This is both a really good one and sad one at the same time. She was ill and all turned around, not realizing that her husband was trying to keep her healthy in her final days. Trying to be kind and not reveal to her that she was dying. That she's doesn't even remember killing him and is lost in her own world of golden days long gone.
Dang. Wish I could watch the entire episode. What an amazing story.
I should have been angry at Grace for killing her husband before I realize what was happening to her, then when Ned decided to lie to her in front of Columbo, I was crying.
This was a very good episode, The Lieutenant shows compassion for the afflicted actress only to suffer a similar affliction years later!! 👍🙏

The acting is unsurpassed in this episode. Nice vocal version of Speak Low. Poignant twist at the end. Brilliant production on every level.

It is crazy how much Jamie Lee Curtis looks like her mom, especially in their older years.
Shockingly, Janet Leigh ( I adore her ) was only about 48 when this was filmed. She had a face-lift by this time, but I assume sun, cigarettes and booze took a toll.

Oh wow, all these years, I didn't recognize John Payne from Miracle on 34th Street! It's the voice that even made me look him up.
I agree. Jon Payne was in a horrible automobile accident in New York. He was a pedestrian and was thrown into the air. His face required reconstruction and he needed several operations to restore his vision and I believe reconstruct a leg.

How old was she when she did this episode. She is meant to be an old lady with severe dementia- but I get the feeling she was nowhere near such an age....also I don't know this actress at all... but love this episode.
She was around 48 years old at time on Columbo. It was filmed in 1975. Always just Loved her

@@tracymurray6840 I always thought she was to be in retirement age, 65 or older, her husband in the episode was a lot older and also her co-star. Sam Jaffa and John Payne.

What a body. But I think her hairstyle made her look older .
Overall she looked great, but I agree a softer style would have been a bit more flattering.

@@marymcquaid7291, precisely. Leigh was definitely only in her late 40’s at the time. Perhaps she was trying to look a bit older and more glam for this part? Hard to say. I remember seeing her in another TV appearance a little while after this with a more blown out ‘do and she looked awesome.

She was watching a movie she starred in with Donald O'Connor "Walking My Baby Back Home" from 1953.
I put off viewing this episode for years because for some reason, the plot description didn’t interest me. All the while I was missing out on some great writing and acting performances.
The story is a tragic one with much irony.

You know, I was wondering. Oh I'm sure It's probably nothing, but won't you mind me asking. If Columbo has a wife, why doesn't he wear a wedding ring. Didn't meant to make a pest of my self , but I had to ask this question, you know, just to tie up some loose ends. I'm sure you will understand
A LOT of men don't prefer to wear the ring. Allergies or chemicals that get under the ring, or they get caught on equipment, or whatever reason. Doesn't mean the commitment isn't there. And being that Columbo constantly speaks about his wife I think there's no doubt about that commitment.
