The spiritual successor (at least in theme) is probably Dream On (Aerosmith). Came out earlier this year. Glad you saw this first, it's crazy how much thry ggew in the 2-3 years inbetween this and Dream On. I'd highly recommend it.

This is one of their older songs, Geoff has matured and gotten stronger that this but he has always been able to bring lesser bass singers to tears. Welcome to the rabbit hole. I would look at Radioactive from Pentatonix to compare the two groups in very similar songs so you can see the two styles.

This one is on my top 10 maybe top 5 VoicePlay's videos. I love it! Layne did both the violin and vocal percussion. J None did a few lines on his violin too. Check out Dream On (Geoff calls it Warriors 2) next. Also incredible. And Man In The Mirror is spectacular.

This is one of their most powerful pieces in my opinion. You can’t help but feel it. Those not strictly a cappella the violins add so much to this piece.
I am going to agree with the recommendation that you cover Dream On. They do have different people in it as it is more recent. Others that you might enjoy that are very powerful like this are HALO and My Mother Told Me featured in the Assassin‘s Creed game.

I noticed you don't reply to comments much and since this is 2 months later, I'm not sure you'll see this but I'm catching up on your reactions to VP and HF.
The plucking of the strings on the violin is called pizzicato.
Of Home Free, I'd recommend Helplessly Hoping (serious cover), Champagne Taste On A Beer Budget (funny original), Everybody Walkin' This Land (good message and bassy), and since you like mash ups, Country Fried Pop Medley (15 songs/17 artists).
Of VoicePlay, I'd recommend Carry On Wayward Son (70's rock), Eleanor Rigby (Beatles), or My Mother Told Me (Viking).
