- This Silver Moira felt like their DPS weren't doing enough damage and tried to get them to swap the entire game. After they refused, they decided to go DPS Moira to make up for the "low damage." Was that the right call or were they focused on the wrong thing?

It's really annoying that they keep throwing the healing orb at the floor because they just bounce up into the air after 2 seconds. it's way more efficient to throw it in a straight line at a wall so that it will bounce back and stick around for longer.
Yes, I'm aware there is a very niche strat where you throw it at the floor at an angle, however that is only useful if you are walking In a long straight line on flat ground with no walls around.
Yeah, a few of those orbs could have had way more value over time if they would bounce them around the fight rather than up and out to the sky immediately.
I see a lot of low rank players do this and I don't get where they got the idea from. It's usefull in some hallways, but even in most hallways the wall will be better.

@@TheDuzx If you had no walls and your healing target was completely stationary, it would provide a split second more of a healing as it has to travel around the target slightly longer (Making a V over the target versus a straight line). Of course walls exist and your target is moving so really no reason lol.
Actually throwing it at a slight angle at the floor is good if there's no good wall bounce available.

As a sombra player this is the most annoying thing. You could be leading in kills and making a big impact but your teams sees 5k damage and they tell you that you aren’t doing anything.
I’ve never played Sombra for more than a few minutes but I can understand how frustrating that is.
I think it depends on your rank because better sombra players still do more than 5k damage same with tracer. Most players in lower ranks aren’t outputting any crazy damage unless it’s junk or bastion
This Sombra wasn’t actually doing anything though, I rewatched the video and focused on them. They were pretty much playing frontline all game shooting the Orisa and not getting behind them to get any picks or distract them

Could just mean they feel more comfortable playing Moira and/or are worse on the others.
In a situation in which I can stay alive and doing stuff as Moira would mean better value than as Ana where I walk up to the fight, throw my nade, my team doesn't utilize it and I die and get send back to spawn. But I guess that's something only the person playing would know. I sometimes miss every shot possible, especially in hectic/fast fights, so at least for last fights I tend to play Moira just for staying alive throughout all. xD
Would've gone Kiri I guess. Staying highground can make things a lot easier and maybe could've opened up some chances for Sombra and Tracer to get easy kills.
People need to understand that it really doesn't matter how "nicely" you tell someone they should swap, because what you are really saying is they are the problem.
Focus on what you can personally do and stop worrying about others.

It can help though. If you have a ball that’s playing against brig, ana, sombra and bastion then it’d probably be more beneficial to ask them if they have any other heroes that they’re comfortable playing then repeatedly fighting a 4.2v5
Edit: It’s more worth it to at least try in case they say yes, since even if they say no you can still then focus on everything you can be doing (although you should be focusing on that anyway)

Best you can do is ask if the DPS wants to nano-blade with you or something to encourage them to swap if you think it would benefit the team. In this case that wouldn't have pushed the needle and the best case was for the Moira to just focus on the important stuff. Like obj, keeping your team up, not feeding/use cover.
It Will depend on what they playing on what map vs whatever the Enemy is using because sometimes it's really hard or Next to Impossible to hold unless someone chances (talking more about tank in this case)
I feel like Moira likes to heal the air and fade when she takes 10 damage.
I was the mercy this game. I honestly think my team got so much value because the enemy team stopped focusing our supports in the second half. Whenever I play a game and I’m getting hard focused, it forces me to get off mercy. But I think watching replays are so important to improving. Some of the mistakes Moira made I make when I play Moira. Replays are definitely important.

I’m a support main who plays dive heroes on off role. When I heard that it was sombra tracer and she was moira I already felt the pain. Moira does not work with dive heroes and I hate how in low ranks ppl always insta lock moira and it makes it so difficult to play fun dive heroes

My favorite roll is support. I try not to waste time in game worrying about what my teammates aren't doing. I instead try to approach it as what can I do to make it possible for my teammates to pop off and make plays. If that means being super heavy on heals or super aggressive on damage or even a swap to counter an effective opponent doesn't matter. What never helps is blaming teammates in game or worrying about damage/healing numbers because I can't change their game play, I can only change mine. Now if only I could climb out of silver lol.

