Yea, Riley and Huey never fought that much in the comics. They argued. They disagreed on everything, but they never put hands on each other constantly. Glad the show didn’t go that route.
The pilot looks true to art style of the comics. It very good. Kind wishes they kept that style. Riley and Huey act like brothers instead being drastically different opinions. I like those family moments, good or bad, if they fight or comfort each other.
In order to be put on a major network, they had to portray black people as ni99as. They couldn’t have the calm, collected, intellectual portrayal been too prevalent.
I used to read the comic strip The Boondocks in the daily news paper. It was really different from the animated series that came after. It took me a minute to get use to the cartoon because the theme had become quite different. I quickly came to love the show.
The early signs of Jasmine being the love interest towards Huey is very obvious here compared to the rest of the show. It's like the animators said "Hmm...let's have them make awkward eye contact with each other for a few seconds..." like ok we get it lol
I've never 👀 this original pilot but I like it, it's a 10/10 for me too...I especially like that extra little bit of emotion in Huey. It's good to be strong & it's important....But it's also really nice to 👀 characters express themselves in a genuine way.I honestly wish they'd make a full-blown movie...They could feature the kids as adults with their own kids & trying to navigate parenthood🤗.I 💭 what makes the Boondocks so special is that it's actually a high-brow intellectual show that's just wrapped in raunchy comedy and also MANY different types of people can actually relate to the characters ESPECIALLY if you grew up in a dysfunctional background🌞👍🏻👍🏻.
Honestly I like this pilot a lot better than the one that you used. The one where Uncle ruckus sang don't trust them new n-words over there. And the way he introduced it, I would like to sing for you a brand new song I just wrote so sing along if you all know the words
Fun fact:
The same people who animated boondocks animated Avatar the last Airbender
I knew something looked familiar!!
Uncle ruckus look like iroh
You can absolutely see it in Jazmines eyes
never knew that preciate that unc
I can see that😂
I can't believe uncle ruckus looked healthier
This is hilarious.
Physical and mental
Physical and mental
It's lookdid not looked. Like tooken not taken. I hate when people try to sound eddumacated.
I'm just joking. 😂😂
He also had kids of his own
Huey in the pilot has a lot more emotion. I wish they kept that energy. In the show, he can be too stoic sometimes.
This style is from the comics which the boondocks first appeared
Yea, Riley and Huey never fought that much in the comics. They argued. They disagreed on everything, but they never put hands on each other constantly. Glad the show didn’t go that route.
Yeah the anime fights were so good hahaha
Watermelon and biscuit network killed me lol
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I think huey’s dialogue got dialed back a bunch and riley got more love in the actual show
In order to be put on a major network, they had to portray black people as ni99as. They couldn’t have the calm, collected, intellectual portrayal been too prevalent.
The fact grandad still looks the same.
While the pilot was interesting I prefer the finale product. The anime influence was a great touch
No. I prefer prototype. We dont need pesudo anime.
Correct!, it is leading to the 'cheap anime style' ; losing, its inherently and original artistic beauty...so it goes, I guess.
“The snowy day” art style is so soft and warm
pilot episodes looked similar
but the sharper tone which we got was good too
I prefer the pilot though
For the original show they added artists that worked on dragon ball Z....
JAZMINE IS SO PRETTYYYY AND PRECIOUS 😭😭😭

I kinda like ruckus design here. His mustache looks like whipped cream though. They should've drawn it better imo
Yeah. This version of him was closer to the original comic.
I like hueys outfit in the pilot
The early signs of Jasmine being the love interest towards Huey is very obvious here compared to the rest of the show. It's like the animators said "Hmm...let's have them make awkward eye contact with each other for a few seconds..." like ok we get it lol
"you pee the bed and suck your thumb, you are not a thug"
Damn bro he js called you out dirtying his 1s, you didnt have to kill the kid
He really did go all in.

"Riley Freeman (Thugus Ignoramus)"
"Huey Freeman (Blackus Maximus)"
lmaoo
Damn, this is the Boondocks we should've gotten.
Yeah. This episode showed us why this show would be legendary.
Ngl bruh I still prefer the boondocks we got lol Regina King as Huey and Riley MADE the show for me! Only time it lost it's momentum was season 4.
No, the final product was better. But I appreciate this one was more accurate to the style of the comics
I know now I'm starting to feel a little ripped off
@@Dio_Corleone I hear you. I wouldn’t swap what we had. I like the route they actually took.
First time ever seeing this version but absolutely loved it I give it a 10
Boondocks will always be a black cartoon for us black folks 🧑🏿🦱✊🏿
Uncle Ruckus says otherwise. Lol!
1.) It looks a lot more like the original comic strip. 2.) As someone from Philly, I'm loving Riley's #Sixer's shirt! #DrJ is a #Legend!

Seeing this pilot episode has so many layers attached. Seeing the characters interact with each other and how the show direction is on display.
Riley and Huey had a more heated sibbling rivalry, Huey would react more to Riley's antics and in some way acted more like a kid
Corinthian 15 verse 57
But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
I also love how Huey asks if there’s pork on the sandwich implying he’s Muslim
He comments on not eating pork a few times in the 'real' show
I mean I’m not Muslim but I don’t eat pork sooooo he’s probably not Muslim ☪️
Or Jewish.
Or maybe its some diet thing.
A lot of conscious black men don’t eat pork
@@fatboitino2 why?
I'm glad they changed the design, cuz' the pilot looks like a Y7 rating Animated tv show.
Looks like the original comic strip. Would have loves a few episodes like this.
The whole show looked like a kids show from that time
Riley got that Megamind forehead
Not the white air forces
Lore of The Boondocks Pilot was Different momentum 100
I’m glad she did both voices! 😂🔥
Interesting 👏🏾 👏🏾 thanks
Thanks for watching.
Even animation seems more fluent
Big head riley will always be funny
Jazmine is just a innocent, cutesy lil girl lol. She’s too pure for the freeman brothers
i gave it a 10 too
i wish they would've stuck w/ this animation it looked better in my opinion but still glad we had The Boondocks all together
Riley never called Jasmine that in the show. I know he learned it from TV, but he knew better.
The animation is largely based on the original comic art from the newspaper
Good video man 🎉 W. It’s entertaining.
Thanks. I appreciate it.
Not sure what I like better, the version we got or the pilot with an art style closer to the comic strips
Wish Ceaser was up in the show
the difference is crazy
The pilot looks like it came from Megas Xlr.
What was that beat you had played in the beginning at 0:04
Random Old head here to answer your question. Words I Manifest (remix) by Gang Starr
The style is more like the comics
Bros forehead huge tho
U think that’s crazy, u should see the OG comics
Code lyoko ahh head
@@OmegaChase1002I'm dead 😂😂
@@OmegaChase1002 Thought the same thing.
Awh Huey & riley are cute lol
I like the animation and art style better here. Backgrounds as well.
It looks like the comic strip
3:00 😂😂
Who was braiding lil bros hair in wood crest
Lmao.
Anyone know the intro song?
“Words I Manifest” (Remix) by Gang Starr.
@@TheAnimatedReview Hero
they took smth n made it more n more lowbrow as the show went on
The Black Cailou s
The art style eas similar to the comic strip. I kinda wish they went with this style.
This song is so sad
It look like the original art from the News Paper.
