I have had to resubscribe multiple times especially on the larger channels. Definitely something fishy going on. Keep on reminding people to check directly on your channels page to see if they’re still subscribed and not to just go by their own list.
I have noticed the same thing...I forgot about that. They could be an issue as well. I have noticed a couple of creators I watch, such as Felix, with, "What About It". They are now adding a segment in each video suggesting his viewers actually go and check to see if they are unsubscribed. It's literally in every video he posts now. Maybe do the same thing Tyler... just a thought.
If you really want to know my opinions on how youtube and youtubers have (d)evolved over the last few years: 1: CZcams are greedy, they think that their product is air for us, that we put up with all of their stupid changes and with them adding more and more ads. 2: Some youtuber/content creator call them want you want, i dont care, think they are untouchable when they reach a certain subscriber count, that what they say is law and that their view and opinion is the only one. The bigger they get, the more arrogant and greedy they get. 3: Once youtube was created for sharing knowledge and a superb teaching tool, now its all about the money, sponsorship and the power. 4: The bigger the youtuber gets, the more they are like all the rest; be loud, be overreacting, be as every big youtuber, they lose creativity, they slowly lose their original idea/foundation and their identity. Im sorry if i stepped on someones toes here, but that is my reason for getting away from those big youtubers. By the way: my feed hasn changed much, and i dont see any significant change to either the worse or better on my feed and recommedation.
I was watching a slot channel recently who commented that the algorithm wants vertical format more now. Perhaps the potential blocking of Tik Tok has them scurrying for something to entice those viewers.
Yes, I heard that from another creator. He found out that it was the "Restricted Mode". A lot of people have that enabled without knowing. Some 30, even up to 99% of content of some channels disappears that way. Maybe they "restricted" between Jan and Feb more than usual. Click on your account in the top right and you'll find "Restricted Mode:", hopefully "Off". If it is missing, it should be a kids account and the parent account has that activated for them.
This mode is off for me out of the box, never interacted with the toggle. It's interesting. It's probably another of these experiments. I hope it will fail.
It is CZcams pushing us to buy CZcams Premium so we don't see adds .I (as a channel dude just starting to get paid ) can see where it is hard on CZcams to pay every partner creator when most of CZcamss income is selling adds . I pay the 15 bucks for premium to assure we creators all get paid . Otherwise ( like I was ) add blocker users may not be able to afford that 15 dollars a month so they leave because of the rise in adds .
Shorts and new style ads. CZcams has been aggressively fighting adblockers over the past few months, and has replaced many preroll "skip after 5 second" ads with "video is starting soon" ads which forces the viewer to watch in their entirety, 2 or more short ads. CZcams Shorts is being heavily, heavily pushed at the moment, and doesn't have the same drawbacks. Yes there are ads, but normally midroll so the creator still gets a view count.