things i can say about this moira as gold support who also plays moira occasionally:
1) moira is actually playable in low ranks because of her high survivability and high heals, but only against a specific comps on certain maps, like map with angled walls to get the most value from orbs or when ur team stays more with u or when enemy team plays more crowded again to make more value from orbs, also if they have dva or genji in enemy team
2) in this comp on this map i would choose ana because i can shoot pharmercy (no one can) and lw would heal jq, i can nade orisa (they dont have cleanse) and my jq to help my lw, i can sleep orisa and bob
3) another option is zen or kiriko because zen is melting tanks machine, tranquility saves from orisa's ult and bob, healing orb helps dps helping them doing their job; kiri can be a huge menace if she can land shots especially on widow (pharah swapped to widow) and save from cass ult, orisa ult; and both of them can do a lot of damage
4) in 2nd round all these supports can work too
so overall i see no reason to pick moira here, as a support i think u should swap to ur team needs not to team play around u
also no reason to pick winston here? especially since they have healbotting mercy and reaper and no one touching a mercy here

First things first: Don't ask people to swap, especially if you won'tcan't swap yourself. The only exception is going to be something like "Hey, they're running Sym Junk or something, if you go pharah I'll go mercy for you".
Secondly, actually I kind of agree the dps comp was the problem but not really for the reason that the poster said. I think they were doing their jobs well, but because it's silver and nobody knows how to play with either of those heroes individually, even less people know how to be on a team with them so they were increasing the chaos and mistiming's on your team.
Honestly there was not a lot you can individually, but being positive rather than negative to your team goes a really long way towards making games that aren't winnable winnable.

@@THE__VANNY_._1 Moira is good at close range aoe (area of effect) healing so something like brawl/rush is more her style. When you’re playing with a team that has high mobility like a dive comp you want longer range heals so something like Ana, zen. For the second support you’ll want a brig to keep the other support alive.
One could also play kiriko because there is never a situation where she’s the wrong choice and if you want to be a weirdo you could also play lifeweaver as he himself is undivable and can pull a teammate back if they fuck up an execution. His heals also have pretty good range in decent chunks

@@vanishhero964 theres no way u would reccommend lifeweaver over moira in a dive comp when moira can quite literally bend to most playstyles and one of the best supports to pair with others
I feel like the Moira is playing too far, especially in first point. They keep falling back when they could have just went around the corner still in LOS of their team but avoiding direct fire from the enemy. Instead they just kept running back.
I was thinking the same thing, they could’ve stayed at the hotel if they were worried about getting picked off early but they just stood in main barely healing their JQ lol
I think the problem is the team is on dive but their on moira which will make it very difficult for them to help. The position is good for a brawl or poke comp but it’s useless to the dive. They said they played kiri so they really should have chose her instead.

This wasn't the dps...it was the tank nonstop feeding into counters. If your tank plays like this you have zero chance of winning no matter what the other 4 people on the team do.

I also like to check the scoreboard but it can be misleading. Widow might kill with one 200 dmg headshot but a soldier might make no kill with 1000 dmg poke just feeding enemy support ult charge. Healing can be low when people don't group and die alone, die too fast, always get behind walls or you roll the enemy and barely take damage.

Another thing I kept seeing is when they used their ult they kept using it on the tank instead of the squishy characters
The damage characters were doing fine, if anything it was the tank during defense who played overly aggressive or the other support during attack who kept getting out of position and using their abilities (especially immortality field) poorly.
Honestly as soon as I see Moira complain, I already know who to blame

I only ever check the board to see where my teammates ultimate charges are and to check if the other team switched characters. But I also only ever check my own stats to see where I can improve in the game.
That mercy got too many free rez
I would argue (very generally i would add) that the stats of a match will refllect between 40-60% of the actual value, and contributions of the match. doing damage, contributes, damage mitigation contributes. its not that stats, or in this case low damage, matter that much, its that they dont matter as much as before. look at widow, could have 3 elims, 3 final blows, and have 750 damage (3 one shot 250 health characters) and everyone else could be at 2 elims and 2k damage. however, damage relfect "generic overall team pressure" meaning if you are pumping damage at the enemy tank, they are forced to play near cover, and or heal/retreat, because its pressure. additionally, damage generates ult charge. which is a direct representation of contributing to your own win condition.
i would argue that as a initial set up, sombra, tracer into a pharah is not the best set up, it is rather glass canon like. the idea here would be to swap to help with the pharah rather then for specifically "increased damage"
10:55 that would have been a huge play if the moira just threw a heal orb to distract the cass and mercy. What I see a lot of Moiras do is trying to go for kills, but that's more often than not not the goal of flanking. It is a lot better to threaten a kill for the attention of 2 enemies instead of trying to go for the perfect flank on an isolated target. Now, the situation of course wasn't the best one, but that is a play this Moira should keep in mind when they want to climb.
Running queen to this orisa was more of an issue than the dps. Thay said, i didnt se a hack on bob at all. If emongg is right about stats and that plays are more important, did the sombra do even that that? That said im only after the first round here.
this map became an instant favorite for me after I played Illari on it and I was 23-0
I see the value of the fun playing Sombra Tracer. IMO probably not the best pick for first point defend. Sombra or Tracer with about any other DPS to take advantage of the high ground (with more damage) first point defense would have additional value. I'm not a fan of comp, my value of fun to win ratio is not that important, but I think if playing comp, team comp should be the overall goal. After first point, Sombra, Tracer has more value, but the right team comp could have prevented anything after first point. Asking a tank to switch, to fit the DPS play style is an OK thing, but then the support may have to switch to fit that style. If anyone asks someone to switch they must also be willing to switch if it just isn't working. Personal stubbornness is something OW will never overcome.
bro if only the Moira would have focused a little more on harassing the healers who are healing the dps she's trying to get she'd have done much better, especially focusing the mercy because she just rezzed a couple of times after the moira got the kill
I want to point out that the moira didn't switch because they felt like they could get the most value out of moira. How do you know the dps didn't feel the same about the heroes they were playing? Sure, you can always ask people to switch nicely but don't get angry if they say no...

