- It’s always the dream of a small club in FM.. what if I could see all the free agents in the world? Surely my scouts would find our next wonderkid or superstar transfer? Well, with this neat accounting trick in your scouting budget, we can now scout the world through the previously useless player packages. Football Manager has had this window open for years, but now everyone will know how to climb through it. Need that perfect transfer for your tactic? Well, now you can find him, even in Cambodia. Work permit would be a bit of an issue on that bit of scouting, but you get the idea.
Turns out subscription services taking over the world actually gives us a huge scouting opportunity. I do hope a ton of FM21 saves are changed for the better by this, because it’s really impossible to put this scouting genie back in the bottle. So, I hereby bless with you the wonderkids that will result from this. I also bless you with trophies as long as you tend to your finances wisely. Football Manager is annoying that way.

Another good one for very very low league is to look at your Contract view in squad, and add Agent. You can then click on the Agent and view their clients looking for anyone unsigned. The theory is that agents who have players you have signed before may have others at the same level. You will probably see that 4-5 of your guys have the same agent already. You will also often see that all the players from certain nations have the same Agent.

Searching through the national teams of bad nations is incredibly lucrative as a third tier club!
Even good nations often have unnattached youth players in their u21s that you can sign for free. In my save with Met. Police in League One we just made 23 mill in sales from 4 players we got in on frees in League 2 (A Belgian. Croat, Dane and Moroccan). Only one of them was even good enough for my starting 11, the rest must've just had high potential that made prem clubs froth at the mouth for them.

I haven’t checked it on fm21 yet, but I used to check on world/transfers/youth intake once a month to see which nations had had their regens, then check those nations u19/u20/u21 squads

This is no longer the case! I just scouted UK & Ireland for 1 day with Margate, and didn't press continue until I had already turned off the scouting package. It's a £30kpm package, and my remaining scouting budget has gone from £32.5k to £2.5k. I don't remember this being the case earlier in the save, so I think it may be since update, but idk

I've done some great part-time training in Tromsdalen (3rd tier in Norway). I literally put "Overall" twice a day in the schedule, making them train the volume of 6 days in 3 :D

Thanks Zealand! I'm playing in a Tier 10 English database as Penzance and found this to be a helpful way to find better players. Mainly Irish players though. However, one piece that seems to have changed at least for FM23 is that you are charged the monthly cost of the package even if you remove the package immediately after creating the list. The suggestion to increase the package for a month for scouting purposes though does really help.
It would avoid doing this just because the Work Permit issues would make me cry.

Besides the expanded knowledge of players and the default exclusion of players uninterested in joining your team (which you can toggle at the top right, or change to those who would be interested to join on loan) -
Also pay attention to those who are wanted by other clubs at your level or above.
They are usually decent enough, and most of those wanted by clubs in leagues above yours might still be ok to join if you promise more game time, and insert a minimum release clause that is achievable for clubs in higher divisions (like say for Braintree, a minimum release clause of 50k-100k would be acceptable)

I suppory Braintree and am from Braintree we'll stay up since we our former player Ryan Maxwell took charge we've been in good form, shame tho we were 2 nill up against Chelmsford and bottled it and lost and the Chelmsford game is the only real game that matters

Yeah, noticed they made a turnaround after George Borg resigned and Maxwell got in, suddenly winning a few and upsetting vs Dartford who was currently number one (Still is ATM).
And yeah ... Chelmsford games are key, but hopefully, with Maxwell in charge, they'll get to beat them later down the road ^^

@@mikkelzeen Also if you are doing or do another save with Braintree and our fine using Affiliate Clubs (I know some people don’t like to) you have Witham as an affiliate (they are a Ten minute drive from Braintree) loan players when you can try to make them good so they get better than Chelmsford, Colchester and Southend laugh at all 3 teams once you’ve done so. If you play long enough to get them to the prem somehow. Witham are pathetic irl and it carries over so you’ll have an easy six points. At least make them better than Chelmsford (Witham aren’t rivals though just makes me laugh seeing them bigger than Chelmsford.)