1) youtube disabling adblockers to get people to buy Premium (so they don;t watch ads) is the main problem. NOBODY wants to keep having their video's interrupted by tons of ads. 2) my recommended almost NEVER shows anyone i am subscribed to UNLESS i pay to "join" their channel very honestly, CZcams is unusable without an ad blocker. or premium. It's full of toooo many ads, and it's super slow and bogged down. Vids just don't load quick anymore because of the anti-adblockers
CZcams has soooo many ads and way too censored. I mean it seems like you can’t say , show or do anything that’s considered offensive or they demonitize it or flag it for something. I think a lot of influencers will leave for a different platform unless CZcams does some major restructuring
My feeds is 75% shorts. If I search something, like gaming-and I’m not subscribed to any gaming channels, my feed is still 90% full of just that. Not any of my subscriptions. It seems CZcams is pushing that harder than before.
my feed and notifications have been buggy for months. Videos simply not showing up in the notification bar but showing up in the subscription feed. After I watch the video it then appears in the notifications. If I let youtube continuously play different videos according to my subscriptions, your videos used to pop up and play randomly along with other smaller channels. Now the auto play feature only plays videos from vice grip garage and never deviates. If i walk outside for any amount of time and another video starts it is vice grip 100% and its driving me insane.
It is normal for creators view counts to be down around the holidays. With that being said. You would have to compare the view counts to the previous year or 2 to see if this is new or not. Go back even further to pre C-19 to make sure. Streaming went up alot during C-19.
The algorithm and search function is a MESS. Every other recommended video I get is an irrelevant video of a topic I don’t care for with 3 views and when we search a video, it isn’t what I am looking for. For example when I look up your video “Can you cook a pizza with power tools” I get your video mixed in a sea of guides on how to cook regular pizza. The algorithm and search feature seem to be broken from my point of view as a viewer.
I’ve definitely noticed… I’m a small channel to begin with but was still averaging a few thousand views a video… now it’s like half of that… my shorts do good though… too bad they don’t pay worth a 💩
208k subs is still impressive! I’m the definition of a small channel, and I’m essentially giving up solely because CZcams’s recent algorithm change, and I’m not gonna put my viewers through this AD frenzy of every 5 minutes there’s 2 unskippable ads each duration exceeding 15 seconds for my content just to watch me struggle to make a video and upload mediocre at best content.
CZcams has made major changes to the feeds. It started Dec with very aggressive subject steering in your feed. Then early-mid February a questionnaire popped up asking you to pick subject matter and it has been rebuilding feeds since.
past 6 months yt hasnt been recommending me any of my subbed channels just random garbage but i usually scroll through my subbed feed now so i can actually see the channels i care about
I swear to god sometimes new videos drop from my sub page. Some days I'm f5'ing that page religiously, so it becomes apparent when suddenly a new video pops up in between other vids I have already watched from that page. However it's very difficult to pinpoint the exact cause. It's so vague that it might even be in my head.
Also if I watch literally 2 videos in a row without manually choosing a new video CZcams literally starts playing 1 of 3 channels that I’ve never subscribed too and don’t even like. It’s so annoying and it’s like they are trying to force me to watch or like those channels. I immediately change it every time and a video or two later it’s back to them again. I wish I could block channels at this point to stop it.
It's a combination of many things I imagine. I can't say I've noticed any change to my Subscription feed. I have been getting more new/small channels showing up in my recommended but it still shows me when someone I am subbed to posts something new for the most part. I think the main problem is how aggressively YT went after adblockers. Now a lot of people have just stopped using the site out of protest. Plus the way people get around watching vids with ads now I think don't count toward viewer numbers. Not to mention just how RIDICULOUS ads are becoming. Why are there "ads" that are full on 10-20 MINUTE long documentaries about the making of a film I'm never going to see? Why do I get SO many foreign language ads that are also several minutes long? Why do ads so often come in pairs or even in threes now? I also tend to not believe the stories of people being "mysteriously unsubscribed" from channels they "watch all the time". I've had a YT account since 2006 and I'm still subscribed to channels that I subbed to back then, even the completely dead ones that don't have any videos. As well as the ones with millions of subs. Likelihood is these people were never subbed to these channels and just assumed they were because they got recommended so many of their videos.
The difference for me lately- I am seeing lots of OLDER videos, I’m seeing stuff that feels like “the other side of CZcams” stuff with low views. I am seeing certain creators new videos but it’s the ones I tend to watch nearly daily. I am seeing videos pop up for subscriptions I’ve had for years but stopped watching. Something changed for sure, and I think it’s splitting those views to older videos, newer creators. I think essentially it’s a ploy to get old creators back on the game, and new creators a chance to shine. Would make sense from a business standpoint point for CZcams. Especially while trying to compete in the “shorts” realm with algorithms like TikTok and instagrams reels.
I have noticed that I don't find interesting to watch anymore on youtube. Few years ago there was a lots of stuff to watch but now it's just people saying same things or testing same product (bellroy, temu etc. on travel/desktop tour/edc/gadgets/what's on my bag etc videos) on every channel. Now a days there is guys who clearly don't even use the things what they are reviewing. Things are brand new and they tell how they have been using it sooooo long and it's so good... or you see same products on multiple channels at the same time and only reason for that is that those are paid "reviews" and all those youtubers have got those products from the manuf. at the same time but they don't tell you that.
I’ve found a common issue for me is upload frequency. I watch CZcams every night for at least an hour, and many are recording 15 minute long videos maximum (most of the time it’s 5-10) unless I watch a podcast channel but they upload far less due to the length of the videos. It takes so many videos to fill that hour that I run out of new videos to watch and either have to hunt for new channels or watch another app for the first 30-45 minutes to reduce the amount of videos I need to watch. Lately the algorithm is pushing newer channels onto my feed which has allowed me to find new channels to watch, but depending on how new I can watch all the videos previously uploaded in less than a week. When they reduced the amount they were paying to creators, it drastically reduced the content many were able to make and people either turned CZcams into their full time job or had to cut back to make money elsewhere. We have premium family because we watch so much CZcams so ads haven’t been an issue but sponsored content presentations take up a solid minute now so that’s even less video I get to watch. CZcams is really alienating its viewers and will likely eventually turn into a subscription only platform like so many other platforms are.
A change CZcams made during this time is the “skip” option when it comes to ads. I know ad blockers can be bad for creators and as a tiny creator myself I don’t use one for CZcams. However I noticed late January now, longer ads will have the “skip” option but skip to a second ad which may also eventually give you the “skip” option. The first time I saw it happen, I thought I was just tired and missed the skip button or something, but nope, it skips an ad and goes to another ad which may or may not allow you to skip.
Suggestions from the channels I normally watch are not showing up in my feed as often as in the past and like others have pointed out the volume, types and placement of ads has changed. Google is either using some new version of AI or some of their legions of employees are making frivious and furious suggestions in an effort to try to avoid being laid off and replaced by AI. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless it continues in the next couple of months. The whole thing often makes very little sense and is completely crazy.
Heres the things I've noticed that have changed in my recommendations in the past few months: 1. Smaller channels are getting more recognition. Looking at the side bar rn I see a video with only 15 views from a genera that I would never watch. It seems that CZcams is trying to push smaller creators a lot harder, and the homepage seems to be required to have at least one video with less than like 10k views 2. The same videos show up on the homepage again and again. If CZcams thinks I should watch a video, they will shove it in my face until I watch it. No matter how many times I refresh the page or what part of CZcams I go to, I'll get the same few videos recommended to me. 3. Videos take a few days to show up in my feed. A few months ago, if a CZcamsr I watch all the time uploaded, their video would be somewhere in my feed. Now, it seems like it takes a few days until it actually shows up. My best guess is CZcams is trying to appeal to smaller channels to try to grow their platform in the long term or something. As many other people have mentioned, they might have a smaller viewbase because ads are just getting insane. I had to update uBlock AGAIN before watching this video because I kept getting ads before videos. Another issue is with the serious talks of TikTok getting banned, CZcams might be gearing up to take over the short-form content part of the internet. When I go onto CZcams on mobile, my entire homescreen is shorts, rather than actual videos. I don't know what direction CZcams thinks they're taking this platform, but whatever it is, its not good
There are THREE things that I've noticed and not all are CZcams issues solely. One ads, no question there. Two CZcams forcefully wanted to me to allow it to track my usage etc and I go by subscriptions (it's random as to which it puts up as my favs). In case that one is me then ok but I don't think it is just me. Three, I read that companies are sending more and more employees back to the office needlessly. One main theme is real estate, where real estate companies want employees and companies with leases back in the offices.
YT is also "randomly" unsubscribing people. Yesterday i just rediscovered a channel (and a 2nd) that i wondered if it was still posting. I was but I didn't have a sub to it. God knows how many there are like that.

