Couple of things I forgot to mention, regarding the Chromatic Aberration, you can eliminate it completely in Lightroom if you go Manual, but I meant to keep it as a "One click fix". And also this lens doesn't have any official Weather Resistance rating but some light rain won't do anything to it for sure. Cheers!

    This video really help me!
I was confused to take 85mm f/1.8 or 50mm f/1.4..and it helped me to select the correct one💙

Thanks so much for your kind words! I hope my videos are helpful. Never too late to get back into stills photography😊 For me the hardest thing to answer is the question "What are you most interested in?" Because it's just so many types of photography/video stuff, I can't pick one. And I do have a drone (only) video coming up next too, just proving that point haha, cheers!

If you had a choice between the two 50mm 1.4 or the 50mm 1.8 both the same price, which one would you
prefer? or a better lens. If price were the same.

Same price... well, choice is easy, isn't it?!?

For the money over the 1.8, the optics are quite disappointing. The bokeh isn't nice at all, blur looks jagged and sharp, not smooth, and the blades give an angular look to highlights and there's no contrast. The Sigma 1.4 has a much sharper image, less vignette, aberration and nice smooth blur. Only problem is the size and weight, and slightly extra money. It's a pretty chunky lens. I would go for that definitely for studio work, maybe this for street photography / event photography where you don't want so much weight round your neck all day. It's a sad compromise.

I agree, definitely I’d recommend the “cheapo” 1.8 Canon over the 1.4 for pretty much most people. It’s a pretty old lens and I believe the age shows. But still capable of some beautiful captures I’d say. And Sigma has been killing it for a while now indeed, but they are quite bulky yeah.

@@MihaiStrömpl Yep, one of the reasons I upgraded was to get a lens hood for Wedding use, so protect the lens. I was hoping the auto focus would be more accurate than my 1.8 as this is USM, but it's just the same problem. Bit hit and miss. It's just quicker and quieter.
