  • Seattle 2020 boat show had many boats I have never seen before and this KingFisher was one of my favorites. They are made well and are very sturdy. The finishes are top notch and the pilot house has plenty of space.
Let's walk with Delaney the 30 foot KingFisher and the 2725 weekender

I have a kingfisher 2225. I fish salmon primarily..but its outfitted for everything else you could catch.. my wife and i have lived on it for weeks with no issues. The smaller size makes it easy to trailer anywhere..but it will still handle 6 guys fishing. i love it..the best boat.. i rock it out all over the great lakes...it handles 10 ft seas no problem....very safe and rugged. Plus whatever you hit no damage a sledge and paint wont fix....buy a kingfisher.....

I have DEFINITELY noticed that Kingfisher boats (and Wooldridge boats, to some degree as well) use lower horsepower engines versus other brands of similar size and configuration. That's good. They also, have, I think, about 18 degree hull, versus Allied Boats that had about 24 degree hull in the same sized boat. Other brands were north of that 18 degrees, too. Lower degree hulls don't cut through heavy chop as well, but they are more fuel efficient, and arguably a bit more stable side-to-side (such as when anchored or slow trolling).

The 2725 seems nice, about as large as you can get while still being trailer-able wherever. Being an OTR driver I'd rather not have to deal with wide load permits whenever I trailer a boat. Plus 8' 6" beam makes it more manageable for those smaller side roads getting to little lakes here and there in the mountains. I'd keep it stored on the trailer at home mostly, as I'm on the road working a lot, it would give me peace of mind knowing it's not sitting at a marina somewhere waiting for a bad storm to come mess it up, or some idiot..
I prefer all metal boats over composites, longer lasting, lower maintenance, and easier to repair incase you do manage to damage it. I've never owned a boat, only been out on friends and family here and there. I'd certainly want something big enough to handle most conditions, but small enough that is manageable on the water and a trailer.

I've never seen OUTside head doors in the Northwest. But the very first "Great Lakes" boat of this type of configuration I saw DID have an OUTside door - I was surprised. Weird.

125 mile range on the 2725 ? I'm thinking you meant 225? 100 gal tank with twin 150's should get at least 2mpg. Right?