A few things: 1. The ads are overwhelming. Start of the video, then about every two minutes after. It becomes hard to stay engaged in any creator’s video and harder to follow through. 2. If you happen to watch ONE video from another creator, then your recommended videos are automatically 95% random junk that are not interesting at all. 3. All the shorts being push to your feed are so dumb. It’s frustrating and annoying. 4. Going back to the ads, CZcams has decided to allow increased EXTRA LONG ads. No one wants 5 or even 10 minute single ads that aren’t relevant. 5. I’ve noticed that even if I have notifications set up for a creator, notifications for new videos are not being pushed. 6. Even livestreams have ads every few minutes and it makes engaging almost impossible. You end up missing 1/2 the content and you play catch-up the entire next few minutes… then another ad comes and the cycle starts again. 7. It seems that they are hoping if they make CZcams uncomfortable enough, the audience will fold and purchase the CZcams subscription for $20 a month. Truthfully, the price isn’t exactly worth it when there are other platforms coming out that are still free. We already pay for a ton of streaming services. $20 a month extra added to the list isn’t appealing. Your content is still great, Tyler. It’s not you, it’s the platform. CZcams is becoming worse and worse. It’s not enjoyable. If Mr. Beast is losing views, it’s definitely all on CZcams.
YT realized they build a crappy algorithm that only amplifies popular creators. They've started pushing more low view creators in the suggested and that's causing less views for the big creators but potentially helping to create new content creators
It would be interesting to see Jan to Feb in prior years as there could be seasonal factors. e.g. people likely have more days off in January, so more time to watch CZcams. Similarly, February is a shorter month, so that could be part of it. It’s only a couple days but depending on release schedules, it could have an outsized impact (Jan had 5 Weds. and Feb 4 Weds so if you release every Weds, views would go down ~20%). On the other hand, some creators stop or reduce their production in January to take a break, so for some channels, you would reasonably expect an increase in views from January to February.
Another side note. There are some days that it seems like CZcams really only wants me to see like 30 different videos. I hit refresh and they just sort of shuffle around, but it’s the same ones. I’m subscribed to a heavy amount of stuff too. I just remember the CZcams of like 10 years ago you could get lost in what seemed like endless amounts of related and chaining video vortexes.. It really seems like the “dead internet theory” is real..
Ads is just one of the reason. I am watching YT from UAE and there are barely any ads here on YT but i have personally noticed that there is a certain hype period of each youtuber.. they rise to a certain point and then drops down to a certain point and then just stay there. I have seen this happening to almost all of my favorite youtuber. There is something psychological about this but viewers tend to watch less videos of their subscribed CZcamsrs in the long run. Happened to me quite often and then i go back sometimes to their channel just to see how that youtuber is doing just to find out that their views have dropped significantly. Maybe it’s the content ‘burn’ but no matter how much i like my old favorite youtubers, I just can’t watch one complete video of them no matter how much i try. On top of that, like everyone is suggesting, youtube is pushing more new channels. Tbh, my yt viewing looks like waves… i watch few CZcamsrs for a few months or years and then i unconsciously move to other channels and so on. Does any of it make sense?
The ads suck, I get an ad at the start of a video, then within the first couple minutes of the video, I get another ad, and sometimes I get an ad after I skip anywhere in a video, even if I go back in a video.
That's crazy! I use to watch CZcams only throughout my day. I'll confess and say I've been watch the new walking dead the ones who live spinoff more often now. And I restarted the the entire walking dead franchise from the beginning. I'm in a few groups on FB and there's thousands and thousands of people in there that talk about it constantly. Kind of weird that CZcams began failing in views as soon as the new walking dead started 🤔
I’ve noticed that when I give a video a thumbs up, it doesn’t register on the video itself or in my “liked videos” folder. And I don’t use an ad blocked as I’m a CZcams Premium subscriber. So whatever is going on is totally a CZcams issue.
The ad argument makes a lot of sense. I'm premium, so haven't noticed any major difference. I use subscription feed, but the main one has been inundated with more topic-targeted recs for tiny channels. The arguments that CZcamss war on adblockers has driven people away from CZcams is very convincing those. The entire ecosystem may have shrunk.
I used to get a lot of recommended videos from my subscribed channels in my feed. Now I am getting seemingly random videos with only a few of my subscribed channels in my feed. On one hand, I do see the subscribed channel's videos as soon as they appear, on the other hand, if I don't watch the video immediately they disappears and random stuff appears in their place.
I definitely feel like the algorithm has changed. It hasn’t really shown me content I WANT to see, and I’m also not seeing people I’m subscribed to in my feed. I don’t know what is going on with CZcams, but something needs to change.
I have definitely noticed a change in my feed. I get a lot more unknown CZcamsrs. I used to get the latest updates from subscriptions, but now it's days after it posted.
The ads coding has changed- adblockers stopped working, another plug to default 'viewing history', changed algorithm for recommendations, shorts being plugged (and made). The mister beast graphic does shows the same dip in jan. 2023, dunno what did change back then. I think I remember both new ad code and demanding default 'viewing history' setting to on though but that might be from later in that year.
Now that you mentioned it. I have noticed that I have needed to search the creators name in the searchbar an go to their site to see their latest uploads. A lot of them havent pop'ed up by themselves even on the homepage, as they normally does
To answer your question, no, I'm not seeing my usual channels in my feed. It seems to ge grabbing a random topic I may have seen and pushing tons of it. Like I watched one video about some random anime and for 2 days I got constant suggested vids about that anime.
I agree with folks' assessment that the CZcams ads system is seriously screwed up. They even have ads on shorts now. They used to have an option to block an ad, but they removed it. At least they did for me when I mentioned it while complaining about some other thing in a twitter post to the Team CZcams page.
CZcams shorts are one answer, so is the ad issue with showing longer ads, or ads in general that are pointless to vids... but also, for over a decade now, CZcams views almost always fall off in the Winter months between November/December and March/April. Gotta remember that many CZcamsr viewers are either on school break and with families at that time (thus less views), or getting ready for end of school years (again, less views). In the long run, it shouldn't realistically effect you too much. CZcams consistency is always key, so if you keep doing you, it'll be just fine. Remember in the case of Mr. Beast there has been controversy related to workplace environment; for Mark it's the fact he's finishing up his movie and hasn't had as much time to record videos; Project Farm/Todd is still putting out his same content, which is refreshing but it can be a niche product or subject. It'll start leveling off and start rising again in the coming months. I think, also, bots have a lot to do with it. CZcams has always sucked at controlling them, and just like shorts, eventually they'll figure and work it out. Personal opinions here, but I've been watching all these guys and them some for a decade +... no worries should come of it, yet.
Amongst all of the issues people are already bringing up, I would like to throw another in the ring as well from my anecdotal experience. I'm not sure about anyone else, but I have found myself getting busier and busier recently. Spending time fighting finances, helping struggling friends and family, etc. so much so, that I know I'm not watching as much stuff as I used to. I'm barely having time for my other hobbies, even the ones I could normally multitask and enjoy.
CZcams shifted pretty hard for me personally this year. I’m getting a significant amount of small content creators recommended. Oddly though it’s fairly old videos, 10 months old or more. 300 views is the average. And I’m watching them! It definitely takes time from my standard subscription watches. Maybe people are getting pushed away from large channels. Large at this point looks to be anything of 25k subscribers.
I agree with YT war on adblockers. As well, YT may be wanting to increase profits at the cost of content creators. YT can pretty much tell you what ever they want for the amount of views a creator is getting. All I can say, is start looking hard at a plan B if the decrease continues. One last thought, is tick Tock is what people are starting to view more. Short videos with tons of options.
The recent ADs and algorithm are changing my feeds to stuff I don't watch. Also, YT is trying to force people to pay for AD Free. Everyone is 40% down. Every time I start a video I am hit with 3 minutes of ads. I bet everyone is. So, screw YT.
I personally have not changed my viewing habits, I do however now have to search out the people I regularly view as my feed is filled with everything but. I also have videos that start buffering until I reload them and then they work. When I click the "would you like to know why you are having interruptions" button it tells me my internet is great and I should have no problems. Then third and most important as so many people have said is that often there are so many ads piled on that when a streamer advertises their own stuff I tend to skip right past it, which then triggers more youtube ads, and eventually I just close the video and go watch something on a different platform.
I try to watch all your videos when you post. I have notifications on so I get notified when you upload a video so I haven’t noticed it, but I hope you don’t give up I enjoy your videos a lot!
That's interesting. I hadn't really thought about it, but my For You page has just felt... different lately. After watching this video, I thought about it and I realized I have been watching a ton of John Malecki videos recently so I decided to check his Social Blade and I'll be damned, his views have a sharp spike upward in Feb... So apparently I have no free will 😰😂
I will say that I've noticed the few main ones I watch daily are put in some sort of favorites list, so those will be the first to pop up as subscriptions . If I play a new subscription, then one gets booted, and that one fills the spot. Possibly Twitch has been more popular these days or another platform. Click on a new video of a random creator and see how many recommendations pop up after.
Today I had 2 channels I am subbed to release a new video and they weren't in my subscriptions feed, I happened to find them in my recommendation feed instead. I double checked with the time they posted with my subscription feed and made sure I was still subbed yet their videos were not in my subscription feed. Curious if I happened to miss more or if I have happened to not catch on sooner and this has been happening for more than today.
Lately I have been discovering something similar as well as 2 different CZcamsrs that it turned out I was unsubscribed from even though they made it into my recommended feed.
It's CZcams and it ads most likely. Massive ad runs happen from January through March and they do this every year. Causes massive view drops alone. This happens every year and it usually clears up after March. They also work rather hard to stop people from using ad blocks during this time
If I search up one type of topic, that's all youtube will throw at me weather I'm still searching for that same topic or not until I try to steer my suggested videos away into another direction. Imo all of us individuals search results are being compartmentalized way too much based on what the algorithm THINKS we want to see. Thus that's all we are being shown. I've also noticed a trend now where my feed is filled with random channels whose goals are video topics that are sort of like celebrity/world news but purposely overly negative. It's like the new thumbnail clickbait type of stuff.
I hardly get any notifications any more, and I'm always getting suggestions for videos I have absolutely no interest in, even though I keep telling them I'm not interested in there garbage, it's getting really annoying, I just keep checking every so often to see if any of my channels I watch have posted new videos
It’s all the damn adds now. Even adblockers are allowing commercials. It used to be that yes you sit thru the obligatory ad at the beginning, but now a 30 to 40 minute video is getting interrupted 4 or 5 times, and that is pissing all of us off.

