Once the Dirty Bourbon River Show began playing in the Garage, all we had to do was close our eyes and we could almost feel the breeze off the Mississippi River and smell the crawfish and red beans and rice.
The session by the New Orleans sextet was exactly the type of jazzy experience one would expect to hear on Bourbon Street and other parts of the Big Easy.
But here we were, in Colorado, essentially being transported by frontman Noah Adams and the rest of the Dirty Bourbon River Show to sea level and the famed New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
Dirty Bourbon stopped at the Garage during a four-month tour in support of the album Important Things Humans Should Know, which was released in April.
One important thing you should know is that Dirty Bourbon lives up to its self-imposed moniker, “New Orleans Big Brass Circus Rock.”
It’s difficult to explain that description, but perhaps it stems from Adams’ wild-eyed stage presence of Adams. Or it simply could be the good-time fun one experiences listening to Dirty Bourbon’s music. The band played the first three songs off the new album - “Ezmerelda,” “Wicked” and “Animal” - and then continued to entertain during a wide-ranging interview with Quentin.

What they brought us: a poster bearing an actual corncob pipe that had been used for, uh, extracurricular activities.
