  • HIKING ENGLAND’S SOUTH WEST COASTAL PATH! ST. IVES to ZENNOR
    We planned the route carefully and booked five different campsites along the way between St. Ives and Marazion, we had allowed five days to complete this beautiful hike along the South West Coastal Path in Cornwall, England… fast forward to the first full hiking day and we had learnt just how incredibly hot a heatwave in the UK can get, people along the hike were dropping out and heading back in land and we soon realised we might have to do the same.
    In desperate need of hydration we headed inland for a quick trip to the pub in Zennor which is only half way along the route we had planned for the first day, by the end of it we had stayed for dinner and had hatched a whole new plan for the next few days that certainly didn’t involve anymore hiking in 35°C heat with zero shade!
    We’ll attempt the route again when the weather isn’t quite so hot. We don’t get enough sunny days in the UK so when we do we need to enjoy them to the full and get to the beach!

    A British couple from just outside London, England. We got married in 2018 and decided instead of a honeymoon we’d travel the world together. We saved money and travel points, quit our jobs, rented our house out and boarded a one way flight. We started this CZcams channel to share our experiences with friends, family and anyone who plans to travel to the places we’re visiting. We leave TKT tips/facts on our vlogs and blogs to give information that we wish we’d had before visiting. We hope you find our content useful :)

    Guess it was a tad too hot for backpacking! That’s a tall order for most! Think I’d have got in the sea & then walked ...wet!!! 🤣didn’t you even paddle?!!Beautiful scenery & so peaceful, nothing like that scenery with no crowds! Thirsty work, Well done! Pleased you got the chance to relax & enjoy it in the end.

      @TideKnotTravellers  Před 2 lety +1

      I was up for quitting the hike before we started and having a beach day instead but Craig really wanted to give it a go😅 we’ll finish the route another time in better weather for it☺️

    Lol, "this is going to hurt, but it's going to be great!" I really look forward to seeing how you guys like the backpacker lifestyle. It's still something we haven't tried yet. You had such a beautiful day for this hike. Such stunning views!
    Well, you've answered my backpacker question quicker than expected. It clearly is as hard as it looks. We would have given up too! You will have to invest in camelbacks if you want to try long hikes like that again.

    • @TideKnotTravellers
      @TideKnotTravellers  Před 2 lety

      We have a camelback somewhere but it’s in storage with all our other stuff😅 luckily we’ve done some more hiking since (without the heatwave) and it’s been way easier and more enjoyable! Highly recommend, there’s something so free about wandering off for days knowing you have all you need to survive🤩

    Great video - its so nice to relive this hike!. My friend and I were walking this same route in July 2021 during the heatwave and it was quite tough. We even stopped in exactly the same place at 12:50 and watched some dolphins in the water, with the tour boats all making a beeline for them. Beautiful. The trail was very quiet because most people weren't quite as insane as us. Planned to do a circle back to St Ives via the inland paths, but like you we understandly gave up and got the open top bus back :) the weather made a 6 mile hike feel like 20 miles! Gonna attempt this again in July 2022, just hoping it'll be slightly cooler.

    Hey guys! Even though your plans changed it was still a great episode.
    Your drone footage of St Ives is stunning! I loved seeing the seals.
    The trail and the views of the water are sooo beautiful, are you sure you are still in England?! 😆
    I am glad you were able to make it to the pub, cool down and adjust your plans. We look forward to seeing the rest of your trip!

      My favourite part was seeing the seal 🦭 at the start, I love hiking but not in that heat. So pleased I manage to convince Craig to go to the beach instead 😂

    The window full of the pasties looked so good! The beach area looked like a very popular spot, I'd want to be in the water there too. Wow that hike was definitely intense - the boulder field would not be my favourite part either. I love British pub food - so good. Glad you got your lemonade after all that hiking. How heavy were your packs? I'm always up for the health and safety reasoning! Haha. What beautiful scenery there though.

    • @TideKnotTravellers
      @TideKnotTravellers  Před 2 lety

      Our bags weren’t too heavy (we’ve since hiked again with them and completed a hike) it was just the heat on this weekend, it was the hottest weekend of the year and the heat made it unbearable 🥵

  • @TravelInteresante
    @TravelInteresante Před 2 lety

    We(mostly me) always underestimate the weight of our bags but thankfully we are not big hikers :) Love seeing England's beaches and beautiful neighborhoods. Such a scenic hike! We'd be all about the fish and chips at the end (and sooo much water!) but unsure about all those peas lol! I think a good call on not hiking any further, we know how hot it was up there so good call on going the rest of the way by car!

    • @TideKnotTravellers
      @TideKnotTravellers  Před 2 lety

      We were so happy with our choice to stop hiking, we’ll do the hike another day when there’s no heatwave. England doesn’t get much sun so when it’s that hot and you’re by the coast it’s crazy not to go to the beach!