What makes less sense is I've watched a number of videos that were between ten and twenty minutes long, with an ad before, maybe one in the middle and then one at the end. If I put on a long video, like forty minutes to an hour, suddenly I'm seeing a two-to-three minute unskippable as block every five minutes. What makes it even more infuriating is that they run a caption in the corner that notes "fewer ads in this long video". Fewer ads than what? A ten minute block every minute?

CZcams is trying to kill itself. The amount of ads forces users to either not watch content, or find better ad blockers. I REFUSE to watch ads that have blatant porn, foreign audio, are every 2 minutes, or have 15 minute long videos embedded as 'ads'. Shorts are complete cancer that you cannot even steam them to TV. I keep getting recommended videos from the past that I have watched instead of new content.
But for real, the average 10 minute video goes something like this: Pre-roll Ad. Channel intro for 1 minutes. Sponsor content for 2 minutes. Content actually starts. AD.
It is nothing that you are or are not doing Tyler, it is just the giant corps trying to extract more value, with no regard to the consequences.

However, my phone that isn't protected doesn't get many ads anyway not totally because I'm not recommended Monitized channels with videos over 10 min but also it seems because I'm also not sure if CZcams minimizes ads when on Data but I certainly get fewer to no ads when i'm on data.
My feed has been a mess recently, keeps recommending videos I've already seen or completely unrelated stuff. So definitely a youtube issue.

My CZcams,has the extra ads like everyone else, but heyho, it’s not worth paying the money to go ads free. Also, before when I was on the homepage, I got lots of options/themes of channels that I watched a good bit off eg baking, ghosts, comedy etc. Now I have to ‘fight’ with my tablet to get those titles up and even then I’m only getting 5 or 6 options with VERY limited recommendations which mostly are nothing to do with my demographic or 80% of stuff I have already watched. They seem to be looking after themselves now rather than creators and users. I have to watch the ads until I can skip but I have yet to see an ad relevant to me xx
YT's war on adblockers backfired. People either left the platform or new adblockers aren't showing up as views.
Interesting. I tried watching a video with no adblock and I have waited like 10-15 minutes and it still doesn't seem to count my view. I wonder if they don't count Firefox views anymore? 🤔 yeah that could totally be it. The percentage of views dropped is almost exactly the amount of people who don't use Chrome.

My feed is JAM PACKED with shorts. And I hate it - but I just keep scrolling and watching them, and the more I scroll the more I hate them.... Its a cycle thats killing me.
I don’t know if this will help but a trick that I have tried is watching every short I see full to completion and not skipping any of them. It sounds weird but if you sit and watch every single one you get bored a lot faster and ultimately you spend less time on shorts. Maybe give it a shot

You can remove shorts from showing up in your recommended by clicking the three dots and choosing the "not interested" option. Do this for all the shorts in the category, refresh and do it again. After a couple times shorts should stop showing up for you entirely.

And if I click on something just out of curiosity and it turns out to be clickbait....crap! The "Do not recommend" thing doesn't even help then; I have to go delete history.
CZcams tried to fight against people using ad blockers. As a result, I suspect users with updated ad blockers and apps like Revanced stopped showing up as views on videos. I know my history in CZcams was messed up for a while, and may have been related, but it's fixed now, so when my history wasn't updating it's possible my views weren't being logged.
I don't know for certain this was the cause, but it seems likely related.

It may be a coincidence, but CZcams has started recommending me more obscure videos, stuff made by people with half a dozen subscribers. I like this, as it makes the recommendations less monotonous, but if it's a general trend I can see it being concerning to someone with a large viewership.
I've noticed that as well. As a consumer I find myself being way more interested than before by the recommended videos. I think this change in algorithm is the very reason why I saw a video from this channel in my recommendations a couple of days ago. I had never heard about this channel before and now I've already watched a few videos and really got to like it. I just wish companies had to be more upfront about future marketing decisions with creators working on their platforms, since they are ultimately the reason these platforms exist at all.
YT has been cramming even more ads in videos, pushing shorts even more etc. i have personally watched less YT due to the amount of ads and longer ads being shown. Ad blocker works on PC, but on mobile or through TV the amount of ads they try to show is crazy. 30 second add at the start, 2 mins later they show another ad? if that happens i just close YT and watch something else with no ads or far less ads. I see shorts are now shown first before anything else on mobile , which just deters me from watching youtube.

The ads have been insane lately. I had about 10mins of ads on a 90second video. Every 5ish seconds a new round of ads would pop up and most of them I couldn't skip due to the skip button not being there or the skip button would have it's timer reset over again.

3 to 5 ads back-to-back and you can't skip, then another stream of 3 to 5 a few minutes later. YT is my favorite entertainment, but because of the ads, I find myself noping out of some of my favorite creator's videos if they don't get to the point quick enough. If they get to the point within the first few minutes, and I'm intrigued, I'll tolerate the ads.
But yeah, I have to feel like the quality and/or the entertainment or educational value is going to be worth sitting through the stupid ad streams, and that really sucks.

I think CZcams is pushing smaller CZcamsrs more in the algorithm compared to big CZcamsrs.
I’ve personally been seeing a BUNCH of smaller CZcamsrs when I go to my recommended tabs and far less popular CZcamsrs recently.
I think it is too I have been getting some recommendations for very new channels.
Which wouldn't be a bad thing if they actually made relevant content with some level of professionalism. All the ones I have had recommended use a camera from 2015 and make vlogs, something I have minimal interest in.

