This was a well known Elton song, and then it got a HUGE boost when it appeared in a scene in the movie Almost Famous. It's a great movie about the life of a rock n roll band, and the scene on the tour bus where everyone sings this song is a definite highlight.
Paul B, here is the scene you are referring too. My opinion, it's an iconic scene , in an iconic movie. The late Phillip Seymour Hoffmann as Lester Bangs steals the show. Here is one of the great lines delivered by Lester Bangs: " So, you're talking to Ben Fong-Torres, right? Here's what you do. Tell him it's a think piece about a mid level band struggling with their own limitations in the harsh face of stardom. [Chuckles] He'll wet himself." czcams.com/video/_qW9wqUI4Lg/video.html
"Tiny Dancer" is my absolute favorite Elton John song, but he has a MASSIVE catelogue worth checking out. I'll further push Seth's comment below and add my vote to "I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues" and "Sad Songs (Say So Much)"...but then just pull out his 2-CD greatest hits collection and start going down the list! =) Also react to "Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters".
From my research, Tiny Dancer has appeared in three films - "My Girl 2" (1994), "Gnomeo & Juliet" (2011) and most famously in "Almost Famous" (2000). The scene in Almost Famous is the best known use of the song in a movie. Great song on a great album, "Madman Across the Water" (1971).
You have to give just as much credit to his partner, Bernie Taupin, who wrote all the lyrics in the early years. The best music ever! Bernie would write a lyric and hand to to Elton to do the rest.
Great early Elton here guys from his album "Mad Man Across The Water" released in 1971 and I got this album for Christmas that year. Another great one from this record is "Levon". Elton and John Lennon became very good friends and Elton appeared on Lennon's 1974 #1 hit "Whatever Gets You Through The Night" and he was asked by John if he would like too be the godfather to his son Sean who was born in 75 and Elton gladly said yes. ☮️✌️💕👌
I bought one ticket for my only Elton concert. I knew it meant so much to ME, that I had to take it all in by myself. I didn’t want to share that magical experience. I will treasure that forever 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Elton John never dissapoints. I saw him with Billy Joel outdoors at Cyclone Stadium in Ames, Iowa in '94. The first album I ever bought was "Honky Chateau." Listen to "Honky Cat" from that album, released in 1972.
I think the vocal quality you're trying to describe is 'texture' ... His voice has a lot of texture IMO. EJ is one of the BEST! You should watch the movie Rocketman about his life.
The song was influenced by Maxine Feibelmann, Taupin’s wife and also, per Bernie: “I guess I was trying to capture the spirit of that time (1970’s), encapsulated by the women we met, especially at the clothes stores and restaurants and bars”
Feibelmann also apparently influenced the song “The Bitch is Back” as that’s how she referred to Elton when he was in a mood. You should check out this tune.
ELTON JOHN, "TINY DANCER" "MADMAN ACROSS THE WATER", "SOMEONE SAVE MY LIFE TONIGHT", "DANIEL", "SATURDAY NIGHT'S ALRIGHT FOR FIGHTING", "LEVON", "BENNIE AND THE JETS",
No doubt in my mind that this beautiful young girl with the pink headphones on, if she would’ve been a young girl in the 70s she would’ve owned every Elton John album just like every other girl her age in the 70s.. And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that
This is my favorite Elton John song. It's been used in a lot of movies so I'm sure you may have heard it before. Elton sings with a lot of soul and has his own style which is probably why you like him so much.. That's why I like him. Thanks for your reaction.
there were many instruments that were involved with this song, there is such an appreciation with the effort put into such a classic. Glad your enjoying it
Guys Tiny Dancer is in the movie “Almost Famous” There is the iconic moment on a bus. I saw this movie in 2000 I completely loved it. So endearing. Almost Famous is a cinematic movie watching experience. ❤❤❤ This one was in my childhood into teen years.
This song is really a snapshot of L.A. at that time, and all of the images he sings of in the song you could have seen while driving in and around L.A. in the 70's.
Elton John is a vibe tho. He got alot of good song tbh. I feel like people are forgetting him which is a shame because he really is an amazing artist /song writer. I just watch the movie of his life (Rocket Man) some months ago and the movie was actually pretty good. The actor playing it (can't remember his name. But its the guy playing in The kingsmen) and he actually did a really good job playing Elton John.
OMG you must do Someone save my life tonight fire all day I am a fan keep on Rockin and bless your family forever I sold my soul for Rock and Roll and heavy metal but I grew up on Elton John and Motown 🤘🤘❤️❤️
Great song. Great reaction. I've always liked when you analyze and talk about different aspects of the song. I do like seeing Ms. Recklezz starting to voice her opinion more too. As for Elton John, I admit, I like earlier Elton John songs. His Disney era songs weren't as good in my opinion, but were still good. This is close to one of my favorites of his, but I would choose Rocket Man as my #1 Elton John song. Then again, maybe its "Levon". Or "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road". Or "Madman Across the Water" ... or ... or ....
I saw Elton with his original band in 1975 and again in 1976. Of all the concerts I've been to, I think only seeing Queen in 1979 was better. The song that reminds you of this might be Levon.
I loved this reaction! 💜🔥 Elton John's earliest greatest hits album is burned into my soul! As kids, my Dad would tuck us into bed and put this album on the 8-track (which would just play the album on loop all night 🌙) I can't hear Elton without thinking of my Dad. Check out Daniel, Your Song, Leavon, Bennie and the Jets...you can't go wrong! All 🔥 Keep up the hustle guys!
Elton's deep album cuts are also fire! In the 1970's, Elton got lots of airplay on the Album Format Stations on the FM dial. Try the song called Have Mercy On The Criminal, one of the many album cuts that rival Elton's hit singles!
Early Elton. My fav song from this album self titled Madman Across the Water. Written by Bernie Taupin/Elton John, famous duo. This one is for Bernie's wife. ❤ Almost Famous and other movies used this song. 70's people!!!!! ❤👍🏽🥳
One of my favorites! Also, check out "Benny and the Jets," "Philadelphia Freedom," and "I'm Still Standing." Awesome songs!! I am sooo glad and happy to see you react to a lot of the songs that were the soundtrack to my life. Keep going!!!!
Elton John is an amazing performer. I wish I could have seen him live. His concerts sold out within minutes after opening sales. It was like winning the lottery if you could buy a ticket. Amazing performer.
It was in a now classic scene in the film, ‘Almost Famous’. You two should totally check out that movie if you haven’t. It’s a fantastic love letter to music.
I’m sure you’ve heard this song on tv and in movies. It’s been played in many. You guys should check out “Empty Garden”. He and John Lennon were good friends and that song was his tribute to John. Also “Mona Lisa’s and Mad Hatters”
Maybe check out Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Levon’, Daniel, Rocket Man, Your Song, Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me. These are my personal favorites but there are many, many more! I really enjoy your reactions, you’re both doing great. Keep it up! 🤘🏼

