    Initiation is key to communication! This is why we as therapists need to be careful to avoid prompting like "what do you want?", "Tell me", and using starter phrases "I want...". This is why PECS is sooooo important.

      Thank you for your interest in PECS.
      We have 2 more recent videos that provide an overview of PECS.
      The first one A CLEAR PICTURE: THE USE AND BENEFITS OF PECS, is an overview presented by one of the co-developers, Lori Frost. The second video, PICTURE EXCHANGE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM® (PECS®): 4 PART SERIES, is a module series (each part approx. 12 min) that provides information about PECS. Module 3 shows PECS in action with students.
      Both videos can be found on this link: pecsusa.com/videos/
      Additionally, there is a video with a short explanation on ‘Getting Started with PECS video’: czcams.com/video/Hs-412lhXb0/video.html
      Recently, we also have a “Support at Home” page pecsusa.com/support-at-home/that provides ideas on how to implement PECS in variety of activities and lessons that happen in every day life.
      Hopefully this information will be useful. Please feel free to let us know if you have any questions.

    • @pecsglobal
      @pecsglobal  Před 3 lety +2

      Yes, we do. Our PECS IV+ app is available exclusively for iPad and is intended for learners that have mastered phases I through IV of the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) using a traditional PECS Communication Book. More information about PECS IV+ and the other apps we have available can be found here: pecsusa.com/apps/.

    Better take photos of real objects and toys they are using and print it out laminate and use in PECS.most of the kids I worked have difficulty in generalizing this cartoon images with real items.

      It’s not a good idea to start with photos. They really know their stuff, these PECs folks. Our son associated the photo with a particular park & no other green park. He was self-harming every day & 100% non-verbal, but now at 21, so happy and he is also verbal.
