Vancouver nudists cry foul as region removes logs from famous Wreck Beach

- A petition is picking up steam looking to return privacy to the famous Wreck Beach in Vancouver, B.C.
The beach has long been a popular spot for beachgoers, where clothing and bathing suits are optional.
The petition said large logs at the beach have been replaced by much smaller logs.
And as Global's Paul Johnson reports, the old logs provided beachgoers a barrier from weather, and more importantly, people who could be interpreted as “peeping toms.”

Classic. Vancouver making another decision to earn the title ‘no fun city’. Can’t pay to fix Kits pool, but can waste money removing these logs for ‘safety’.
This is an act of naked aggression!
😂😂😂😂😂
What bureaucrat needed to justify his existence by thinking this was a good idea.
Whether you agree with going to a nude beach or to a public library you should vigorously defend people's rights
Or be prepared to lose your rights ⚖️
That’s already going on. You also don’t have a right to around completely naked on a public beach.
@@alelectric2767 You do on that beach
@@alelectric2767 It's a Nude Beach. I've been there !
@@alelectric2767 reported for misinformation
I used to go there 30 years ago and it was never a problem then....or since.
The logs are there for privacy, the people are not exhibitionists.
Then why are they naked in public if they're not exhibitionists? It's the very definition of exhibitionist.
@@donnicholson3170That is not the definition of exhibitionist. Try again.
@@bigpacthatseazye3462 um... yes it is. Look it up
It’s funny, First Responders don’t seem to have a problem with logs at any other beaches in the city. Why just this one?
We all know what's happening behind those logs.... it's got nothing to do with the completely legal act of being naked on the beach, and everything to do with the lude and lucidiuse acts people are committing in public behind those logs...
@@theoriginalJPHou have been there. I been there many times and never Shaw these things. Your imagination runs with the wind.
theoriginalJP
You are making baby jesus cry. That stuff only happens in the gay area.
Why not just clear a path for First Responder vehicles and leave the rest of the logs alone ?
That would make too much sense.
"I'm from the government and I'm here to help." The people just want to be left alone!!!
Why is it that lower-level bureaucratic minions always feel the need to insinuate themselves into the lives of others? Boredom?
More bureaucracy people in charge are just making things worse and worse,
these losers need to get a job.
You need to get a room 😂
Exercise in futility. How silly. Spending $ for no good reason.
If you’re going to a nude beach, you gotta be ready to let it all hang out in the first place👻
..that might be problematic for females.....err.....who were born female.
My log will always be seen on this beach. Come check it out.
I hear they want to put all that wood into a wood chipper
@@62Cristoforo🤣🤣🤣
Me Too ! But my 'log' is bigger than your log !
Most Vancouver area beaches have logs - they should just leave the beach and its users alone.
In Hamilton, Ontario, a lot of the homeless community leave big logs on the public sidewalk.
Ynalaw
Nice one! I got it.
You spend too much time with rules and creating issues ! If people can not access because of the logs, too bad so sad.
Logs are great markers and give you your privacy. Just because you sunbathe nude you don't want to be a target to voyeurs! in the 1980's I loved going g to the beach there, and there were the odd creepers, but people actually looked out for them and the culture of the community made it so that if spotted, they were asked to go by people who frequented the beach. I don't know what the culture is now, but I felt safe there and if you managed the hike down, you deserved the serenity and peace and quiet.
Ok we have heard the public safety lie now what’s the real reason they want to remove the logs.
Gays
"they" seem very self-conscious for "nudists"
Odd, you didn't figure out that there is a Global News camera pointed at them?
God forbid a beach has logs....🤯🤯🤯🤯 micro management of people's lives is out of control.
If you’re going to get naked in public, you need to accept you are in public, and strangers will see you 😅
Logs were never a problem. What is a problem is the Looky-Loos. I just ignore them a Strip Off. In the 1970's and 80's almost all were nude. Now its around half on a Good Day. There are 6 other regular beaches in Vancouver and one does not have to climb 495 steps to get to the streets.
What are they going to do with the logs???? Everyone should know, they could be worth thousands of dollars each. There is a market for old driftwood timber. Somebody is trying to "legally steal" the public's ASSETS!
hello my name is tom and i gave them the idea that most logs are dangerous except for the one i have.
That guy's rug at 1:42 is outer-worldly. It's like a dead seaweed on top of his head.
This is great news for us peeping toms !🎉
Really? Does the city of Vancouver have nothing better to do?!
Removing logs for first responders… what are they responding to…. Sunburns??? Why didn’t Global ask that question? Is it because they know the answer but don’t want to say it out loud??? Say it, SAY IT!
I love Wreck Beach. Simply gorgeous. Sadly I have seen drones over it.
Not really a big deal, I mean honestly if someone wants to see you naked and your down there who cares.
