    That was a great interview!
    It was with a real working PHOTOJOURNALIST and how he does his actual work for Associated Press. It takes a different set of skills under wide -anging conditions- to capture the news stories.
    Jared, this is something I am pleasantly surprised to view!There are new cameras, yes… and the embargo has been lifted and everyone pretty much puts out the same story.
    Another $4000 or $6000 camera.
    But HOW a photographer gets to use the camera equipment- out in the field … that’s a rarity.
    And what Jared does like no one else… he can educate the audience with this great information! It’s worth a watch!
    👍⭐️👌

    • @mikede2464
      @mikede2464 Před měsícem

      @@dirtysouthtiger In my opinion, insinuating that a failure to use manual focus negates his claim that "I'm in charge of the camera..." is a straw-man argument and a false dichotomy. One can be in charge of a something (in this case a camera) without having to have complete 100% control over everything it does at all times. For example, we feel we are in charge of our car even though the automatic transmission selects the best gear for every speed. But at a certain point-and that point is different for different people-the level of automation crosses a line into 'I'm no longer in charge'. Apparently for the photographer in this video, that line includes things like auto iso and advanced AI AF tracking, but does not include traditional AF. Me? I could not live without auto iso...

    Wonderful interview Jared thank you for setting it up... it just amazes me how technology has leapt forward in such a short space of time..
    My first political assignments (in Europe for Reuters in the early 80's) I was rushing off to develop and transmit a B&W print. We morphed from making B&W, then Colour prints on the road (usually in a hotel bathroom) through various colour neg scanners, Leafax, Hasselblad Dixel and Macintosh PC's..
    By the early 2000's we were sending from a laptop and a mobile phone from the site.. I had a great series of publications with a Pope shot because I had a Canon DCS1 camera and a GSM phone.. Now you can transmit from the camera.. it's mental.. The essence has not changed, and how Evan covered the assignment is really how we used to do it. He is obviously a real pro... I'm guessing Doug Mills, who I met several times on assignments when he was at AP, will know & have experienced exactly what I did in those days (he's actually 2 years older than me). except he is now there with the 2024 tech.. Hats of to him and to Evan for an an image that will become iconic..

    Great interview, I like the part when Evan said the the camera is a tool and he turns down the frame rate, so he can be situational aware (exactly). It kind of drives me crazy about the talk, how many frames a camera can shoot per sec. Timing is more important because we can focus on what we need to photograph. It kind of reaffirms my feelings about setting the camera up and a focused mindset, for sports and photo journalism. I started off in the 1980s, and shooting hockey with strobes in the rafters, in rinks in 2000s. Camera's only had up to iso 800 back then. Using several Paull C Buff 1600s had a three second recycle time 20 years ago. That Sony transmitter is great. And this is one of your best interviews.
