My 1999 E36 M3 Convertible Project - Starting Point

Here's what happens when you swoop in and grab an old car on eBay based on the description and a few strategic photos at the last minute without doing due diligence.
That "super clean" car with "new top" and "no mechanical issues" that I scored looks great from 15' away, but upon closer inspection was held together with velcro, duct tape, zip ties and the imagination of its previous owner in Indiana. It stanced its way through inspection, rocking an SRS light then proceeded to dump all its coolant after passing.
Challenge accepted.
Ultimately, it's a solid car even if it's missing 1000 screws and bolts. I love tinkering with the E36 platform, and the convertible brings a whole new set of problems to solve. Rather than just dump this car off on someone else, I'm going to go all OCD on it and build the perfect beach sports car.

If your ac is cutting out intermittently just replace the blower motor transistor first! Do NOT CHANGE THE BLOWER MOTOR ASSEMBLY. You just might save 1000 in parts and labor.

Nope, US Spec are 5 speeds. In Europe they had the Getrag 420G 6 speed transmission
