Dark Road tackled an issue I've had with how Kingdom Hearts has handled its stories for over a decade now, which is how the Disney worlds are treated like side quests and barely matter in the grand scheme of things. In Dark Road all of the Disney worlds are essential to the larger story and an integral part of the plot. The Queen of Hearts' darkness igniting Xehanort's interest, The Magic Mirror forcing the main characters to confront aspects of themselves they don't want to admit, Maleficent killing multiple keyblade wielders and actually being taken seriously as a threat, and the crew making a deal with Hades so they can go to the underworld to find the souls of their missing friends, and them actually being there, etc. It's all so good! This is what Kingdom Hearts should be! Full utilization of the crossover element!
I thought that Maleficent was just an illusion made by Baldr which was possesed by the "Fear"? I mean when he was recounting how he killed the guys at the castle we didn't see the Dragon, he just backstabbed everyone there.

Biggest plot twist was us finding out that the player was the hooded person and not Xehanort. Nomura trolled us hard 😂

Square was like "Great Gameplay, Great Story, Great Characters - Pick Two" And picked the last 2 for UX/DR 🤣
For real though, Square lowkey needs to do something about the best KH stories being on the phone
Dark road is so good. It's even better because we have both missing link and KH4 to look forward too! God what great Writers. I'm so excited for this series to walk with the same strength in the story as this game.

I kinda want it so the fight between Young Xehanort and Eraqus with No Name and Master Defender is actually made into a cutscene in KH4 that leads / intercuts with Sora’s fight with Luxu

I will say, things are looking good. Remember at the end of the KHIV trailer when Donald and Goofy went to Hades for help with finding Sora? Suddenly that plan seems a lot more plausible after this. GOOD DISNEY INTEGRATION! PLEASE!

I'd say Dark Road's story as stand-alone is worthy of consideration for best in the series and taking the reins from Chain of Memories and Days 🥲. Union X last year had solidified itself in the top 3 at least. If the phone games' stories can do this, I can only imagine the KH team bringing it hard in KH4's story 🤯.
Easily the DARKEST story in the series, BBS can lay to rest 🙏🏿.
These KH mobile game stories are so fire, and Dark Road did it best by great incorporation of the Disney properties. I still can't believe that they got us thinking that Player became Xehanort, that twist was wild along with the Ephemer reveal as well, my God.

Maybe the best story in the series. The disney worlds impact here is nice! Kh is the only series I know that will put important stuff on a damn phone game I'll never get it.
