I don't think anyone understands the lyrics and reality are in deep contrast to the mood of the song. The dude is back against the wall on two empty milk crates as they give out under him from his weight. No time to cut an run. Its the cheapest flight. He is talking about suicide by hanging himself due to sleepless nights caused by trying to work things out in life but there was too much heat and pressure. I hate to pop a lot of the misunderstandings people clearly had, but this is like a song from Beck -dark realities sung beautifully and in a contrasting mood.
I also think about this lyrics exactly this way! But no one seems to think that way...
This makes me wanna travel somewhere with no real destination.
