Pinnacles National Park: The Best Hiking Trails

  • Visited the west side of Pinnacles National Park. Hiked the Balconies Cave and High Peaks trail. There was also a dark sky party in the main parking lot.
I camped nearby and did the cave on day 1 and high peaks trail on day 2. The weather was perfect.
There is no cell service beyond the main parking lot. Except at the top of high peaks trail.
I would recommend you bring a headlamp and water shoes for the caves. I took off my socks and insoles and hiked in my trail runners. The cave can be slippery in spots.
The high peaks trail is great! The trail itself is very smooth in most places and has a moderate gain. Bring 1L of water and hike in the morning if possible.
After having been to both sides of the park now I would say I prefer the west side. The Bear Gulch cave is not nearly as good as Balconies. High Peaks trail can be accessed from either side.

Have you been to Pinnacles National Park? What is your favorite part? For me it is hard to choose between the caves and High Peaks trail. It feels like pure adventure walking through 2 ft of water in cave! The views from High Peaks were amazing the day I was there.

We can go next time you visit! Only 1.5hrs each way! Could do all of this in a day trip.

Thanks! It was a blast! Maybe sometime we can go down there and check it out together. It wasn't difficult. :)