Problem after you put the money back into where it was...you cant change the wage budget to what it was beforehand as the board stops you doing that. For how long though?
It's really strange, since I'm from Russia and yesterday I was looking for a club in the lowest league(s) of England to start career there. One of the choices was Braintree Town because of it's name.
It's named that cause it is named after the river Brain in Braintree and I believe the trees that were there next to it not to many any more tho. I'm from Braintree and support them. if you do a save with them smash Chelmsford and when you get to the Football league smash Cambridge, also were rivals with Billericay and Concord (sort of) And if you happened to play them in the cup smash AFC Sudbury for some reason fm says there not a rival team but they are

Do we know for sure if the first/last day of the month or the Continue button triggers the whole monthly amount of the scouting package cost? Somehow i got deducted the whole monthly amount for 1 day/a back and forth switching/ and would like to know what to avoid next time :D
You shouldn’t even advance one day, I’m talking signing up for the scouting service writing down names and then cancelling

Nice Vid Z ! :D i have just uploaded a video, with a excel spreedsheet that i am working on, where you can use the shortlist you just created to see, exatcly what role each player are most suited for , based on the attributes reqiurred for that role. Currently i am working on rewriting the model, so it takes key attributes and normal reqiurred attributes into acount :D

It is a great method to advance as a non-league, together with free-loans. But I will most likely not go to this because to me it feels tremendously cheesy gamey. Thank you for always sharing this knowledge in any case.

Have done it as shown in the video (changing package, looking through, cancelling without any continuing) but I still get charged the monthly fee.

One trick you can use to get around the fact that the trialists are ruining your training is to stick them all either in the reserves or the under 19s when they arrive. That way they only ruin those trainings and at a low level your youth team probably doesn’t matter as much anyways!

I tried this in FM20 in Swedish lower league but for some reason got charged for the package at the end of the month .... 40k of my 42k scouting budget gone in month 1. Any idea what i did wrong? (pretty certain i turned off the expensive package before clicking Continue!!)
Also for me it was that. Scouted whole EU with a CZ 2nd Division team for only 1 day, then switched it back and it charged me the whole month for the most expensive one. Might have been the last day of the month though so that might triggered it. Would need some clarification for sure.
They will absolutely remove this now in the next game but until then!
I from Braintree and support Braintree you're better then Kev in one of his series a few years a go he called us a nothing mid table team.
I like to put a filter in to show me the last club each player played for. So say if they used to play for a premier league club i trial them first. Seems to work well when finding good players on a free

@@mattypusplatypus3340 So I think Zealand is onto something. I tried it and it worked. You need to switch the package back to zero the same day! So add the players to your shortlist so you have their names and can offer trials but switch it back to no package on the same day after you shortlist. That way at the end of the month it doesn't use your money :P

This seems like it just adds tedium.. If you're gonna "abuse" some of the systems like this, why even have player attributes masked?
Just show all attributes and search away, instead of managing shortlists of hundreds of players through trials. And if you want to have a "realistic" save, with hidden attributes, don't use player search and just use ascouting assignments and individual player scouting/trials. At least that's my take on it, depending on what kind of save I want.

I actually don’t think this is even that good. There’s an over abundance of free agent players that can transform a Vanarama NS/National team just in England.
I would rather pump that money into facilities. Won’t be super useful short term but will help long term.

This has a real life equivalent though, it’s just using a scouting service for as short a time as possible to get names of people to invite to try out

It's SI's fault right ? I mean, it couldn't happen IRL honestly. There should be a delay between the time you suscribe to a package and the time you reap the benefits by getting knowledge about players.
Agree. But if you let it charge you at least once, you're now approaching something like a semi-realist scenario. 3 months might be even 'better'.

FM would be so much of a better game if these exploits were reported in the bug forums instead of being praised in CZcams videos...
To me, exploits don’t have a real life equivalent, like the transfer bug last year that I just reported. This is just signing up for an online scouting service for as short a time as possible to get a list of names to then invite on trial, which is possible in real life
There’s no such thing of a subscription trail in FM. If it was replicating it then it would say cancel before money is taken out. The fact that you can get a package without spending money is an exploit