Honestly, I think its a combination of youtube fatigue and youtube tweaking the algorithm so badly that people just don't want to use it anymore. My recommendations are completely atrocious, even the search does not work anymore, I get like one page of results for a topic that should have tens of thousands of videos, and its basically impossible to find videos older than a few years.
I find myself no longer using youtube nearly as much now, it feels bland. I also got recommended a Mr. beast video yesterday, me a 29 year old man... the whole thing was terrible, just a giant ad for his chocolate bar, I think I got brain rot from just clicking on it.
Try disabling the watch history. It disables the "mighty algorithm".
I believe there are 3 main factors
1. The feed page algorithm appears to be ineffective, inundating users with irrelevant or repetitive content instead of prioritizing videos from subscribed channels. This can lead to frustration and general disengagement among viewers.
2. Personally, I've noticed a significant issue with the pre-roll ads. I consistently encounter the same set of unskippable ads for months on end. This lack of variety can become tedious for viewers and might deter them from watching as many videos (in particular long videos). But it may be just me because I have personalized ads turned off.
3. CZcams's aggressive promotion of shorts could also be impacting viewer engagement. Short-form content tends to capture attention quickly, potentially diverting viewers away from longer videos. Considering also the fruition of shorts is much “faster” with ads that can be easily swiped away.
I’m not suggesting that ads are the main culprit, but rather that they may not be managed as effectively as they could be.
These combined factors may be contributing to the overall decline in CZcams views globally. However, it’s difficult to pinpoint them as the sole reason for the one-month drop. Despite these concerns, I hope CZcams doesn’t fail, but recent management decisions have been concerning, especially considering the platform’s established status and the challenges of transitioning to alternatives.
My feed is very stagnant and many times does not update with the latest content from people I subscribe to, including yours. CZcams has also been trying to crack down on ad blockers which may be partially responsible.
yup my recommended shows really old videos and my sub feed doesn't show all the videos of the people I want to watch. I know this as I go and check a channel of a youtuber ( I aint seen for a while for some reason) and realise I've missed a whole week of content from them.

Right now, first 8 videos on my feed are 3-8 years old. I am subbed to dozens of channels that posted new videos TODAY. I shouldn’t see videos on the home page that’s are almost a decade old before the new ones of things I’m subbed to.

I have noticed YT aggressively suggesting new smaller channels to check out over the past few weeks/months so I wonder if ppl are just more divided with their viewing.
I mean I guess it would make sense that yt would be diversifying their portfolio. So many big youtubers say they are leaving that if they don't find new youtubers their profits might tank.

I think YT is starting to recommend other random channels in order to gain views on random channels. I think YT is doing this to make more money. More channels with more views equals more money for the half-baked leaders of this platform...IMHO
As someone who’s regularly watched CZcams as a hobby for years, I now, as of around this year/end of last year, seemingly always have to have my phone either jailbroken, or sideload CZcams++ so I don’t have to deal with the ads. You get two pre rolls, get comfy watching your video, and 5 minutes later get smashed with 2 more ads, sometimes just one, but now usually unskippable, so I’ve just gotta get whatever free method I can avoid seeing what feels like just as many commercials as cable TV. If every CZcamsr is going to have a sponsor that takes up 10% of their video, why do I need to also watch 4+ ads on one video that’s only like 20-30 minutes? ☹️🤔
The algorithm is so bad now, it doesn’t recommend that good of videos, it’ll recommend I watch a video I just watched earlier. Not to mention the search is god awful too, the people I watch the most I feel never show up in my feed, and are never recommended. Sometimes I don’t even get notifications for people but they also never show up in the subscription tab either

From my personal subscriber list I've noticed that the content creators have been making less videos the last 1-2 months. Normally what keeps me coming back to youtube is having a queue of videos I need to catch up on, but now I find myself caught up all the time and checking subscriptions to see nothing new there and I end up going off to watch Plex or Netflix or something. Once I get "away" from youtube I end up staying on Plex or Netflix to finish the series I just started, etc.

Congrats with your chickens. You can give them meat and tomatoes are good for chickens but not the tomato plant since its poisonous. If you have mice eating their grain mix some chilli seeds since chickens can handle spice but rodents cant.

It’s definitely probably YT trying to get rid of ad blockers. This point it’s crazy on the ads they have. Phone I got 2 no skip ads and the worse was on PlayStation where I had to wait a whole minute watching 5 ads till I was able to skip.

Yt has gone nuts on ads most ads 3/4 months ago were under 30 seconds and only every 10-15 minutes. now there 60-90 seconds and every 5-10 minutes. People are moving away from CZcams because the ads are getting out of control and they’re a bit of platforms. Don’t get as many adverts. TikTok’s are becoming longer now at 10 minutes rather than two, which means you can watch a lot more content on TikTok, hence people have moved over to where adverts are not a problem.
And now the fucking government is trying to take down TikTok to all we are gonna be left with is IG
What I’ve seen is when I look at my personal subscription list it has all the channels I watch but when I would go into the channels I watch and look to see if I was still subscribed I wouldn’t be even though it says on my subscription list I am subscribed. I think CZcams is unsubscribing people from channels to save some $$. I have had to resubscribe multiple times especially on the larger channels. Definitely something fishy going on. Keep on reminding people to check directly on your channels page to see if they’re still subscribed and not to just go by their own list.
I have noticed the same thing...I forgot about that. They could be an issue as well. I have noticed a couple of creators I watch, such as Felix, with, "What About It". They are now adding a segment in each video suggesting his viewers actually go and check to see if they are unsubscribed. It's literally in every video he posts now. Maybe do the same thing Tyler... just a thought.

If you really want to know my opinions on how youtube and youtubers have (d)evolved over the last few years:
1: CZcams are greedy, they think that their product is air for us, that we put up with all of their stupid changes and with them adding more and more ads.
2: Some youtuber/content creator call them want you want, i dont care, think they are untouchable when they reach a certain subscriber count, that what they say is law and that their view and opinion is the only one.
The bigger they get, the more arrogant and greedy they get.
3: Once youtube was created for sharing knowledge and a superb teaching tool, now its all about the money, sponsorship and the power.
4: The bigger the youtuber gets, the more they are like all the rest; be loud, be overreacting, be as every big youtuber, they lose creativity, they slowly lose their original idea/foundation and their identity.
Im sorry if i stepped on someones toes here, but that is my reason for getting away from those big youtubers.
By the way: my feed hasn changed much, and i dont see any significant change to either the worse or better on my feed and recommedation.