The healing orbs they’ve got to focus more on throwing them diagonal or sideways! Walls are your best friend with Moira
Idk why i feel like they play Moria wayyyyyy different then how they play even though we are very close in rank (Im gold) The distance of the healing hand (i just call it the golden shower) is unknown to them it seems like. When your so low rank NO ONE uses chat. why? because all you get is a person yelling meow into the mic. A suck hand w key moria that throws orbs to the moon is a silver rank staple. 20k damage moria with 7k heals is less impressive then a 7k damage moria with 20k heals (although we cant see the stats) But i like too look at the assists when im a healer. Thats how i know im doing the team right.

People are never going to understand that stat numbers dont mean anything with the existence of the scoreboard. I prefer that have one since it can give you a bit of insight comparing yourself to the enemy team, but that scoreboard isnt gonna tell you how well youve been positioning, who youve been supporting the whole game, or how in general you personally have been affecting the team fights.
In this game I personally would've gone with Kiri. If they would get ppl low regularly and needed an Orb to finish them off, Moira would've been a good choice but it didn't feel like dmg orb did get much value other than filling the heals back up (also orb placement was kinda wild).
I think hitting shots as Kiri would've maybe open up more chances for Tracer and Sombra (or Winston) to engage (also just standing high ground can make things easier). Also Bap + Kiri ult can be op, even tho Moira in Kiri ult isn't bad either.
It felt more like Moira staying back and "watched".
Dmg orb doesn't bring much value if you play against a comp where they have a Moira themselves and you have no Ana on your team or no overall consistent dmg (like with Ashe, Soj or something). Healing against enemy coal alone is just soooo easy too. So trying to make something happen with it won't work either most of the time. Also Dmg'ing Orisa does put pressure onto the enemy supports but it just won't work if you're the only one hitting her.
Going for the dmg on Orisa with last coal could've been the losing point.
I shouted at my screen to keep winston alive. Would've thrown healing orb and put my ult onto him since the other sup was dead (and there was a Reaper). Would've easily gotten him back to full health (only hit him a short time and he got so much healing), maybe even kept the Sombra alive too. Maybe Winston could've gotten another bubble on payload. Sombra could've gotten a Hack on someone (ressing Mercy maybe?). Orisa would've probably died then (was already low and coal didn't do much dmg to Orisa to begin with - remember, coal doesn't do much dmg but it can be crazy vs shields to kill of low hp targets which others couldn't hit (or heal through shields)). They were down 1-2 sup (brig freshly walking from spawn, Mercy dying from pulse).
Ashe could''ve been fooder in this kind of comp after and Reaper already lost 1/3 of his Hp too (and maybe Mercy couldn't have ressed the Reaper if Sombra stayed alive). Brig could''ve been forced to run in solo to stall but probably couldn't stay alive long (maybe together with Reaper if he didn't get ressed). Could've been enough time for your Ana to get back for another fight and maybe enought time to build up Nano. A lot could have happened if Moira wasn't focused on dmg'ing Orisa in front of her but I guess you sometimes can tunnel vision on something directly infront of you. xD
You absolutely don't need high numbers to win a game. I mostly play QP (shitty connection atm, I dc regularly or get high ping lol) and I have games where I have barely heal at all (had a game as Moira with 8k dmg and 3.5k heal xD) or dps barely have any dmg. It all depends on how/when you get this dmg. Had a pharah, 4k dmg but only 4kills, the other dps looked about the same (a little bit better with 6kills or something lol). Absolutely no enemy died and we lost because of that. The only thing I would consider is kills to death ratio or deaths. If someones dies regularly first and/or feeds, its clearly shown in stats, other than that it's pretty useless. Also it needs to stay in relation to what hero they play. A Widow can do wonders if they only pick out 1 support each fight, same as Moiras tend to have lots of kills because of orb (or high healing).
I think the first half of this gameplay pretty much sums up metal ranks. The Moira played fairly well for the most part aside from some healing orbs and the last positioning issue where they faded into the back line. But there are so many games in those ranks where you just can’t overcome bad synergy and bad team play. Not sure how the devs can fix that issue in low ranks either
They need to nerf Moiras damage or lower her self heal so people stop trying to DPS with her.
her damage has already been nerfed recently and moira is also a resource based hero, she is meant to do damage to keep up the heals. although, this person struggled to utilise moira as shes meant to be