Welcome to the twenty first century 🎉
Then why not remove the logs everywhere else. For fucksake. 🙄
The nudists have a petition calling for their privacy. Sorry, if you want privacy then go be nude in your home. If you chose to be naked in a public place where everyone has a legal right to be equally, then you voluntarily forfeit your privacy. And actually, it is a constitutional right of every Canadian to photograph or video record anyone or anything in a public place. I would personally have the respect not to in this case, but other people can exercise that right. So again, if you feel uncomfortable then do this in your own home or fenced backyard
Leave the logs. This is not about safety.
.
It might prevent the spread of HIV and monkey pox.
If you're walking around naked in public why are you concerned about "peeping toms?"
They don't want the cops to witness the man on man action.
You missed the point.....🤡
You missed the point@@Elizabeth-vw1vb
You are 100% correct. Don't let perverts tell you otherwise.
Good you know what they were doing on those logs. Good use of funds.
He doesn’t like a nude beach, it’s devoid of logs
Sounds like someone doesn’t like what they do so used their authority and made up an excuse to remove the logs.
Put some clothes on and stop scaring the wildlife 🤣
That’s balls out crazy
So he interviews a guy from India visiting, and asks for his views on things and the ways they are here and should be ........hmm interesting just look around the streets of Surrey and Vancouver and Richmond and wake the f up
I don't think the fellow was from India...
@koda3967 sorry Bangladesh!!
@@koda3967 pretty sure he says "Nepal" doesnt matter. Its the matter its not his country he is on holidays would figure go talk to people that live there
@@plantbasedstrong2363 Hi, huh? Is Nepal in Bangladesh?
I know where you are coming from! Nepal 🇳🇵 is a mountainous country that comprises 8 out of the 10 tallest mountains in the world including Mount Everest, Mount Kanchenjunga, Mount Manaslu, amongst others!
In fact, it is one of the few countries that had never been colonized. The Anglo-Nepal war was fought in 1814 AD, and Britishers were astonished by the bravery of the Nepalese soldiers. Their weapon, Khukuri, has helped britishers during WWI, WWII and the recent Falkland war in Argentina. Be it the Germans or Japanese in Burma, they have faced the brunt of these smiling warriors.
I know you hate mass immigration from a specific country that is evident in your comment. Maybe it's acceptable too. But bringing everyone under the same boat and spewing hatred for people randomly, I feel, is a bit overboard.
The reporter walks up to the person who is visiting the beautiful BC, was enjoying his own solitude, so who do you think is at mistake here? Maybe asking a first-timer tourist doesn't make sense, I agree on that!
Please keep yourself in that spot, and is that hatred justified if you went to a foreign country as a tourist, and you get hated for absolutely no reason, just for exploring the places.
Sorry, I know Canadians are friendly folks, but ask someone who has been to Nepal, and you will know Nepalese are a friendly group of people too😊
And they called themselves civilized
I may be short in height but thankfully god imbued me with my own log. :)
Only in Canada isms - we’re so uptight compared to European beaches - yes there will always be sneakers - and other types of weird behaviour but post the signs 🪧 and walk away. That’s it. Leave the beach or you’ll look like goofballs or prudes.
Bring your own privacy screen? 🤷♂️
ugh why do we need nude beaches
Privacy in the public, really weird
Hard hitting journalism
Ha, Ha, not so free and easy eh?
It's all old people
not all the time, however the 4 or 5 times I have made it down there was people you wouldn't look twice at. However this is one of the only nude beaches other than one in White Rock area. That we have and it deserves it's place and privacy if that's what the folk that use it want.
Make work project
People don’t actually get naked there maybe 1 or max 2. Topless maybe but very few
There's lots of naked people when it's hot.
Is this a parody skit?
Nope! But I can see why you would assume so 🤔😂
Skid ?
There is a log flotation yard literally just beyond that rock wall, the logs will be back in less than a week
Ironic that those petitioning for privacy also don’t want to wear clothes on a public beach.
Garbage logs ... industrial waste ... full of splinters, bugs ... harvest logs for generator fuel, free firewood ...
It’s about safety of course.
I'll be honest. Nude beaches are gross. We would be better served if it was just a clothed beach.
I am sure lots of people from Arab countries find womens bathing suits gross in North America. Just because it offends your sensibilities or isn't for you, doesn't mean there isn't tens of thousands of Canadians that would like a place where they can sunbathe the way the want. To each their own. Let the nudists have their spaces.
@@x1v160I’m not a nudist, but people are so quick to criticize others, just because these folks are different.
Sounds like bigotry To me. Unless crimes are being committed, let them be.
How do you know they are “gross”? You’ve never been to one. You can still wear clothes at Wreck. Nudity is not mandatory. You should check it outta sometime. You might enjoy it
Plenty of other clothed beaches in Vancouver. leave this one alone.
Most modern womens bathing suits are wrong. @@x1v160
Logs removed... perverts most affected.
could just try wearing clothes or stop shaving
Bummer 😅
That's nasty bro
