  • Once a neglected and overgrown area, this green space in north Hampshire is springing into life thanks to an increase in hedgerows and the creation of an orchard. The community here is nurturing a beautiful, relaxing, and productive place that will also help support nature recovery.
We went along to find out more and meet the inspiring people behind this local project and how the County Council’s Hampshire Forest Partnership has been lending a helping hand.
This is just one of the projects that is receiving assistance from the Forest Partnership which is working with residents, groups and organisations to support the delivery of one million trees by 2050.
Find out more and join us in celebrating National Hedgerow Week (6-12 May).
Want to plant trees and hedgerows? We have support available via our latest schemes - ‘Shoots Along the Routes’ is helping landowners and farmers to create hedgerows on land close to highways, whilst we also have funding from the Government for the creation of community orchards and mini forests, with the aim to create a permanent reminder of His Majesty King Charles III’s Coronation. ‘Linking Leaves’ is bringing communities together to plant trees including disease resistant elms.
Apply now to start growing in the next tree planting season this winter. Visit www.hants.gov.uk/hampshirefor... or contact us treeplanting@hants.gov.uk
