  • Have you ever wondered? What is Waldorf education? Possibly you’ve stumbled upon the beautiful wooden toys or have seen the rainbow of play silks across the internet that are most associated with Waldorf education. But beyond the aesthetic, what is Waldorf Education?
It’s a hard question to delve into because Waldorf Education is so nuanced and layered, but I try to give as concise of a description here in this video. My goal in this video is to present the philosophies associated with Waldorf Education and then how that translates to the classroom and/or the home.

Kate, how do you go about choosing what lesson blocks to cover for your preschooler and kindergartener? I don’t want to purchase an expensive curriculum at this point but I’m not sure what to focus on first.

Hi Katherine! That’s a great question - honestly for preschool and kindergarteners I wouldn’t purchase any curriculum at all. The lesson blocks don’t start until age 7, and before that I just focus on a 15-20 minute circletime and a storytime each day. The rest of the day is devoted to play. It’s a great time to work on cultivating a rhythm in your home, too (I have a video on that if you’re interested in more info!). Let me know if you have any other questions and I’d be happy to help!