@@ginnywhat5777 lol- good one
Seeing it in the theater was definitely a moment! I loved how the whole audience sang this song along with this song.
"Daniel" is one of my favorites.
Mine too ❤️
Exceptional song!
"Tiny Dancer" is my absolute favorite Elton John song, but he has a MASSIVE catelogue worth checking out. This song has also been in quite a few commercials and was covered at least once by Tim McGraw. Perhaps they've heard it from one of these sources.
Also featured on an episode of WKRP in Cincinnati. The episode with the Russian defector.
@@helgar791 I think I’ve heard Dave Grohl cover it.
Almost Famous is in my Top Ten favorite movies. Watched it numerous times and the scene on the bus when they all sing this song is iconic.
And in Season 2 of "The Office", "The Dundies"
You can't go wrong with any Elton John song, no matter which decade you choose! 💖💖🎤🎹🎶
You have to give just as much credit to his partner, Bernie Taupin, who wrote all the lyrics in the early years. The best music ever! Bernie would write a lyric and hand to to Elton to do the rest.
He STILL writes all the lyrics. Bernie and Elton are one of the most iconic song writing duos in history.
Someone Saved My Life Tonight has always been my favorite Elton song.
Love that song too!👍
mine too 😊
Have listened to this 1000's of times over the last 50 years and it sounds a little better each time.
Great early Elton here guys from his album "Mad Man Across The Water" released in 1971 and I got this album for Christmas that year. Another great one from this record is "Levon". So many good tunes, and his amazing voice! Try “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road “ by Elton next.
I bought one ticket for my only Elton concert. I knew it meant so much to ME, that I had to take it all in by myself. I didn’t want to share that magical experience. I will treasure that forever 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Island Girl, Save My Life Tonight, Daniel. He has a plethora of songs to choose from. Love all of Elton John's songs!
Love "Island Girl"
My dude switched-up the formula… he went verse, verse, chorus, chorus… and it’s a fucking jam.
The emotional delivery is what makes him great in my book. It’s like he feels every note and word….
I Guess Thats Why They Call It The Blues is a great song...one of my favorites by EJ
I’ve heard Elton John’s voice described many different ways, but “raspy”, that’s a first. ✌🏼😎
i would say the opposite, more clear voice.
Elton John never dissapoints. I saw him with Billy Joel outdoors at Cyclone Stadium in Ames, Iowa in '94. The first album I ever bought was "Honky Chateau." Listen to "Honky Cat" from that album, released in 1972.
A funny coincidence, the lady has on a LA ball cap, and a couple of the first words of the song are "LA LADY".
I think the vocal quality you're trying to describe is 'texture' ... His voice has a lot of texture IMO. EJ is one of the BEST! You should watch the movie Rocketman about his life.
One of the best songs ever written. I grew up with the Elton John songs of the 70’s, his best writing period. 😁❤️
Hands down best period! Part of my life soundtrack! ❤
I’m seeing him in concert in 2 weeks and I can’t hardly wait ❤️❤️
"Hold me closer Tony Danza!" 😁
This was my 1st 45 record I bought for my little record player when I was 13 years old. Such memories❤
A few days ago I told Siri to play Elton John. I had forgotten how many bangers he’s had. 🐐
The song was influenced by Maxine Feibelmann, Taupin’s wife and also, per Bernie: “I guess I was trying to capture the spirit of that time (1970’s), encapsulated by the women we met, especially at the clothes stores and restaurants and bars”