I was watching a slot channel recently who commented that the algorithm wants vertical format more now. Perhaps the potential blocking of Tik Tok has them scurrying for something to entice those viewers.
Yes, I heard that from another creator. He found out that it was the "Restricted Mode". A lot of people have that enabled without knowing. Some 30, even up to 99% of content of some channels disappears that way. Maybe they "restricted" between Jan and Feb more than usual.
Click on your account in the top right and you'll find "Restricted Mode:", hopefully "Off". If it is missing, it should be a kids account and the parent account has that activated for them.
This mode is off for me out of the box, never interacted with the toggle. It's interesting. It's probably another of these experiments. I hope it will fail.
It is CZcams pushing us to buy CZcams Premium so we don't see adds .I (as a channel dude just starting to get paid ) can see where it is hard on CZcams to pay every partner creator when most of CZcamss income is selling adds . I pay the 15 bucks for premium to assure we creators all get paid . Otherwise ( like I was ) add blocker users may not be able to afford that 15 dollars a month so they leave because of the rise in adds .
Shorts and new style ads.
CZcams has been aggressively fighting adblockers over the past few months, and has replaced many preroll "skip after 5 second" ads with "video is starting soon" ads which forces the viewer to watch in their entirety, 2 or more short ads.
CZcams Shorts is being heavily, heavily pushed at the moment, and doesn't have the same drawbacks. Yes there are ads, but normally midroll so the creator still gets a view count.

1) youtube disabling adblockers to get people to buy Premium (so they don;t watch ads) is the main problem. NOBODY wants to keep having their video's interrupted by tons of ads.
2) my recommended almost NEVER shows anyone i am subscribed to UNLESS i pay to "join" their channel
very honestly, CZcams is unusable without an ad blocker. or premium. It's full of toooo many ads, and it's super slow and bogged down. Vids just don't load quick anymore because of the anti-adblockers

CZcams has soooo many ads and way too censored. I mean it seems like you can’t say , show or do anything that’s considered offensive or they demonitize it or flag it for something. I think a lot of influencers will leave for a different platform unless CZcams does some major restructuring
My feeds is 75% shorts. If I search something, like gaming-and I’m not subscribed to any gaming channels, my feed is still 90% full of just that. Not any of my subscriptions. It seems CZcams is pushing that harder than before.
my feed and notifications have been buggy for months. Videos simply not showing up in the notification bar but showing up in the subscription feed. After I watch the video it then appears in the notifications. If I let youtube continuously play different videos according to my subscriptions, your videos used to pop up and play randomly along with other smaller channels. Now the auto play feature only plays videos from vice grip garage and never deviates. If i walk outside for any amount of time and another video starts it is vice grip 100% and its driving me insane.
It is normal for creators view counts to be down around the holidays.
With that being said.
You would have to compare the view counts to the previous year or 2 to see if this is new or not.
Go back even further to pre C-19 to make sure.

The algorithm and search function is a MESS. Every other recommended video I get is an irrelevant video of a topic I don’t care for with 3 views and when we search a video, it isn’t what I am looking for. For example when I look up your video “Can you cook a pizza with power tools” I get your video mixed in a sea of guides on how to cook regular pizza.
The algorithm and search feature seem to be broken from my point of view as a viewer.
I’ve definitely noticed… I’m a small channel to begin with but was still averaging a few thousand views a video… now it’s like half of that… my shorts do good though… too bad they don’t pay worth a 💩
208k subs is still impressive! I’m the definition of a small channel, and I’m essentially giving up solely because CZcams’s recent algorithm change, and I’m not gonna put my viewers through this AD frenzy of every 5 minutes there’s 2 unskippable ads each duration exceeding 15 seconds for my content just to watch me struggle to make a video and upload mediocre at best content.
CZcams has made major changes to the feeds. It started Dec with very aggressive subject steering in your feed. Then early-mid February a questionnaire popped up asking you to pick subject matter and it has been rebuilding feeds since.
past 6 months yt hasnt been recommending me any of my subbed channels just random garbage but i usually scroll through my subbed feed now so i can actually see the channels i care about
I swear to god sometimes new videos drop from my sub page. Some days I'm f5'ing that page religiously, so it becomes apparent when suddenly a new video pops up in between other vids I have already watched from that page.
However it's very difficult to pinpoint the exact cause. It's so vague that it might even be in my head.
Also if I watch literally 2 videos in a row without manually choosing a new video CZcams literally starts playing 1 of 3 channels that I’ve never subscribed too and don’t even like. It’s so annoying and it’s like they are trying to force me to watch or like those channels. I immediately change it every time and a video or two later it’s back to them again. I wish I could block channels at this point to stop it.
It's a combination of many things I imagine. I can't say I've noticed any change to my Subscription feed. I have been getting more new/small channels showing up in my recommended but it still shows me when someone I am subbed to posts something new for the most part. I think the main problem is how aggressively YT went after adblockers. Now a lot of people have just stopped using the site out of protest. Plus the way people get around watching vids with ads now I think don't count toward viewer numbers.
Not to mention just how RIDICULOUS ads are becoming. Why are there "ads" that are full on 10-20 MINUTE long documentaries about the making of a film I'm never going to see? Why do I get SO many foreign language ads that are also several minutes long? Why do ads so often come in pairs or even in threes now?
I also tend to not believe the stories of people being "mysteriously unsubscribed" from channels they "watch all the time". I've had a YT account since 2006 and I'm still subscribed to channels that I subbed to back then, even the completely dead ones that don't have any videos. As well as the ones with millions of subs. Likelihood is these people were never subbed to these channels and just assumed they were because they got recommended so many of their videos.
The difference for me lately- I am seeing lots of OLDER videos, I’m seeing stuff that feels like “the other side of CZcams” stuff with low views. I am seeing certain creators new videos but it’s the ones I tend to watch nearly daily. I am seeing videos pop up for subscriptions I’ve had for years but stopped watching. Something changed for sure, and I think it’s splitting those views to older videos, newer creators. I think essentially it’s a ploy to get old creators back on the game, and new creators a chance to shine. Would make sense from a business standpoint point for CZcams. Especially while trying to compete in the “shorts” realm with algorithms like TikTok and instagrams reels.
I have noticed that I don't find interesting to watch anymore on youtube. Few years ago there was a lots of stuff to watch but now it's just people saying same things or testing same product (bellroy, temu etc. on travel/desktop tour/edc/gadgets/what's on my bag etc videos) on every channel. Now a days there is guys who clearly don't even use the things what they are reviewing. Things are brand new and they tell how they have been using it sooooo long and it's so good... or you see same products on multiple channels at the same time and only reason for that is that those are paid "reviews" and all those youtubers have got those products from the manuf. at the same time but they don't tell you that.
I’ve found a common issue for me is upload frequency. I watch CZcams every night for at least an hour, and many are recording 15 minute long videos maximum (most of the time it’s 5-10) unless I watch a podcast channel but they upload far less due to the length of the videos. It takes so many videos to fill that hour that I run out of new videos to watch and either have to hunt for new channels or watch another app for the first 30-45 minutes to reduce the amount of videos I need to watch. Lately the algorithm is pushing newer channels onto my feed which has allowed me to find new channels to watch, but depending on how new I can watch all the videos previously uploaded in less than a week. When they reduced the amount they were paying to creators, it drastically reduced the content many were able to make and people either turned CZcams into their full time job or had to cut back to make money elsewhere.
We have premium family because we watch so much CZcams so ads haven’t been an issue but sponsored content presentations take up a solid minute now so that’s even less video I get to watch. CZcams is really alienating its viewers and will likely eventually turn into a subscription only platform like so many other platforms are.
A change CZcams made during this time is the “skip” option when it comes to ads. I know ad blockers can be bad for creators and as a tiny creator myself I don’t use one for CZcams. However I noticed late January now, longer ads will have the “skip” option but skip to a second ad which may also eventually give you the “skip” option. The first time I saw it happen, I thought I was just tired and missed the skip button or something, but nope, it skips an ad and goes to another ad which may or may not allow you to skip.
Suggestions from the channels I normally watch are not showing up in my feed as often as in the past and like others have pointed out the volume, types and placement of ads has changed. Google is either using some new version of AI or some of their legions of employees are making frivious and furious suggestions in an effort to try to avoid being laid off and replaced by AI. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless it continues in the next couple of months. The whole thing often makes very little sense and is completely crazy.
Heres the things I've noticed that have changed in my recommendations in the past few months:
1. Smaller channels are getting more recognition. Looking at the side bar rn I see a video with only 15 views from a genera that I would never watch. It seems that CZcams is trying to push smaller creators a lot harder, and the homepage seems to be required to have at least one video with less than like 10k views
2. The same videos show up on the homepage again and again. If CZcams thinks I should watch a video, they will shove it in my face until I watch it. No matter how many times I refresh the page or what part of CZcams I go to, I'll get the same few videos recommended to me.
3. Videos take a few days to show up in my feed. A few months ago, if a CZcamsr I watch all the time uploaded, their video would be somewhere in my feed. Now, it seems like it takes a few days until it actually shows up.
My best guess is CZcams is trying to appeal to smaller channels to try to grow their platform in the long term or something. As many other people have mentioned, they might have a smaller viewbase because ads are just getting insane. I had to update uBlock AGAIN before watching this video because I kept getting ads before videos. Another issue is with the serious talks of TikTok getting banned, CZcams might be gearing up to take over the short-form content part of the internet. When I go onto CZcams on mobile, my entire homescreen is shorts, rather than actual videos. I don't know what direction CZcams thinks they're taking this platform, but whatever it is, its not good
Adpocalpyse, beginning of the year months always have been difficult for YT, YT's aggressive bot "detection" to remove "bot" views...
There are THREE things that I've noticed and not all are CZcams issues solely. One ads, no question there. Two CZcams forcefully wanted to me to allow it to track my usage etc and I go by subscriptions (it's random as to which it puts up as my favs). In case that one is me then ok but I don't think it is just me. Three, I read that companies are sending more and more employees back to the office needlessly. One main theme is real estate, where real estate companies want employees and companies with leases back in the offices.
YT is also "randomly" unsubscribing people.
Yesterday i just rediscovered a channel (and a 2nd) that i wondered if it was still posting. I was but I didn't have a sub to it. God knows how many there are like that.
yt seems to do this once or twice a year this year it actually unsubbed me from a couple channels i watch regularly