barely started and there is a car right below the highground and hes shooting pharah and doesn't bhop up so even if he is going for kills hes not good at it. that would be a free kill if he calls it out and flies up there
Stop wasting your healing spray. It has a short-ish range, does not go through walls, and is useless on allies who are already full health…

This support isn’t really working with their tank. They were so far away from their junkerqueen so they barely got healed. I’m not too knowledgeable about Tanks but JQ uses a more up close brawl style and so does Moira. I think if this player just literally moved forward to their tank they would’ve had more value. The tank would’ve been able to create more space and allow the dps to make more plays. Instead this player doesn’t realize that playing 400ft away from your team is the issue. They also should’ve swapped when the tank swapped because the comp changed to dive.

Moiras heal orb is basically her "oh crap" button. For the most part, dmg orbs and spray are your go to. You only throw heal orbs when you fall behind on heals
Not sure if it's mentioned already but Moira and Bap are probably the two worst possible support heroes to run with Winston/tracer/sombra on kings row. There's no way that team was ever gonna get enough heals midfight.

this moira got so focused on the perceived lack of value from her dps and didn't do enough healing in order to compensate with more damage. could have been an easy win if they'd done more healing at the right times and not worried about how much damage was being done to the other team. keep your team alive as much as possible and they'll do more damage.
The DPS were a bit bad to be honest, Moira had great value in this video.
With better DPS, they could have won.
@@stavrakaspaok im not saying the dps were good, but they didn't really have a chance and that was the problem; the moira got obsessed with doing damage bc she thought the dps were bad instead of going "okay my team isnt doing enough damage; how can i help them?" it is never the moira's job to be the dps, ever. yes, she should do damage; yes, she has a healing metre to fill; yes, that generally means she's going to have a lot of dmg and elims on the board; but that should never be her focus. her focus should on using the right orbs at the right times, keeping her team healthy, and doing damage to discourage flankers or draw out cds; this moira was doing none of that, so even if the dps were god tier for this rank, they still wouldn't have been able to do much.
Most Ow players are so focused on stats and flame people if they aren’t high even when they are providing good value by distracting, getting cooldowns out, getting picks, protecting teammates so they get value. Getting 10k dmg as solider by standing behind tank and farming is not even near as much value as someone with lower damage, tracer/sombra/kiriko/reaper, anyone who is flanking, distracting someone on the enemy team and making space. PLEASE OW COMMUNITY stop being stat bots and think about what you and your team are doing/ need to do, to get value. Instead of just, shoot them.
Emongg, Thank You for saying that a Good Moira Player balances DPS and Heals, Lmao I main Moira and she’s my number one support because I have games where I balance them out Lol, it feels great when you can do that as a support.

Typical Moira player. Playing for stats, not impact. The fact that they don't have to aim on that hero gave them a crazy ego
So I did the math on this. From a pure healing efficiency standpoint, healing orbs are better. So like, if you're in a position that's demanding a lot of healing, you will heal more with your gold orb than you will be able to heal with the resources replenished by your damage orb. Obviously there's more to the decision making than this, but I think it's useful info.
And you can double up on healing with the orb and the secondary to ensure the tank stays up.
After one or two pics, when the enemy starts falling back, you can leave an orb to heal people up while you finish a stragler.

There is problem, if no one deals damage - nothing dies. This why on games with less or zero coordination more damage is almost everytime a good option. Since there is no focused fire from team most of the time. At least this how games in gold/plat.