Elton John is up there with the Beatles for singer songwriter with an unmatched catalogue. This is an amazing song of which he has countless.
Saw him in concert twice!! Absolutely Fantastic!! Levon is also a good song! So many excellent songs to listen to! He is the Rocket Man!
Love, love, love this song! He is a legend!
I think there is a wistful quality, sometimes haunting quality in Elton John’s voice.
This song is good but I think you would like "Benny and the jets"🔥🤙🏼
Appreciate you kids being so open and honest in your reactions to old time music!! Crystal hat fits the song too!!😊
ELTON JOHN, "TINY DANCER" "MADMAN ACROSS THE WATER", "SOMEONE SAVE MY LIFE TONIGHT", "DANIEL", "SATURDAY NIGHT'S ALRIGHT FOR FIGHTING", "LEVON", "BENNIE AND THE JETS",
"Funeral for a friend/Love lies bleeding"
Bennie and the Jets is one of my faves (after Tiny Dancy). Others are Philadelphia Freedom, Your Song and Crocodile Rock.
Great song! He has a whole catalogue of great songs/material
Best concert ever! Of all his songs, this is my favorite!
When him or somebody else covering this song perform it live with a full orchestra behind them it's unbelievably awesome.
Love Elton!! Seen him in concert and he is amazing live. His song You'll Be Blessed is one of my favs of his. So good. Great reaction!! 🙂

Some songs are just timeless.
Mona Lisa's and mad hatters is Elton Johns best song in my opinion, but really almost everything by him is good
So so many EJ tracks to choose from. Songs for all occasions. Love the t-shirt
There was a recent movie about Elton called Rocket Man. Maybe it was in a movie trailer you heard some of this song before.
This song is really a snapshot of L.A. at that time, and all of the images he sings of in the song you could have seen while driving in and around L.A. in the 70's.
Great choice. Mona Lisa and Mad Hatters would be another nice tune from this Album
It’s in the movie Almost Famous

Favourite Elton song
I think most people have heard many or most Elton songs, and just didn't know it was him.
Elton John and Bernie Taupin an A-One writing team. Elton wrote the music, Bernie the lyrics. I love this song.
"Crocodile Rock" was my introduction to Elton John but I rarely hear people mention it. Might be a good reaction.
A fave,he's coming to sa tx hellyea!!!
His pre-75 music is best.
Undeniable classic
Yo, if yall ever watched the original Lion King, you definitely heard Elton John. He sang Can You Feel The Love Tonight from that movie.
Official video gives this song an entirely different feel...much better. Still a great song.
(Elton John - Funeral For A Friend / Love Lies Bleeding.) is a masterpiece.
It's such a great tune, one of his best. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and Rocket Man will be two you will need to hear
This is a classic but it is in the bus scene in Almost Famous. Great movie if you have never seen it.
I’m sure you’ve heard this song on tv and in movies. It’s been played in many. You guys should check out “Empty Garden”. He and John Lennon were good friends and that song was his tribute to John.
Also “Mona Lisa’s and Mad Hatters”

Such a beautiful song. It just gets better every time I hear it even after so many years!❤️🔥
I refuse to believe this is y’all’s first time hearing this song

Your wife is right, Elton John has a bit of grit/rasp in his voice
His voice is subtly brilliant ✌️
He's a great storyteller