A few things:
1. The ads are overwhelming. Start of the video, then about every two minutes after. It becomes hard to stay engaged in any creator’s video and harder to follow through.
2. If you happen to watch ONE video from another creator, then your recommended videos are automatically 95% random junk that are not interesting at all.
3. All the shorts being push to your feed are so dumb. It’s frustrating and annoying.
4. Going back to the ads, CZcams has decided to allow increased EXTRA LONG ads. No one wants 5 or even 10 minute single ads that aren’t relevant.
5. I’ve noticed that even if I have notifications set up for a creator, notifications for new videos are not being pushed.
6. Even livestreams have ads every few minutes and it makes engaging almost impossible. You end up missing 1/2 the content and you play catch-up the entire next few minutes… then another ad comes and the cycle starts again.
7. It seems that they are hoping if they make CZcams uncomfortable enough, the audience will fold and purchase the CZcams subscription for $20 a month. Truthfully, the price isn’t exactly worth it when there are other platforms coming out that are still free. We already pay for a ton of streaming services. $20 a month extra added to the list isn’t appealing.
Your content is still great, Tyler. It’s not you, it’s the platform. CZcams is becoming worse and worse. It’s not enjoyable. If Mr. Beast is losing views, it’s definitely all on CZcams.
YT realized they build a crappy algorithm that only amplifies popular creators. They've started pushing more low view creators in the suggested and that's causing less views for the big creators but potentially helping to create new content creators
Some channels I watch, YT doesn't seem to be pushing the notifications the way they used to.
It would be interesting to see Jan to Feb in prior years as there could be seasonal factors. e.g. people likely have more days off in January, so more time to watch CZcams. Similarly, February is a shorter month, so that could be part of it. It’s only a couple days but depending on release schedules, it could have an outsized impact (Jan had 5 Weds. and Feb 4 Weds so if you release every Weds, views would go down ~20%).
On the other hand, some creators stop or reduce their production in January to take a break, so for some channels, you would reasonably expect an increase in views from January to February.
Another side note. There are some days that it seems like CZcams really only wants me to see like 30 different videos. I hit refresh and they just sort of shuffle around, but it’s the same ones. I’m subscribed to a heavy amount of stuff too.
I just remember the CZcams of like 10 years ago you could get lost in what seemed like endless amounts of related and chaining video vortexes.. It really seems like the “dead internet theory” is real..
Ads is just one of the reason. I am watching YT from UAE and there are barely any ads here on YT but i have personally noticed that there is a certain hype period of each youtuber.. they rise to a certain point and then drops down to a certain point and then just stay there. I have seen this happening to almost all of my favorite youtuber. There is something psychological about this but viewers tend to watch less videos of their subscribed CZcamsrs in the long run. Happened to me quite often and then i go back sometimes to their channel just to see how that youtuber is doing just to find out that their views have dropped significantly.
Maybe it’s the content ‘burn’ but no matter how much i like my old favorite youtubers, I just can’t watch one complete video of them no matter how much i try.
On top of that, like everyone is suggesting, youtube is pushing more new channels.
Tbh, my yt viewing looks like waves… i watch few CZcamsrs for a few months or years and then i unconsciously move to other channels and so on.

The ads suck, I get an ad at the start of a video, then within the first couple minutes of the video, I get another ad, and sometimes I get an ad after I skip anywhere in a video, even if I go back in a video.

