StAlbans Roman museum #verulamiam.
I’m from the city of St Albans in Hertfordshire and love hearing story’s about the origins of my beloved city
Going to use it for my lesson on Tuesday
Be blessed.
My parents named me Albany after St. Alban. Im glad to know the history.
Alban should be England's patron saint in my opinion.
Hes Britain's earliest martyr,
StGeorge isn't even English, he's a soldiers saint , Edward 1st I think decided on George.
Alban was beheaded in England. His blood was soaked up into English soil.
I wonder if you can change things like that, 🤗 I want Alban.
Yes I am biased bc StAlbans is my adopted home city ,
Wonderful
not much i can use out of this video except the ending
Nice intro to St Alban. However, the subtitles were machine-generated, I imagine, and way off at several places.
The first Cristian martyr of Britain.
Mr regans a sket 8==D
It's a good story..
but that's all it is,
Gildas (6th century) hardly mentions Alban , he says the name once & mentions a shrine..
Considering christianity was a new faith in the 400s you would think a story like Albans would be written and copies sent around the empire.
The Roman postal service was surprisingly fast , bc of the Roman roads.
But Alban getting hardly a mention is very strange .
Especially when reading Bedes version ( over 200 years after Gildas) with its description includes every minute detail of what happened...
It doesn't take a Sherlock Holmes to realise it's church history.
Based on nothing archaeological.
Like most church stories.
Worst subtitle job ever.
Unbearable... , I got as far as 1:25