@@randomayaya Nah, i'm a Tank main, but i prefer to understand how every other role is played. Since you need to do so much more as Tank than DPS. Dps have one job - help to secure kills and if they underperform Tank is first to suffer from it, since he can't kill anything and supports need to put more heals to just keep tank alive. This why i prefer more when dps have less impact than tank.

as a moira main, i think they were doing ok. they just need to, as was said, consider when a damage orb might be more valuable than a healing one, and stop healing the air. biotic grasp has good range, but not that long
In overwatch i see people feed before a team fight or after a lost team fight and then tell people they need to switch characters but they dont know how to play the game in a fundamental sense, i never join any chat in OW.

stop looking at the scoreboard. stop worrying about your teammates numbers. based on the text of your submission, you think numbers = value and have no idea what your teammates actually should be doing. tracer and sombra SHOULDN'T have high damage numbers. if they do, that can actually be a sign they're just shooting a tank who isnt falling over (not saying shooting a tank is bad, its only bad if you never actually confirm the kill).
until you actually understand the game at a higher level, stop worrying about what your teammates are doing and focus instead on helping them more efficiently and effectively.
KR is a great Moira map because there are so many walls and surfaces to bounce orbs off of. take half a second before you throw an orb to consider aiming it to maximize its uptime, i.e., maximize the time it spends actually doing something for you and your team. this goes for both damage and healing orbs but especially for healing orbs. get used to positioning safely and at angles that let you easily bounce the orb horizontally. don't throw it at the ground unless youre in a small room with a low ceiling (and even then, bouncing off walls is typically going to be just fine).
learn Moira's healing range. 15m isn't THAT huge. you mention you play Mercy - Moira's spray is the same length as Mercy's beam, so if you could attach beam as Mercy, you can reach with Moira. you waste so many healing resources by standing a million miles away from your teammates.
on first point, you spend most of your time feeding. yes you weren't playing respawn simulator, but you were standing in the open taking constant damage and you weren't even close enough to your tank to heal them most of the time. it's okay to stand near hotel so you take less damage (aka feed less) while still healing your tank and doing a bit of chip damage to keep up your resources.
i actually disagree with emongg's bit about damage orb, to an extent. healing orb is just so valuable because it's an AOE heal and lets you either burst heal by spraying and using the orb OR continue to heal while getting resources back. btw, tapping damage will get resources back faster than holding down the succ on someone. I'm the type of Moira who is typically doing strategic damage primarily to get healing resources back, so getting that tapping down will be super helpful for you in the long run.
overall, you're just really lost. you don't have much of a plan and you don't understand all the moving pieces of the game so you rely on numbers as a shorthand. i see so many times where you spin in a circle spraying healing even though there are literally zero teammates around you.
focus on yourself instead of crying about what you think your teammates are doing wrong. you have proven you don't understand the game well enough to fixate on others. focus on yourself and all of your mistakes. that will serve you in the long run.

Tbf the Sombra was kinda useless, was watching her play frontline shooting the Orisa almost the entire game and not really getting behind them to get many picks. The Tracer did ok but unfortunately the enemy team stuck together and made it difficult for her to get anything meaningful done by herself, would’ve helped if the Sombra actually made any sort of plays to distract and split them up a little bit.
You’re too focused on this player’s actions and not looking at what the team is doing to think why this player is making these choices. Could they’ve done better? Absolutely, but I don’t think it would’ve changed the result too much

That was quite the loaded statement. They're not "trying desperately to prove them wrong and make it their fault", it's already everyone's fault that they lost, it doesn't need to be proven, the defeat itself confirms that a team failed to perform better than the other team. High rank players like emongg don't need to "try desperately" to see faults in people's gameplay, the fact that high skill players can quickly notice and act on mistakes they see is one of the things that make them high skill in the first place.
Anyway, it's not about the blame game, it's about analyzing plays to see what could be done better to give players the information they need to have more impact on their games. By improving as a player, they can turn those "autoloss" games into hard fought wins. Moira orb bounces can seem like a such a small nitpick to you that you perceive it as desperation to critique orb usage but a good orb flight path will get you saves and elims that a yolo orb simply wouldn't.

Yeah you're forgetting that these are viewer submitted games so that THEY can improve their gameplay and hopefully get enough insight to carry games like this in the future.
Usually when it's 2 flanks the supports tend to be in the line of fire a lot. Especially if it's Tracer and Sombra and the tank is Junker Queen of all people.
There is 0 protection for the role(supports) to navigate unless they go mobile or stealth like the rest of the team.
Also the spray can heal multiple allies at once no? It operates as a cone from what I've seen. So no need to spam healing orb.