That's crazy! I use to watch CZcams only throughout my day. I'll confess and say I've been watch the new walking dead the ones who live spinoff more often now. And I restarted the the entire walking dead franchise from the beginning. I'm in a few groups on FB and there's thousands and thousands of people in there that talk about it constantly. Kind of weird that CZcams began failing in views as soon as the new walking dead started 🤔
I’ve noticed that when I give a video a thumbs up, it doesn’t register on the video itself or in my “liked videos” folder. And I don’t use an ad blocked as I’m a CZcams Premium subscriber. So whatever is going on is totally a CZcams issue.
The ad argument makes a lot of sense. I'm premium, so haven't noticed any major difference. I use subscription feed, but the main one has been inundated with more topic-targeted recs for tiny channels. The arguments that CZcamss war on adblockers has driven people away from CZcams is very convincing those. The entire ecosystem may have shrunk.
I used to get a lot of recommended videos from my subscribed channels in my feed. Now I am getting seemingly random videos with only a few of my subscribed channels in my feed. On one hand, I do see the subscribed channel's videos as soon as they appear, on the other hand, if I don't watch the video immediately they disappears and random stuff appears in their place.
I definitely feel like the algorithm has changed. It hasn’t really shown me content I WANT to see, and I’m also not seeing people I’m subscribed to in my feed. I don’t know what is going on with CZcams, but something needs to change.
I have definitely noticed a change in my feed. I get a lot more unknown CZcamsrs. I used to get the latest updates from subscriptions, but now it's days after it posted.
The ads coding has changed- adblockers stopped working, another plug to default 'viewing history', changed algorithm for recommendations, shorts being plugged (and made).
The mister beast graphic does shows the same dip in jan. 2023, dunno what did change back then. I think I remember both new ad code and demanding default 'viewing history' setting to on though but that might be from later in that year.

I have noticed that I have needed to search the creators name in the searchbar an go to their site to see their latest uploads. A lot of them havent pop'ed up by themselves even on the homepage, as they normally does

To answer your question, no, I'm not seeing my usual channels in my feed. It seems to ge grabbing a random topic I may have seen and pushing tons of it. Like I watched one video about some random anime and for 2 days I got constant suggested vids about that anime.
I agree with folks' assessment that the CZcams ads system is seriously screwed up. They even have ads on shorts now. They used to have an option to block an ad, but they removed it. At least they did for me when I mentioned it while complaining about some other thing in a twitter post to the Team CZcams page.
CZcams shorts are one answer, so is the ad issue with showing longer ads, or ads in general that are pointless to vids... but also, for over a decade now, CZcams views almost always fall off in the Winter months between November/December and March/April. Gotta remember that many CZcamsr viewers are either on school break and with families at that time (thus less views), or getting ready for end of school years (again, less views). In the long run, it shouldn't realistically effect you too much. CZcams consistency is always key, so if you keep doing you, it'll be just fine. Remember in the case of Mr. Beast there has been controversy related to workplace environment; for Mark it's the fact he's finishing up his movie and hasn't had as much time to record videos; Project Farm/Todd is still putting out his same content, which is refreshing but it can be a niche product or subject. It'll start leveling off and start rising again in the coming months. I think, also, bots have a lot to do with it. CZcams has always sucked at controlling them, and just like shorts, eventually they'll figure and work it out. Personal opinions here, but I've been watching all these guys and them some for a decade +... no worries should come of it, yet.
Nothing changed as far as feed. I didn't watch as much this last month because of how the ads are now structured.

Amongst all of the issues people are already bringing up, I would like to throw another in the ring as well from my anecdotal experience.
I'm not sure about anyone else, but I have found myself getting busier and busier recently. Spending time fighting finances, helping struggling friends and family, etc. so much so, that I know I'm not watching as much stuff as I used to. I'm barely having time for my other hobbies, even the ones I could normally multitask and enjoy.
CZcams shifted pretty hard for me personally this year. I’m getting a significant amount of small content creators recommended. Oddly though it’s fairly old videos, 10 months old or more. 300 views is the average. And I’m watching them! It definitely takes time from my standard subscription watches. Maybe people are getting pushed away from large channels. Large at this point looks to be anything of 25k subscribers.
Advertisers only pump the ads around Christmas.
I agree with YT war on adblockers. As well, YT may be wanting to increase profits at the cost of content creators. YT can pretty much tell you what ever they want for the amount of views a creator is getting. All I can say, is start looking hard at a plan B if the decrease continues. One last thought, is tick Tock is what people are starting to view more. Short videos with tons of options.

The recent ADs and algorithm are changing my feeds to stuff I don't watch. Also, YT is trying to force people to pay for AD Free. Everyone is 40% down. Every time I start a video I am hit with 3 minutes of ads. I bet everyone is. So, screw YT.

I personally have not changed my viewing habits, I do however now have to search out the people I regularly view as my feed is filled with everything but. I also have videos that start buffering until I reload them and then they work. When I click the "would you like to know why you are having interruptions" button it tells me my internet is great and I should have no problems. Then third and most important as so many people have said is that often there are so many ads piled on that when a streamer advertises their own stuff I tend to skip right past it, which then triggers more youtube ads, and eventually I just close the video and go watch something on a different platform.
I try to watch all your videos when you post. I have notifications on so I get notified when you upload a video so I haven’t noticed it, but I hope you don’t give up I enjoy your videos a lot!
That's interesting. I hadn't really thought about it, but my For You page has just felt... different lately. After watching this video, I thought about it and I realized I have been watching a ton of John Malecki videos recently so I decided to check his Social Blade and I'll be damned, his views have a sharp spike upward in Feb... So apparently I have no free will 😰😂

I will say that I've noticed the few main ones I watch daily are put in some sort of favorites list, so those will be the first to pop up as subscriptions .
If I play a new subscription, then one gets booted, and that one fills the spot.
Possibly Twitch has been more popular these days or another platform.
Click on a new video of a random creator and see how many recommendations pop up after.

Today I had 2 channels I am subbed to release a new video and they weren't in my subscriptions feed, I happened to find them in my recommendation feed instead. I double checked with the time they posted with my subscription feed and made sure I was still subbed yet their videos were not in my subscription feed. Curious if I happened to miss more or if I have happened to not catch on sooner and this has been happening for more than today.
Lately I have been discovering something similar as well as 2 different CZcamsrs that it turned out I was unsubscribed from even though they made it into my recommended feed.
It's CZcams and it ads most likely. Massive ad runs happen from January through March and they do this every year. Causes massive view drops alone. This happens every year and it usually clears up after March. They also work rather hard to stop people from using ad blocks during this time
If I search up one type of topic, that's all youtube will throw at me weather I'm still searching for that same topic or not until I try to steer my suggested videos away into another direction. Imo all of us individuals search results are being compartmentalized way too much based on what the algorithm THINKS we want to see. Thus that's all we are being shown. I've also noticed a trend now where my feed is filled with random channels whose goals are video topics that are sort of like celebrity/world news but purposely overly negative. It's like the new thumbnail clickbait type of stuff.
I hardly get any notifications any more, and I'm always getting suggestions for videos I have absolutely no interest in, even though I keep telling them I'm not interested in there garbage, it's getting really annoying, I just keep checking every so often to see if any of my channels I watch have posted new videos
