    Glad you were able to catch on it! Its a great easy to use bait that works really well. I do catch year round on oats but seeing as it is colder I would recommend making the grits pack. I am adding a video tomorrow of how it looks underwater and looks like an up and down mix that is constantly moving. There is not much for the fish to feed on and is a great cold water bait.

    I live in PA, I know the feeling as some of the lakes are large. I fish a lake over 1,000 acres and it does take a lot of time and work to get consistent fish. Trying different sections of the lake can mean the difference between smaller fish and large fish. Good luck!

    I make mine a lot of different ways. I put this one up as its probably the most common way to make it. I have used instant potatoes in other packs. I will have to experiment with oats some. Thanks

    Thanks again! I have a few more videos that will be up in about a week. I just have to edit them and upload them. The next one will be a rice pack bait that is really great in pva and it also works like an up and down mix like the solar stuff. It doesn't cost a lot and works very well.

    I usually do not add salt to this as the cream corn has a small amount in it. I have done well without. You can add salt though to the mix. I would say around 1 tablespoon roughly for the amount in this mix of kosher salt.

    I am glad to hear it went well for you. I just looked and amazon.uk sells instant grits and regular grits. Maybe try there and have them shipped? They do work better in colder water though so maybe early spring or late fall.

    No problem. If you ever find your way in PA let me know and I can get you sorted with a bag or two. The only other place I would suggest trying is check out any place that has horses because that is the majority specie that eats oats from what I have seen.

    Yes flour will make it bind much better. Remember a little goes a long way and too much can totally lock up a bait. Slowly sprinkle on a little and then test it to see if it is to your likings. You can always add more but you can never take away. For a standard mix you may only use less than a table spoon sometimes. Hope this helps.

  • @BrianWingard
    @BrianWingard  Před 11 lety

    Chris, CC Moore stuff is still in customs so it may be a few weeks still. Keep in mind you don't have to use flour to bind this. I use the flour for longer casts of say 60+ yards. If you are fishing closer in then you probably won't need it. I will try to get something more advanced up shortly. Just getting caught up on house work since I have been fishing solid for 2 months every day. Thanks for watching!

  • @BrianWingard
    @BrianWingard  Před 11 lety

    Steven the rice is meant to attract the fish. You still need a bait to use and once you pack the rice around the hook with the bait it should stay on better. I usually pack mine around the lead. The rice is merely there to pull the fish in to find your bait on the hook or hair rig.Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

    • @BrianWingard
      @BrianWingard  Před 10 lety +1

      Gerry L Turner The weight is called an inline lead, The ones I use are around 3-4oz. The tool is called a baiting needle. It has a small latch that will hold the loop on as you pull it through the bait. I have a few other videos on both leads and the bait needles if you need a more visual look at each one. Thanks for watching!

  • @BrianWingard
    @BrianWingard  Před 11 lety

    It will not bind the same as maize flour. Since corn meal is course it will actually make it break slightly faster. You can use any type of flour but since carp like corn I found maize flour to work the best. Thanks for watching!

    • @BrianWingard
      @BrianWingard  Před 10 lety

      mike lett Thanks for watching! For wild water we use 3-4oz leads so if you would pack around the bait and not the lead the force of the lead on the cast would go faster than the pack and fly off no matter how well you packed it. On lighter leads you don't have this problem.

      @@hikenmikes8262 I usually tell people the same thing for any bait or flavor. Every single day is different and what worked today may not work tomorrow. I have had days where I kill it on a certain bait and go back the next day and nothing. I always like to have options so I can figure out what the fish want that particular day. The worst thing anyone can do is go fishing with a set mind on what they are going to use without any options available if they need to change.

      +james parrish you basically just need to add in something like a syrup that does not go bad instead of cream corn. Also when you fish with it you need to put some into a separate container because when water touches it that will start the bait to go off. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
