- In my 50+ hours playing this game I have seen a LOT. So I decided to condense it down intro a single video!

I love how many small youtube channels cover Barotrauma! It's our own secluded section of the internet.
That first clip fully sums up Barotrauma:
Completely normal situation > situation goes from normal to "not good" > situation goes from "not good" to "HOLY CRAP WTH IS HAPPENING!?!"
The worst thing that happened to me was when playing with my friends: we were still in the first biome and had just completed a few missions; I was currently repairing some junction boxes (I was the electrical engineer) and suddenly our captain goes "...uh, what is that on the sonar? ... holy shit, where did that thing come from, wth is that?! Its hu---" his words were cut off when the said "signature" rammed into the underside of our submarine, launching me into the ceiling and giving me a concussion.
"Holy crap, get to the cannons! We have a hull breach in every ballast tank and engineering!" At this point I was still in the junction boxes room because 2 of the boxes were starting to smoke, meanwhile my character started to vomit every few seconds and I couldnt see shit. While I was fixing the junctin boxes, the mechanical engineer tried fixing the hull, only to be killed by the hammerhead deciding to ram the submarine again, knocking him out inside a filling engineering room.
When I ran to engineering, I noticed the already burning reactor, which had taken damage somehow. After extinguishing the flames I dropped into engineering and took the mechanical engineers welder. While the freaking sub was filling, I managed to somehow reach the airlock and put on a suit, all while my character was nearly collapsing from the concussion.
I alongside our security officer were the only ones alive after 1-2 minutes. He somehow managed to kill the hammerhead, while I kept the submarine from sinking to the ground, constantly fixing the burning up junction boxes and welding the hull. At the end, the submarine was completely covered in vomit from my character....
Local Grandpa Nurgle enjnoyer and Khorne servant fend off another unspeakable horror...
It's -always- never sunny in Barotrauma.

2 seconds in and I already love this group, absolutely sigma ruleset. I hate hosts who just ban everyone they don't like, it makes the game more interesting if you actually have to use the in game mechanics to deal with people instead of just hitting the ban button.

I got the game and played the tutorial to get a gist of the basics. After watching this, I don't know whether to be scared or go head first into multiplayer.
It can be scary hopping in at first but it gets easier with time. If you can, I'd avoid servers with mods. They often add extra complexity to the game and might confuse newcomers like yourself.

Whats the "best way" to play Barotrauma, just hop on a public server or (if you got them) get some friends together to go through it? I know solo is a challenge and a half so im not sure about doing that...
I would go for public servers with as few mods as possible. You'll have a good time as long as you stay a team player
